So I've become obsessed with Twilight. It's funny because as much as I acknowledge the poor writing and the disgustingly irresponsible message I also love the ridiculously soap-y/bad fanfic-y tone of the novels. I hate almost every character, but I can't stop myself. Also, the movie is incredible. I knew it would be. I had a great Tuesday because of it. My Wednesday was not so great, considering the ridiculous hangover, but I had an awesome time rehashing the movie with the roomies (Mike and Trobo went to see it with me).

I'm so excited for this semester to be over. It's not particularly challenging (only Latin prose comp is); I'm just over school, I think. I know now that I can't do grad school right now. I need a break from this. I'm really looking forward to going home for the break. I was originally thinking of not staying for too long, but I want to go and work and make money. I can't believe that I'm living on $150 a week. Over the summer it was nearly $450 a week. I'm not sure how I'm doing it.

I'm currently debating over going to the market. If I do then I'll have some food to eat for dinner, but I'll also have to put on clothes. Boo.

Christa took a quiz, and because I like colors and rainbows so did I!

Your rainbow is intensely shaded orange, violet, and green.

What is says about you: You are a creative person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality. Others are amazed at how you don't give up.

Settling into another year in Boston, except this time in Allston, which, if it's possible, seems to have more undergrads than BU proper. The house is amazing. I forgot how wonderful it is. As people who have seen it have said, it's one of the 3 nice houses in Allston. It's beautiful, and porchy, and green! I got the bedroom I was hoping to get. When we drew numbers and I saw that I had 1, I almost laughed out loud. It's strange, but I never considered living in one of the other bedrooms. When I imagined this year, I was always in this room. Obviously, it's not a huge deal, but I'm centered in an area that comfortable and interesting, and I'm grateful.

My classes are all manageable, it would seem. The Latin prose composition course will probably take a lot more time than I realize right now, but that's OK because it's grad level and if it wasn't challenging me then there would be something wrong. Greek history is obviously amusingly informative as J. Samons is the best lecturer at BU. Conversational Italian seems great. I already feel like I'm building up my vocabulary. Today, we watched il telegiornale on the particle accelerator. NUTS. STRING THEORY. This is going to be wacky. I'm also taking Applications Programming with ZMase, which is fun because now he realizes that it's perfectly normal to take to yourself while coding. Also, yoga! I've finally entered our huge Fitrec center. It's colossal.

Today's one of those grey days that feels inherently sad. It's windy and brisk, and huge dark clouds blot out the sun. Also, Roberts and I were talking about the upcoming summer (which is silly because it's September), and I thought we were all living here but he's going home and Zach is going to Teach for America in June. Sad. I never want Houseasaurus to end. Although, I could probably do without a certain housemate. I think about it, and I'm not sure why we're friends anymore. I can say nothing without angering her, and I'm not going to be sniped at and made to feel uncomfortable all year again.

I am making a vow right now that I will update this thing this year. It feels good to write.

I'm Not Betting On The Afterlife

So my first two weeks in Rome have been rather wonderful. I have been some pretty awesome places already, and I know more are to come shortly. The people here are surprisingly delightful; there are some who are a little beyond hope, in terms of what I'm looking for, but c'est la vie. Most of the people here are interested in getting out into the city, both to see the history and to get shitfaced, which is me in a nutshell. I just made a flickr account today so that I can put up all the pictures I'm taking, and, believe me, it's a shit ton. I'm so stoked about this program, it's ridiculous. The workload is a little uneven, as in most of our work is due Monday through Wednesday, but I have no time management skills so it's a bit of a problem. I'm hoping to fix that, if I can, maybe, but we all know how I am.

On a non-abroad related note, I took Manda's career thinger and my top ten matches are - professor, clergy, occupational therapist, ESL teacher, foreign language teacher, corporate trainer, computer trainer, gerontologist, motivational speaker, and art/music therapist. Some of them are a little questionable, but two of these items qualify as exactly what I want to do with my life.

There Is No One Compares With You

I haven't updated in over a month. It was a month during which many things happened, but it will not do to look back. Or, I'm terribly lazy. I actually have been meaning to post and to break this self-imposed hiatus, but the more I delayed, the more I had to account for in the end-hiatus post. So I've decided to just not even go back.

I have seen Stomp the Yard twice this weekend, and I do not regret that at all. It's fantastic, and I need the songs, and I need icons! This new semester is going well (I'm only a week into it), and I think I'll enjoy it although I don't really feel like doing this college thing this semester. I'm applying for the ICCS Rome program and just doing it makes me nervous. I hope I get in, but I know I'll nearly die of nerves until I get there (while I'm there, too, most likely).

I have to re-organize all of my music, and I mean file by file, because I nearly lost it all. The full story is this: I wanted to move all my media to my external hard drive, so I told my laptop to do that. My laptop decided to only give the external drive up to the I's, so all of my music after Iron & Wine was gone. Luckily, The New iPod of Glory and Fantastic-ness had it all, so I took all the music off there and put it in my external hard drive. Unfortunately, my iPod organizes music in folders F00 through F49, with each holding around 130 files named an arbitrary four letters. So, I just went through F00. It took a long time. I'm secretly very pleased because now all of my music will have the same formula for naming.

