Happy Half-Birthday to Eleanor! Eleanor celebrated her half-birthday with an exciting trip to the doctor to get a trio of booster shots. Ummm.... poor baby. Eleanor sure has grown a lot since she was a sleepy little newborn. At the doctor's office today we learned that she has more than doubled her weight. Eleanor has consistently been tracking along the 50 percentile line for height and weight. But, today she came in at 95% for height. Growth spurt! No wonder all her footie pajamas are getting tight. Melinda is considering apologizing to the washing machine for accusing it of shrinking Eleanor's onesies. Here is our half b-day cutie playing  before she went in for the check-up. Generally, we like to blog about events. Something happens... we write about it, throw in some pictures and circulate it to the general public. However, we were recently sorting through our photos and noticed that there are quite a few blog-worthy snap shots that have no "event." They document our daughters' everyday, around-the-house cuteness. And, we simply couldn't deny their grandparents a chance to scroll through them! Mommy's kitchen helper cooking up something yummy. She thinks the smock is overkill... ...but we know better! Eleanor is a very enthusiastic eater. Adelaide and Cornelius hangin' in one of our many box forts. Today we celebrated a little known and certainly under-appreciated holiday - National Bowling Day. National Bowling Day doesn't have any official political designations or anything like that... it is a holiday made up by the bowling lobby, or national bowling association, or whoever it is that advocates bowling. But when we heard their slogan, "Everyone in America bowls free...," we were ready to carve bowling balls and hang pins from an evergreen. This was Adelaide's first trip to the bowling alley. She was pretty thrilled and sang Raffi's "Bowling Song" about three times in the car on the way to the alley. Her excitement hit a new high when she found out she got to wear a pair of shiny, colorful shoes. And, when she learned she was allowed to carry around a heavy ball and push it down a greased lane as hard as she could...well, it was two year old heaven. Shoes! Heavy Ball! We love, love, LOVE the daycare that Adelaide and Eleanor attend. The woman who runs it is sweet, organized, caring and fanatically clean - everything you could want in a child care provider. Our wonderful neighbor and daycare provider, Dilek. The girls can't wait for the picture taking to be over, so they can go play. But, Adelaide is getting older, and she's outgrown the in-home care center. Her conversation skills have moved from basic sentences to down right sassy. She knows her colors, shapes, ABCs, and basic counting - all the good stuff. Our precocious and curious two year old is ready for the next step. So today was Adelaide's first day of school! (We're using the term "school" loosely here.) After a brief stint on the wait list, Adelaide was able to enroll in a fabulous montessori school just two miles from our home. Adelaide is in the pre-Montessori two year old class and next year she'll be in the official Montessori program. She'...
