Landon at 9 Months

Landon continues to be our sweet happy baby, but sprouting 2 teeth and having a cold this month has definitely brought out his grumpy side. His first tooth broke the surface a month ago and now his two front, bottom teeth are almost completely up.

Our whole family has been fighting off head colds the last 2 weeks and most days I can't tell whats making him miserable, his teeth or his cold.

He's wearing 9-12 month clothes and size 4 diaper.

He has figured out how to get around a little bit by reaching out his arms and scooting his bum before sitting down again. The last couple of days he has even gotten on all fours and rocked back and forth, but just hasn't quite figured out how to crawl yet. I'm sure it's going to happen any day now though. 

He can no get from a sitting position from his belly all by himself and it's hilarious to watch because he does the splits and then scoots himself back with his hands until he's sitting up. He may have rolls upon rolls, but this boy is flexible!

He loves to pull the bin with his toys in it over and dump them all out just so he can play with the empty bin. 

He puts everything in his mouth. 

He loves his baby food, but doesn't seem to like my homemade baby food as much, I'm guessing because it has a different texture.

He's still nursing 4 times a day, and once during the night between 1 and 3 am. 

He's still taking 3 naps that vary in length and is in bed by 8:15 at night. He is usually ready to be up for the day by 6 or 6:30. 

When he is ready to get up he will absolutely refuse to take his pacifier and will push your hands away from him.

He prefers to either sleep on his back or on his left side with this pacifier in and cuddling his blanket. 

He is ticklish on his thighs, ribs and neck. 

He is a good car traveler now.

He usually does pretty well with people he doesn't know well, unless of course he's hungry or tired. 

He is starting to jabber and loves to blow his lips and spray spit all over. 

Still loves his baths and is always fascinated with the faucet and drain.

Steven has been teaching him to touch his nose to make the "beep" sound and that's the only time it's okay to touch his nose, otherwise he hates having his nose touched and he especially hates having it suctioned! 

Well that is our cute boy at 9 months! He will have his well baby check up in 2 weeks and we will be able to see what his height and weight stats are. 

Mason Mastered his Bike

For the last couple of weeks we have worked with Mason to ride his bike without the training wheels and today he got it and was doing awesome! He has a hard time getting started, but once he gets going he does really well. He was so excited and wanted to show anyone who would watch! I'm amazed at how quick he picked it up and how well he's doing. It's hard for me to believe that he is old enough to be riding a bike without training wheels, where did the time go!?

Fifths Disease

About 4 days ago Mason started to develop a red blotchy rash on his cheeks, arms and torso.

He had used a new body wash on Thursday and I thought maybe he was having some kind of allergic reaction. I gave him benedryl at bedtime and in the morning the rash looked no different, in fact it almost looked worse. He hasn't been running a fever or anything and the rash doesn't seem to bother him any so I haven't been to concerned about it. However, I was hesitant to send him to preschool today not knowing what it was so I posted some pictures of him to Facebook hoping some of my nurse friends might be able to help. Right away one of the nurses I worked with in Indiana who is now a school nurse recognized it as Fifths Disease. I had read about this disease while looking online trying to figure it out for myself and it had sounded just like what he had, but I wasn't sure. Basically it is caused by a virus, but the rash generally appears after the illness, in Masons case a simple cold. Once they have the rash they are no longer contagious, which is good, but also bad cause we didn't know he had anything more than a common cold until the rash appeared. Thankfully because we've all been sick lately we really haven't been out to much, including staying home from church. Apparently the rash can take up to 3 weeks to go away, so I guess he may have it for awhile and now I'm praying nobody else gets it!

Play Doh with Grandma Workman

Cory and Terrie came up to spend last night with us and this morning they were playing play doh with the kids. 

We love having visitors and the kids especially love spending time with their grandparents!

Legos with my Girl

While Mason was at preschool this morning and Landon was sleeping Emma and I had some quality girl time making a lego castle with the new legos she got for her birthday. This was the first time she'd played with the tiny legos and I was surprised at how well she did with them. However, they are definitely something she will need help with and won't be able to play with by herself. 

We sure had fun though making this castle with just us girls. 

Princess Emma

Emma was loving playing with her new Frozen vanity this morning. She was busy doing her hair and getting all prettied up.

Birthday Celebration with the Workmans

After everyone had lunch we celebrated Mason and Emma's birthdays. They opened their gifts first and totally got spoiled by everyone.

Mason got Lego blocks, a giant transformer, a fart gun, two other transformers, a new Spiderman bouncing ball (one like he had before that got popped on accident), and a Spiderman shower gift pack.

Emma got Lego blocks, a bike helmet, a horn and streamers for her bike along with knee pads, nail polish, princess lipstick, and a FurReal puppy.

Giving their grandparents hugs to say thank you. 

After presents they got to blow out candles on their cupcakes again while we sang happy birthday.

We really appreciated everyone being there to celebrate their birthdays with us and for spoiling them with gifts. There is no doubt that they are well loved by all!

The Deck

Steven, his brothers, our brother-in-law Cheyenne and his dad have been busy rebuilding his parents deck all day while I've been running around with the kids all day. When I got back from my sisters house Steven's mom had made dinner for everyone and they were just getting ready to eat. I didn't expect Mason and Emma would eat very much since they'd pretty much just eaten at Beccas, but I was surprised that Mason did still eat quite a bit before he and his cousins ran outside to play in the sandbox out back. They were all playing pretty well together for awhile, but then different kids kept coming in complaining that others were throwing sand, Emma being one of the biggest culprits!

 After telling her to stop twice and her not listening their fun quickly ended and I made them come in to take baths and get ready for bed. Emma was covered in so much sand that she required a complete strip down outside before taking her straight to the tub! I quickly bathed her and Landon together and once they were done I helped Mason shower himself.  By the time everyone was done with baths the deck was pretty much completed so Steven let each of the kids take a turn drilling in some screws. Then it was off to bedtime for our kiddos.