I read Good Omens over the break, and it was terribly pleasing. Now I want to read more Pratchett, and perhaps I'll give Gaiman another go. I also watched Queer as Folk seasons 1, 2, and half of 3. And, Christa, I took your advice and started watching Heroes. It's really good, and new episodes start tomorrow!

Also, I wanted to share the anecdote of my first interpersonal experience in Boston in 2007. As I came up the stairs at the Kenmore T stop, the homeless man who always sits there told me to 'have a spytacular double oh seven.' I really enjoyed that.

Embrasse-moi Longtemps

I haven't posted anything of importance in ages. Remember me stressing (well, stressing by my standards, which is really just mentioning that it has to happen at some point) about my busy week a few weeks ago? Well, I fucked my midterms in the ass. I got a 92 on my Catullus exam and a 94 on my St.Paul exam. Also, that paper I mentioned? I totally got an A on it. I think I even aced my social sciene exam even though I never read/pay attention/try in that class. That's right, I'm doing despicably well in school. Oxford just might happen.

Speaking of study abroad, I heard a fantastic rumor about BU just having set up shop with some university in Rome so that we may study there if we so wish. Rome! I could study latin in Rome! Rome! I could just keep typing 'Rome!' over and over again, hoping you'd eventually get as excited as me about it. Each time, you'd picture some different amazing aspect of Rome, and my presence there, and latin!-in!-Rome!, but I doubt anyone lacking my, uh, unique mental capacities would feel that way. Needless to say (yet I will say it anyway), I'm stoked.

Unfortunately, Salem hasn't happened. Nature conspired against us doing any seasonal day-tripping and decided to piss rain all yesterday. Whateves, it was instead a nice, lazy Saturday leading up to Matt Levin's Halloween party, which was pretty good. It did, however, get broken up by the cops around 3am. V-tas and I walked home, and I awoke with a most righteous hangover. It was unpleasant.

Another free show was seen, Viva Voce. They are a wonderful three piece act, one male & two females. The male also goes by k.Rza, and 'cracker raps,' as he puts it. More to the point, however, is that they own house. The one girl plays guitar like a man. She shreds hard. She had three guitars (pink, floral patterned, white) because she breaks strings, and fucks with the tuning. I think I developed a musical crush on her, but it's totally warranted. Robe just got the cd to me. I'm going to listen to it now.

Also, House starts back up on Tuesday, at a new later time! I just finished downloading episode four of this season because I totally missed it, but I get to watch it now! As a matter of fact, I'm going to go do that. Yessss, autism.
I really need to stop passing out when I get drunk (as Roberts deigned to write on my wall last night). I'm sure I missed out on some fun stuff last night, plus Roberts had to sleep on his own floor because I had taken his bed. It's not like I didn't get plenty of sleep the night before.

I have a pretty busy week coming, and it will only seem more so because it's only 4 days. I have two midterms on Wednesday, greek and latin, but I'm proud of me because I've already had my greek study group (where we went over all of it), and the latin one is tonight. I ought to be editing my paper that's due tomorrow, and maybe starting that annotated bibliography. I honestly never thought I'd have to do another annotated bib in my life. I can't tell if it makes me pleased in a reminiscing sort of way or makes me want to tear my hair out. Maybe the two aren't as different as one would think.

I think I want Salem to happen this coming weekend. They apparently have extended hours in October for "Haunted Happenings." Lame. But it will be fun. All of this October-y goodness is threatening to explode in my chest. As I walked home today, clear, pastel sunlight, ever so slightly brisk, I crunched yellow, red, orange, brown leaves under the soles of my shoes. I love October.

Does anyone have suggestions for a Halloween costume? I'm going to go shower and then do work! I think every weekend should be three days. Let's write a letter to someone about that.

We'll Make Our Homes on the Water

So, I've done nothing all day besides download entire albums by The Frames; however, I did have a good last night and an even better dinner with ZMase.

Last night was Matt Levin's Angels & Demons Party, which was very good! I approve of the new location, though it's smaller and therefore much warmer than the Gardner House. I really enjoyed my costume because I like cream colored lace and glitter, which is all I did for the costume. I had glitter everywhere, and will continue to do so for months now, but I don't mind because I like glitter. I may even like it an inordinate amount. Oh, I also braided ribbons of paper into a halo. It was a little touch. Mike and I started early by having a 40 each so we arrived in a pretty good and drunk state already. It was fun, I talked a surprising amount to certain people whom I didn't expect to be so personable. He just sat down next to me and started talking and listening and being nice. It was a little disconcerting, but I like to think I handled the situation with an aplomb almost out of the reach of someone's who's ten drinks into the evening. Anyway, I like where he is now, and who he's there with, and I would never do anything to ruin that. He needs it more than I need him. Because I don't even need him, I just want to win. I need to work on that. ZMase and Keight were gentlemen and walked me home, and then Ver was ill, but she's very self-contained and wouldn't have me help her. She's fine.

