After a month of fun Halloween-themed events, finally the big day arrived. At school, the kids were encouraged to dress as a favorite literary character for a Storybook parade. Eleanor grabbed our costume box's Hermione robe and decided to match with Adelaide in her Hufflepuff robes.   A couple of witches ready to hear to Hogwarts... um... Barnard. We had a quick dinner and then were off for trick or treating!   First we pose by the ghost! Barnard's annual literacy night was a hit with our kids. From writing and crafts to storytelling, they could have stayed all night. Plus, they were encouraged to wear book-character costumes. Which means, our wizards were back in action!  Making a howler Ready to mail their angry howlers!  Designing a new dress   Listening to a story-teller. Plus snacks!  Finding sight words in the sensory bucket  Ms. Andrews, still a favorite! 

A few weeks ago, we got a pretty scary call. Grandpa Phil had taken a fall and was in intensive care with a fractured skull. It was a nervous few days as we waited for word that the bleeding had stopped and the healing begun. And, it was a great relief when the CAT scans showed the positive results we'd all been hoping and praying for. After a week in the hospital, Grandpa was transferred to a recovery facility for rest and help while he regained his strength. Once he was at the recovery center, the kids were able to make short visits, which made them so happy. They were sad about the injury, but told Grandpa that he could make the staples in the back of his head part of his Halloween costume. Today, he was finally able to break out and get back home. He and Grandma are relieved to be heading home at last, and we're so happy to see Grandpa acting more like his normal self.  Up and about in the step down unit. We got a call from our good friends the Browns that they were in town for the weekend to go to Legoland. So, of course we dropped everything and sallied forth. More hay bale pictures! Their youngest is also named Jefferson, and he couldn't wait to meet our Jefferson. The two Jefferson's hit it off and had a blast. They were bummed when we had to leave. When you are the only one too short for the  roller coaster, you get the airplane ride to yourself. Making Corey haul our kids! Wish these boys lived close to each other Big kids table! We love their annual Fall party, as the kids show off all the songs and dances they've been learning. And, they are so cute in their costumes!  Eleanor ever won one of the costume contest prizes. The boys' school had their bi-annual family nights. The boys have been so excited, practicing their songs all around the house and reminding us that it was coming for the past two weeks. They were so cute singing their songs, loud and clear! It's always so fun to see them playing with their friends. Jefferson was immediately mobbed by Lauren, Mia and all the other girls from the class. Steven ran off with his buddy Brennan. They were in their element. During their song, Steven looked at the girl next to him during a small break in the music and told her, "You look beautiful." She smiled and said, "Thank you."
