“Hey, Sergei… I think I’m done for.”
“Girl, this is the second time in a week you’ve been shot.
You immortal or what.”
“Before I die… tell me your real name.”
“My real name?
Sergei. Sergei Ivan Antorokovich.
You already know that.”
“You don’t look remotely Eastern European.”
“It’s just in your head.”
“You think so?”
“I think so.”
“What’s your nationality then? Russian?”
“My nationality is heaven.
But right now I’m an American.”
“Tell me an American joke.”
“You’re dyin’, and you still givin’ orders…
Fine, here goes.
So, bumblebees ain’t supposed to fly, right?
But they fly anyway.
You know why?
Because the bumblebee don’t KNOW it ain’t supposed to fly!”
“…Sergei, I respect your knowledge.
But that wasn’t funny at all.”
“That so.”
“Meaningless.”
“True.”
“Hey Sergei… want to know my real name?”
“Not particularly.”
“It’s Yumiko.”
“You clearly look like a full-on white woman and your name is Yumiko!?
You mixed?”
“No, a pure Japanese.
So now tell me your real name.”
“…Kubo.
Minoru Kubo.”
“Minoru Kubo…
What a powerful name.
Like a divine command straight from the heavens…
It suits you perfectly.”
“It ain’t that deep.”
“My last name, guess it.”
“Guessing!? That’s impossible.
Ikeda? Saito? …Nakamura?”
“Mukele Mobembe.
Mukele Mobembe Yumiko.”
“What kinda monster-name is that!?
You definitely mixed!”
“Meaningless, names.”
“You brought it up.”
“Look, Sergei.
The car navigation—
it keeps saying ‘Follow the road’ over and over.”
“That’s some lazy GPS guidance.
Always thought so.”
“Maybe we’re the same.
Just ‘follow the road, straight ahead’ all the way to heaven.”
“…You’re good.
You should’ve become a Rakugo performer.”
“No way.
Being a Rakugo apprentice is brutal.
All that training… all that serving the master…”
“Better than gettin’ shot to death.”
“You’re right.
If I ever became an apprentice… I’d choose…”
“Choose WHO!?
Don’t die mid-sentence!
Now I REALLY wanna know!
Come on, tell me!
Who would you apprentice under!?”
“…Of course, Hayashiya Pei.”
“…Sounds fun.”
