Big Milestones

Today our little guy hit a milestone. I know that I am a new mother, but my heart jumped a little when I saw him. Because TODAY my son rolled over all by himself! I didn't instigate it. I didn't give him a nudge. I even almost missed it and probably would not have even taken a second thought to it. I put Brock on his stomach in his room, left to get his pants from the living room to get him dressed. Just as I walked back into the room, he rolled! I would have missed it had I walked in 2 seconds later, and probably wouldn't realize anything had happened and instead thought I had put him on his back. But I caught it and later today, we even caught it for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy...

Counting My Blessings

Today I woke up and saw things in a little different light. I do not know WHY today, but I am so thankful for today. I saw my son Brock and could not take my eyes off of him. His smile brought me to tears. I found myself thanking God for this blessing in my life. I could not have imagined it possible and I asked my husband if he could believe that we were so blessed. God gave us the possibility of having Brock. With God's help, we created this little person that brings so much light into our lives. I looked at his little toes, his hair that is growing longer each day, I clipped his finger nails, and in seeing all of these things, I gave so much thanks. I may have sleepless nights, and I may be in tears due to stress and over exhaustion, I may get frustrated when my son won't eat or go to bed or will not stop crying, but after today I realize all that I have. I realize what a beautiful family I have. I realize how much love and support we have. I realize how wonderful my husband is. I have seen all these things before and realized them before, but today it sank in just a little deeper and filled my heart that much more.

Updates

So once again, it has taken me a long time to get to posting. I am beginning to see a pattern here no matter how many times I tell myself that I am going to change that. But here are the updates.

I am now 1/2 time. Prior to last week I was working two 1/2 time positions to make my full time job. I gave notice early January to one of these positions and as of last week went 1/2 time. It was a great week! However, with the upcoming Institute in March for the 1/2 time position I have kept, I will need to go back to full time for about 1 month prior to the Institute...here we go again! Hopefully it won't burn me out.

We tried the Cry Out Method with Brock. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. I think that I cried just as much as my son did, if not more. My mom moved in with us for a long weekend. And thank goodness she did! She sent Tim and myself down to bed with earplugs on and said that she would come and get me when Brock needed to be fed. It worked! Brock has been sleeping in 4 to 5 hour stretches. Life is a whole lot different around here when I get a little bit of sleep. Of course every night is not the same and some nights are better than others, however, it is all an improvement.

We have started Brock on some Rice Cereal. Some days he likes it, other days he doesn't. But it may be filling up his little tummy at night to help him sleep a little better. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will be starting him on some other foods that might have a bit more flavor...he may be interested then!

There is nothing that touches my heart more than my laughing son! It is the most beautiful sound to a mother's ears. Sweat music! We haven't been able to catch it on camera as of yet because Brock is not camera shy. Even when there is no flash light on the camera, once the camera is brought out, Brock's eyes are glued onto the camera trying to figure out what the heck we are doing. It doesn't make for many candid shots around here anymore!

But with that, my son is hitting milestones. I am so excited to watch him every day as I can see him thinking and processing the world around him. He knows who his mom and dad are. He looks around and tries to understand how things go together. I like to sit back and watch him.

So that is what is new around here. Hopefully I will remember to blog next weekend...Ha! Until then our jungle will stay a little crazy!

Orthodontist in the House

It looks like we might have an Orthodontist in the House!
Brock is at the point where he wants to put everything into his own mouth.
But also is interested in everything else around him that he can put his hands on.

Hungry Hungry Boy

Our little guy is trying to get the hang of Rice Cereal!
It is pretty funny. Some days he loves it, other days, not so much.
We put the bib on him and I think he sometimes uses it like a napkin and hides all the food in it!
Ha, the stinker!