Today, ZMase and I had dinner after I slept and then loafed about all day. We talked about certain Ver Issues, and how we wish we could make her see. Then we planned my life:

One day, I will finally make the short film about how Casey was assaulted while dressed as a large soft drink cup. People will love it, and thinking it's symbolic for something, they will give me an Oscar. At some point during my Oscars acceptance speech, I will thank ZMase, and a little later make a really outlandish comment, most likely racist, and I will be shunned. No one will work with me, and I move to France because France likes me as they figure I must have done something good to make all of America hate me. I'll buy the chateau next to Johnny Depp, and we'll become fast friends, as he understand my need to express myself as an artist. We'll roll cigarettes together, and he'll stand up for me in public. I'll continue my film work, and only the Cannes Film Festival will show it. Also during this period I will write a brilliant translation of The Aeneid, which will within ten years become the standard english translation. During this fame, I will tour univeristies to make speeches. At one university, I will be completely sloshed and once again earn myself some bad press. ACCLAIMED CLASSICS SCHOLAR KIRSTEN CROOKS GETS DRUNK, RAISES CONFEDERATE FLAG the papers will say, and I'll once again flee to France, where I'll busy myself babysitting Johnny Depp's children. A little after this, an industrious undergrad (a fellow ancient greek, latin, & english major) will notice how I've not translated so much as piecemealed lines of poetry from obscure eighteenth century Scottish writers into a loose semblance of The Aeneid. I'll become the pariah of classics academia and continue to make films. When Ver discovers the cure for AIDS, she'll speak out in public for me (Kirsten Crooks was my roomie, let her back in the country), and I'll make another short film. It will be unanimously popular even though it's dreadful boring. People will feel it's necessary to see the film about the cure for AIDS, it's really important even if they never really cared before. This is the film that will earn me my star, and I'll be studied in film classes for another 75 years or so until AIDS becomes a social blip, kind of like polio, and no one will really care anymore.

We also came up with another outlandish scenario after Parade magazine told me that Paris Hilton plans to be celibate for a year because people are bored of her having sex with everyone. ZMase thought it would be a better idea if she decided to have sex with 365 men in a year, which of course will lead to her getting AIDS. I'm hot, she'll say, but you know what's not? AIDS. And she'll begin to wear a t-shirt that says I HAVE AIDS by Marc Jacobs, and soon everyone will be wearing it, because it's symbolic. Too many Africans they don't care about are dying everyday, and it's cool to care about Africa. Marc Jacobs will make millions on his "We All Have AIDS" line, and even when it's announced that Paris is actually clean (it was a false positive, one in every hundred, they say), people will still wear their I HAVE AIDS shirts. And then Verity will discover the cure for AIDS, and no one will care anymore.

I should got do work. I keep being behind, I need to be a better student.

I'll Be Counting Up My Demons

I just finished my second week of this semester, and I'm already behind in all of my classes. Well, I corrected that situation tonight, now I'm behind in only one of my classes, but still. Boo. I don't think I'll ever catch up in sociology. I remember in high school when we took 'sociology,' and I actually thought it was interesting. Now, I actually have to read Hobbes and Locke, and I can't be bothered. Boo, social contract theorists, take that shit home!

Also, in Greek we're reading Paul's first letter to the corinthians, so of course I was on the internet reading its translation today. But when I was done, I went and read some fic. I think I'm going to hell for opening fanfiction in the same window as the bible.

I kind of really want to come home before Thanksgiving. Now, in all honesty, I could go to Chinatown, take the Fung Wah bus to NYC's Chinatown, get on NJTransit to Trenton, and then do it all in reverse to get back, and all for around $40, but this has a few problems. I don't know how long it would actually take me to do this, plus I don't know how to navigate myself around NYC. I do in theory, but who can actually read a subway map?

Well, I leave you with that dilemma. I should really get to bed as I slept though all of my classes Friday, and I really shouldn't do that two classes in a row. I mean, I do the crossword in every sociology class, but it looks like I'm working, plus I get a good brain exercise!

I Killed You Politely

This is the coolest icon ever made. Raito and Ursula come together in a wonderful feat of evil awesomeness.

In other news, I'm back in Boston. I would write more, but I don't want to.

He Quivers When He Hears Your Song

So I'm an official waitress. Plus, Carri took the job as late night cashier, so we get to work together! Tonight is our first time on shift together. I love being home, lounging and seeing everyone whom I've known my entire life. It's been fairly boo-ish weather lately: no sun, all humidity, lightning, and thunder, and torrential downpours, OH MY. I like the storms, but they make my driving annoyingly more difficult than it ought to be.

I've recently started a love affair with the word 'ought'. It's a good one, I feel. I've been using it fairly often.

I miss the Boston kids. I want Robe and Colin to come and visit SOON. And, guh, Ver got an e-mail from housing about her room next year, but I haven't gotten one. In case you didn't know, we're going to be in the same room, so it's a 'WTF, BU?' situation.

OK, I have to clean my room, shower, wash my uniform.
