Happy Birthday Eleanor!

This past Friday was an important day. George Washington turned 281 years old. And, more importantly, Eleanor rounded out her first year. One year old! Eleanor and our first president have a lot in common. In addition to sharing a birthday, neither of them have very many teeth. Has it really only been one year since this bright, bold little baby came into our lives - demanding attention, snatching toys and covering us in slobbery kisses? Eleanor received several packages and cards throughout the week from thoughtful relatives and friends. Adelaide was happy to teach her how to rip open the wrapping. Not that Eleanor really needed much help; pulling things apart and creating a mess are natural talents for her. Grandma Jones sent matching dresses for both girls. By the time her actual birthday arrived, Eleanor was a wrapping-paper ripping pro.  Good Morning Birthday Girl! Eleanor didn't want to pose for pictures.  There were toys to play with, boxes t...

You Make My Heart Glow

Happy Valentines Day! We really meant to take more pictures today.... but, at some point the camera was put down and we forgot to pick it back up. Blame it on a busy morning. We love to celebrate the "minor" holidays with big breakfasts and small gifts. Even though it's a weekday, we scrambled to fit in some family fun before we all had to rush out the door. We did remember to photograph the girls. But, alas, Melinda and Matt were completely undocumented. It's a shame, Melinda was even wearing a pink sweater. But, you didn't really want to see us anyhow, right? Here are the kids. Adelaide took these glow bracelet  Valentines to school. They were a big hit.  Adelaide had NO idea...

Olivia! Oh... And Her Parents

When we first moved out to Virgina, Melinda had an aunt and uncle that lived just across the river in Maryland. We loved having them as our neighbors. It became even more fun when they had a little girl just two days after we welcomed Adelaide into the world. Perfect, right? We knew that Adelaide and Olivia would be best friends forever.... until, they all moved to California! Booo! Sure the weather is beautiful, it's closer to the rest of our family and Doug got a dream job... but still... We were delighted when they flew out for a quick visit to the area last weekend. Doug claims it was for meetings of some kind. But, we're pretty sure they just didn't want to hang out in San Fransisco after their old hometown team just whipped the Niners in the Super Bowl. We were able to see the whole family at a brunch held for all of Angela and Doug's old friends. Adelaide and Olivia were shy for about five minutes - until they figured out they both ...
