More Pics of Little Madden

Bryan's mom. Bryan's dad. Both are happy grandparents. Their first Grandson.
I make these look cool. Spider Baby or Harley Goggles?
Mommy was mean and took pictures of daddy while he was napping. She is pretty funny sometimes.
I am going home from the hospital and daddy put me in this cool shirt.
I am fastened in my car seat and ready to go home. What is home and where is it at? By the way who is driving? I am perplexed.

I am home and resting in my new pack and play. It keeps the boys out of my face while I am downstairs.

I found out I am still Jaundice so I have to lay in the sun. It is warm and I got a tan. Look out ladies.I worked hard today on eating and pooping so I am exhausted.

Darn I am cute, especially when I am sleeping.

This is how my daddy sleeps, I learned it by watching him. Did you see the guns, they are pretty sweet.

Me, mom and dad.

Yes, my hair is strawberry blonde. More like red. Hey its little grandma.

I am getting ready for my first Reds game. I have on a reds uniform.

Note my exposed diaper. I pooped all over myself and daddy. His white shirt had a poo stain on the front. He warned mommy that I stunk, that is why she is laughing.

Daddy still loves me though.

Today I got my first bath. I liked the warm water. I peed and pooped in the sink. The warm water made me do it.

Me and little Grandma after the bath.

My aunt Carrie got me these sweet John Deere boots. I wore them to Montgomery Inn. The servers thought I was pretty cool.

Yup, I am a looker.

This was my first church outfit. The sizes were all 0-3 months. They look huge on me. Luckily mommy is pretty fashionable and she was able to make it work.

Here is me and my daddy. aren't we two cute guys!

HOME SWEET HOME

It is kind of weird the way having a baby works. You leave the house to go to the hospital as two people and come home as three. As the previous posts indicates, Madden was able to come home from the hospital on June 4th. The night was AWFUL to say the least. Bryan didn't do a very good job of explaining how terrible the experience was. We drove home from the hospital in the pouring rain. We didn't care though, because we were ecstatic to be bringing Madden home. About two hours after arriving home is when the pictures where taken. Bryan, Madden and I were sitting in the living room when the storm blew in. Bryan quickly mentioned that Madden and I needed to go to the basement. The power goes out in the mean time. After about 30 minutes in the basement Bryan decides it is safe for Madden and I to return upstairs. (While Madden and I were taking cover, Bryan is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He was searching for flashlights and candles to make sure there was plenty of light. Then, he was busy taking pictures of the yard.) About 9:30pm Bryan decides to check the basement to make sure our battery backup sump pump is working. If you know anything about our builder's track record, we should have known the answer. The idiots installed the thing upside down. So, Bryan began hauling buckets of water from the basement. I must brag a little bit. I did marry a smart man. After about a hundred trips up the stairs he did engineer quite the drainage device. He took one of the 100 quart tupperware tubs and drilled a hole in it. It was then placed over the sewer drain in the basement. He could fill that full of water with the buckets, and while waiting for it to drain carry more buckets up the stairs. Finally, he was able to come to bed about 3:30 am when the power came back on. I kept telling him to let the stupid basement flood. I truly am appreciate of his hard work and all he does.
None the less, we made it through the night.

All is Well after the Storm

Sorry for not posting in a while. More pictures will be coming soon. We came home Wednesday evening from the hospital. That night a major storm blew through. We lost power for ten hours. Our neighbor's house got struck by lightning. That in turn blew up our modem, computer, answering machine, audio system, etc. Today final the phone company was able to come out and fix our dsl line, told you it was a big storm. Madden had a doctors visit on Friday and they decided to do more testing. His jaundice levels were high again so we had to revert to some old fashion sunlight therapy. He was test again Saturday and finally today. He is good at last. He is the sweetest thing out there. Very little crying and still darn cute. I will post more pics soon. Maybe later tonight.

This is our front and back yard. Our garbage can floated away. The water in front of the house was about three feet deep. Pretty sweet. The back, who knows.

The Poo Poo Platter Anyone?

Granted this is my first kid, so I am lacking in experience, but my boy is a pooping machine. Last night we went to change his overflowing diaper. No sooner did we remove it than we hear a rumble. Then, his little butt puckered up and fired a test round if you will. A little poop squirted out of his bum. We laughed but then heard another rumble. Poo literally shot out of his butt and sprayed down the wall of the bassinet he was in. It was a good foot away. The other guy in the room laughed and said "thank goodness the bassinet wall was there or he might have sprayed me." Things were no longer funny at this point, there was poo everywhere and he was sticking his feet in it. I paged for the nurse since I was losing control quickly and because we definitely needed new bedding. I was wiping up his booty and all looked as though it might be improving. The bassinet looked like a battlefield. I had already tried to cover some of the poo up with wipes to try and keep him clean. Then, round three came upon us. With the bum pointing skyward, he fired again and filled Chelsie's hand with more beautiful black poo. I was screaming; part humor, part terror. (Bryan is a bit of a drama king for those of you who didn't know.)

On to Wednesday. Literally with the nurse present he repeated nearly the same act, without showering the bassinet. Even as I sit here, I hear him erupting next to me. Wish me well I am going in.

Finally some pictures of Madden

As mentioned previously, Madden has had some issues with jaundice. He has spent a total of about 36 hours in the incubator. We called him our little glow warm. Prior to the incubator, he just had what is called a billiblanket. The billiblanket is the blue light you see glowing underneath Madden.
Little Madden and Mommy are chilling in the hospital bed. He likes his pacifier, but is also quite content without it.

Daddy and Madden. If you can see little Madden has the hair color of his daddy. He is also definiately Bryan's because he has the little "hook ear." Both of them have one ear that doesn't have a flap on the top.

Little Glow Madden

Hi, I'm 30 minutes old. Boy, am I coot. This picture was taken just prior to leaving the labor and delivery room.

Our Little Man (Not for the Faint of Heart)

We knew he was going to be an ornery little boy from the start. He was constantly moving and kicking his mommy in the womb. Then when you consider my early childhood, Chelsie and I knew we were doomed.

So, it is now Monday afternoon and he still can not come home yet! He is still to jaundice to leave. They started him a billy blanket, but when he didn't make fast enough progress they put him in an incubator and put a giraffe light over him. When he is in the little incubator, he has to wear two sets of goggles to protect his little blue eyes. The hardest thing I have ever had to do is put these stupid little goggles over his eyes. He is usually wide awake and staring at me when I do it. It just makes me cry, he hates it. That being said, he still looks darn cute wearing the goggles. We call them his Harley goggles after Grandpa Skinner's. We will be posting pictures.

The other problem is that Chelsie was released on Sunday and Madden is still a patient, so we don't have a room. Anyway, last night we slept in the breast feeding room, but the accommodations sucked. So today we made a decision that would qualify as the second hardest thing I have ever done. Tonight we are likely going home and leaving him here. We are both crying train wrecks and usually make the nurses cry too. He will be in good hands, not ours though. We both have gotten little to no sleep over the past few days, since Wednesday night, and are physically and emotionally drained. We are not complaining of the no sleep, because little Madden is worth it. Chelsie is pumping like a mad woman today so he can eat just breast milk and not formula tonight.

Still, he is darn cute. Hopefully tonight the blogger will work so I can post Pics of our big stud. We are hopeful that the three of us will go home a happy family tomorrow.
