Last week we went to the Dallas Zoo with some of our good friends. This was our first trip to the zoo, and the boys loved it! The weather was absolutely perfect, and we had the best time with our friends.
The good thing about going with a group...lots of mommies there to help! Callen and I were following in the stroller - I think Addison was with us too!
These 3 boys walked the entire time and never wanted to sit in the strollers. Their sweet, little legs must have been tired!
I think the kids were a little annoyed that we made them stop to take this picture as soon as we walked in. They were ready to see the animals, not pose for pictures!
We saw penguins right at the start, and the kids were glued to the glass. I actually think 90% of our pictures that day are only of the kids back sides. :-)
Callen enjoyed being pushed around. I didn't let him out too much since he isn't as obedient yet as his brother is! He didn't seem to mind.
Of course we saw lions, elephants and other animals, but the giraffe was a clear favorite since the kids were able to be so close and actually feed him! They would have stayed there all day if we let them.
About 2 hours in, we stopped for some much-needed lunch. This was the perfect little break for all of us and gave us the energy for the 2 hours following!

Before we left the kids were able to burn what energy they had left at the children's play area. Callen was excited to finally run around.
We had the best time and look forward to going again with Daddy one day before it gets too hot!
My sweet, sweet Ranger turned 3 last month! I truly can't wrap my mind around how big he is and just how fast the past 3 years have flown by. When God gave me Ranger, it altered my life in so many amazing & wonderful ways, and I wouldn't change a thing! His silly little smile and sweet blue eyes light up every one of my days.
At his 3-year check-up, he weighed 27.4 lbs (10th %) and is 35.3 inches tall (10th %). The pediatrician feels like he is growing just fine, both physically and mentally. His health is such a blessing!
Ranger wakes up every morning between 7:00 - 7:15. He naps about 2 hours every afternoon and has a 7:45-8:00pm bedtime. He loves his bedtime routine of a Bible story and prayer with either Mommy or Daddy and is always asking who's turn it is to take him tonight. :-)
Of course, Ranger loves any time he gets to spend with his Daddy. As Callen gets older, he also enjoys play time with him. Ranger can be our cozy buddy, for sure. He is content to sit and watch cartoons and read books and loves the quality time with Mommy & Daddy. I think in this particular picture, he is trying to give me a silly face. Funny guy!
Ranger loves to be crafty! Anytime we do any painting, drawing or crafting, he is all in! His friend Brody had a really fun birthday party last month, and Ranger painted on this cardboard house forever. He is quite tactile and loves doing anything "hands on." He especially enjoys any project with Mommy and Daddy - even if it's as simple as helping make breakfast. If Daddy is doing any project with his "big" tools, Ranger is more than happy to chip in with his "little" tools.
We haven't been able to do much bike riding outside since Christmas, but we do practice inside occasionally. He loves any reason to be outside, so not having a harsh winter has been really nice! Ranger is quite the active little boy and does all those little boy things like running, jumping, screaming, and impromptu flips off the furniture. Ranger is really into sports right now and enjoys shooting baskets and hitting baseballs.
Ranger love, love, loves playing his guitar with Daddy. They sing their ABCs, Beach Boys, and other silly songs they make up together. It is a very sweet and very loud pastime that we all enjoy! Ranger has quite the vocabulary now and talks constantly. He seems to understand absolutely everything and will repeat verbatim what he hears. We have to be careful now with his perky ears! But, I love his adorable voice, and even the hundreds of questions we answer each and every day. :-)
Ranger started preschool in January, and he LOVES it there! He has made some really good friends and is in class with his good buddy, Brody. His teachers are incredible and say that he fit right in immediately. We feel so blessed that he is in the class he is in and know he is learning some great social skills. He even sleeps there about half the time, which I never thought he would do!

Ranger and Callen are starting to be good buddies and good brothers. Of course, part of being a brother is some fighting, some toy stealing, and some pushing, but overall they seem to really enjoy each other. I truly look forward to watching these 2 grow up together and become friends.
Ranger really is a super sweetheart. He has a tender spirit and shows compassion for others. He always wants to know why someone is crying and what's bothering him. He cares about his friends and family and loves being around all of them. He still adores his loveys and all of his stuffed animals and regularly gives them hugs and kisses.
Of course, he is 3, so there are many "teachable" moments throughout each day. We are learning to work through fits and disobedience, just like all parents do. Some days are easier than others, but a well-rested Ranger is usually a better-behaved Ranger.
Ranger is just a sweet, joyful, intelligent little guy, and we are so blessed to be his parents. I look forward to watching him grow and learn.
