On the Move

Mason has been rolling and scooting himself wherever he wants to go these days and today he had his eye set on this elephant hanging from his jumperoo. The outfit that he's wearing was handed down from his cousin Cannon, whom I had a picture of in this same outfit from when we went out to Utah to visit. So I thought I'd take a picture of Mason in it to compare the two. However, I think Cannon was 7 months old at the time and Mason is 6 months in this picture.

Going Private

Well I'm finally going to take the plunge and make our blog private. Now that we have Mason I've decided that I would be more comfortable being able to control who is viewing our blog. I know it can be a little bit of an inconvenience, but I've been debating it for awhile now and I feel like it's the right thing to do. I will probably try and make the change over within the first couple weeks of October so if you would like to continue viewing our blog please leave a comment with your e-mail address and I'll be sure to add you! Yummy Toes

A couple weeks ago Mason started trying to put his toes in his mouth, but couldn't ever quite get them there. Then on Sunday the 19th our home teachers were over and while they were talking Mason was lying on my lap and I looked down to find Mason sucking on his toes! He was going to town on them and gave us all a good laugh! Unfortunately we didn't get a video of it that day, but today he started doing it again and this time we caught it on camera. I think it's gross, but funny to watch! We try not to let Mason suck his thumb, because I really don't want a thumb sucker and I'd rather use a binky, but now I think I'd rather have a thumb sucker than a toe sucker!

Daddy's Helper

Okay, so I don't really know how much help he was being, but he sure loves to spend time with his daddy and see what he's up to. Also, can you tell he's already got that look that says "give me this"! I wonder what this does? Our little "Mini Steve" as our neighbors call him

This is Mason showing off the latest trick that he's learned. He's a sputtering machine!!

5 Months Old

Can you believe this boy is already 5 months old!? He has seriously been so much fun and has brought so much joy into our lives! I am amazed at how fast time seems to go with him around and it seems like he changes daily! Here are a few things about him at 5 months old!

• Weight: 18.4 pounds (on our home scale)
• He's starting to wear 6-9 month clothes, but can still fit into most of his 3-6 month clothes
• Still wears size 3 diapers, which he blows out of almost daily.
• Loves to try and eat his toes, but his belly gets in the way so he usually settles for taking off his socks and eating those!
• Loves to gnaw/suck on blankets/clothes/burp cloths pretty much any material he can get in his mouth.
• He loves to play peek-a-boo by himself and with us! He usually covers his own head to do so.
• He can sit unassisted for a little bit, but most the time he's to active and falls over reaching for toys.
• He rolled over once from his back to his belly last week, but hasn't done it since (we think it might have been a fluke)
• He eats his rice cereal once a day while we eat dinner. He still doesn't seem to sure about it, but is getting better at eating from the spoon.
• Some of his favorite toys are: a square that makes a crunchy sound, his rattle, empty baby bottles, our water bottles and any piece of fabric that he can put over his face!
• He is getting much better at sleeping through the night lately and has only been waking up 1-3 times where he needs his pacifier and to be rolled over and he goes back to sleep :)
• I think he's learned that when we go into his room and turn on the music it's nap time and he'll usually lay his head on my shoulder
• He does not nap well anywhere but home.
• His latest trick is to blow bubbles with his mouth.
• He becomes super impatient when he knows it's time to eat. If I lay him on the boppy pillow before I'm ready he starts in with his whiny, impatient cry and doesn't stop until he starts eating.
• He's still eating roughly 7 ounces four times a day!
• He has been really into touching our faces lately, especially while he's eating.

Another thing he did for the first time today was pout/cry when I was about to hand him off to the nanny. Usually he doesn't seem to mind when I hand him off, but this morning he started pouting, buried his head into my shoulder, and grabbed onto my shirt. Then when I handed him over he continued to pout, his lip started quivering and before I could even get down the hall he was crying. Talk about breaking my heart! After a minute of standing in my room burying my face in my hands, and fighting back the tears I was ready to go out, get him, and send the nanny home. Of course I didn't because I just kept telling myself that it had to happen eventually and if I cave now it's only going to get harder. It sounds like such a silly thing, but hearing him cry for me was so hard! Anyhow that's our boy at 5 months and here's his monthly pictures with the monkey. He was more interested in eating the monkey today than anything.

Colts Game

Last night Steven and I had a night out just the two of us and we went to our first Colts game in Indy at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Neither of us are huge football fans, but we thought it would be a fun experience to attend a game while we lived here and we were right! Our seats weren't the greatest as we were up on the highest balcony, but none the less it was still a fun experience just to be there. We ended up leaving at the end of the 3rd quarter so we could beat the traffic and get home to our little guy. We were both a little nervous about leaving him, but we enjoyed having some time to ourselves. Plus, he had a good night with his first babysitter and was sound asleep by the time we got home. Oh, and the Colts ended up losing to the Bengals 28 to 30 :( The stadium is HUGE and the players looked so tiny from our seats! I felt a little out of place because we didn't have Peyton jerseys on.
