Study Time

Grandpa and Walker spent quite a bit of time reading up and studying one of the more recent editions of "Vine Line". This is time well spent because....

Walker says he's going to pitch for the Cubs some day!!!

And I'm sure Grandpa will be in the front row cheering his heart out!!

Crazy Kids

They love to be in the tent! They don't always make it all night, but it's the attempt that matters to them. When we told them they would want to dress somewhat warm, this is what they came up with! Oh BOY!!

Our Mission: Red Sox Park

Red Sox ParkRed Sox Park with its neighborhood feel is tucked away along County Highway 1. The park 12.6 acres of open area, softball fields, a playground and picnic tables.

And yes, I know the flower is crazy big!! But Rylie thought she needed a Hawaiian flower with her hula girl shirt!!

Our Mission: Cleveland Elementary

Just down the hill and around the corner sits Cleveland Elementary. Cleveland houses grades 3-5, so Rylie will attend here the next few years. The kids enjoy having the playground close and I love that it has the artificial surface so it's easy for B to get around!

Rip Rap

While we were at Randy's he had just gotten in a load of rock to rip rap their shoreline, so Matt and Rylie decided to give him a hand and help him get almost one side done. They all worked hard and were ready for a break!!

 Everyone was ready for a snack break when the work was done!

 The fishing was OK. The kids each caught at least one, but their bait kept getting stolen so there was lots of casting and reeling!

The kids fished with minnows again and LOVED IT!!! They especially had fun catching them each time.

Week in Review

Matt was able to get the week off, last week, but due to a project going on at the plant, he knew there was a possibility he may get called in. So, we decided to stick around here and enjoy the week as a family. We didn't do anything spectacular, but we certainly did treasure all the time we got.

• We didn't have to get up at 5:30 every morning!!
• We caught up on all the laundry
• Cleaned the car inside and out
• Spent one afternoon at Randy's seeing Rick, fishing and swimming
• Visited Granny's Pantry and the kids stocked up on candy
• Drove out to Eagle Lake and decided the half hour drive would be well worth it to swim in water THAT clear. It was like bath water, INCREDIBLE!!
• We got a date night 
• Did our back-to-school shopping
• Matt got to play paintball
• Played lots of kickball, soccer, ladderball and baseball
• Took naps, stayed up late, slept in whenever we wanted
• Took the kids to a new dentist, they really liked him even though we are going to really miss Dr. Anderson
• Brooklyn continued to work on her walking

It was a great week! The perfect way to spend a week before the kids and I go back to school and a new routine starts for us all.

One World, Many Stories

Rylie and Walker participated in the public library's summer reading program. The balloons were what they got to fill out when they had completed their 20 hours of reading. They also received weekly prizes, a certificate, a door hanger and a small sundae from Dairy Land. The sundae was their main motivation!!
