This past spring Tim and I took out all the bushes behind our house and planted a small garden. Every day Tim, Champ and I would take a walk around the yard and look at my flowers and Tim's garden. Tim is so proud of his crop. We planted radishes, beats, beans, peppers, melon, pumpkin, corn, cucumbers, strawberries, onions, carrots, and peas.
Unfortunately we have found that Champ should not have gone on these short walks around the yard with us, or she gets board when she is home all day long. She is usually the first to spy on the strawberry crop and the pea crop and gets to them before we do.
But when she got to the melon's, well, that was about the time that our chuckles about her snagging our food turned to frowns.
She ate two melons. The only two melons we had. I was weeding the flower bed and thought she had her tennis ball, but when I turned around again later, realized she had eaten half a melon. Then a different day she snagged the other one.
So this morning I had to sneak out to the garden to take the picture below (without Champ seeing me) so that we could have some proof that one more melon was coming through!
My guess is that it may disappear anytime now.

The Hornet's Nest in the tree above the garden. We haven't seen any hornets bothering us this summer. But when we had a neighbor over the other day, she pointed it out to us. After reading up on some information my mom sent us (they are black hornets) it said that they usually eat flies and insects. Maybe they are helping our garden grow? Either way, once the cooler weather appears, it's got to go.

Maybe it was just me, but after taking 15 shots in the same pose we finally got one with everyone looking at the camera, YAHOOOO!
