Today, August 30, 2020, we went back to sacrament meeting for the first time since March 8, 2020. It was very different with everyone in masks, but it seemed good to be back with our ward family. I played the organ, which consisted of prelude, postlude and a sacrament hymn that nobody sang. As I was playing the sacrament hymn, I was watching the priests, which today happened to be PJ Pearmain and his dad, Steve Pearmain. As they broke the bread it was done slowly and deliberately. They were putting one piece of bread in a sacrament water cup and the cups were placed in every other hole in the water tray. The melchizedek priesthood holders who were passing the sacrament carried two trays; a water tray with the bread in individual cups and an empty bread tray, which we put the empty cup in after we had partaken of the bread. As I was watching them break that bread, piece by piece, and carefully place it in the cup, it seemed very personal to me. I had an overwhelming feeling that the Savior had atoned for my sins, in a very personal way. This is doctrine I have known and had a testimony of for years, but was reaffirmed today as I took that single piece of bread from an individual cup. How grateful I am for the opportunity to repent and partake of the sacrament weekly, whether it be in our homes or whether it be in our church building.
