Happy 2nd Birthday Lil Man!

I cannot believe 2 years have already gone by. Wyatt is such a blessing and everyday he makes me smile. He just has such a love for life and is a purely happy 2 year old. He has such a fun personality and is high energy but and at times he can be stubborn. His vocabulary is taking off - I think everyday he has more words and is putting longer and longer sentences together. This morning when Max went outside Wyatt stood by the door and said "Daddy, come back - right now". He has stayed healthy (with a bit of a cough) ever since he had his surgery, I am so thankful for that. At his two year appointment (May 6th) the doctor said he was doing great and he finally made it on the growth curve for weight so we will continue to feed him Pediasure to hopefully help him gain more weight. It was funny when we pulled into the parking lot of the doctor's office Wyatt said "Pretty Doctor" - I looked and Max and said seriously you said that and Max denied it so I am not sure where Wyatt picked that one up or does it start that early? :)

Weight: 23 lbs 6 oz (5th percentile)

Height: 34 inches (25 to 50 percentile)

Still our little peanut!! 

We took Wyatt to a small carnival in Waterford for his birthday. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate very much but he enjoyed himself. He was unsure about some of the rides at first but after he got over the initial fright he wanted to ride over and over again. 

He loved going on the merry go around and riding the horses up and down.

 Wyatt and Kaylynn were recipients of a lot of beautiful carnival toys thanks to Aunt Christy, Aunt Micki, Uncle Ryan and Uncle Adam. We can not thank you enough! 

Wyatt seemed to enjoy the ride down the big slide but only went on this one time. 

His birthday party had a Curious George theme and were were lucky enough to find a Monkey shaped cupcake cake. 

Wyatt got super excited when we brought out his cake - he still really did not know what to do with the candles but loved the frosting. Please note Michelle in the upper left of this picture (this was courtesy of her husband)

A little practice making a mess before her birthday. 

 Wyatt got many fun toys this birthday from a basketball hoop to a sand box to lake toys to a ball and bat to a picnic table and of course more matchbox cars from daddy (Max is really working to teach Wyatt all the types of cars). It is cute, Wyatt calls Max's Mustang "Daddy's Toy".  

Aunt Christy teaching Wyatt how to hit the ball off of the tee. I foresee quite a few broken things in my future. Hopefully soon it will be warm enough to keep these toys outside.

10 Months

I never thought I would say this but Kaylynn is harder to photograph then Wyatt was. She is constantly moving around and will not sit still. This is the best picture we could get of her. 

Man has this been a month of accomplishments for Kaylynn. She is walking really well behind her push toys and has learned to turn and move around them to go in different directions. She also took 3 steps toward me on her own. I think she will be walking very soon as she is really determined and is working hard on standing up on her own. She has started to eat more and more people food as well- bread, apples, hot dogs, cheese and loves yogurt. The other day we were going up stairs with Wyatt and Kaylynn climbed all the way up the stairs by herself (pretty good for only her second time on the steps).  Her fine motor skills are also coming along great she has learned to clap and knows the sign for more but it looks a lot like clapping right now.  In the last few days she has also started to get tougher and she is sticking up for herself with Wyatt, fighting back a little bit when he takes toys. With all of these good advancements you have to have one negative and she is becoming a little short tempered and when she wants something she lets you know she wants it NOW! We are still working on the clingy thing but she is doing much better.

Wyatt asked to watch the Cars movie the other day and when the first scene came on with music and Lightning racing he was super excited (above picture). Wyatt's vocabulary is taking off. He is using 3 to 4 word sentences on a regular basis and everyday picks up new words. He also loves music and dancing.

Kaylynn gets so excited when she claps. Unfortunately tonight we had our first fat lip. Kaylynn was pushing a toy and it flipped up and hit her in the face and caught the corner of her lip. It was our first bloody lip :(

Surgery/Easter

We have been taking Wyatt to an ENT for a few months now and had been trying to avoid getting tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed. However, at the last appointment we made the decision to have tubes put in and if the adenoids needed to be removed the doctor would make the call when he was in surgery. Well the surgery came faster then we thought. We decided on Monday and on Thursday (April 21st) at 0700 we were at Children's Hospital in Detroit with Wyatt. Wyatt could not eat or drink in the morning which I thought would be devastating but he was a trooper. I got him up early took him straight to the car and went to pick Max up from work and Wyatt was in a great mood. Wyatt got all checked in and he weighed 22 lbs 11oz and was 33 inches tall - he got changed into his hospital gown which was super cute. 

 They were giving all the kids Easter Baskets that went into surgery that day, which was nice because it kept him somewhat entertained while we waited to be taken to surgery. I was able to go in with him while they put him to sleep. It was pretty hard on me as I helped hold him down as they put him to sleep.  

We waited for about 30 minutes for him to get out of surgery and then another 45 or so before we could go in and see him. They did end up taking his adenoids out because they were enlarged and they said he had a lot of mucus and infection in his ears and throat. He was in pain after surgery but was able to fall asleep on me for awhile, however when he woke up he always would pull on the IV and say "let go, let go" - he really wanted that IV out of his hand. We were discharged around 1230 and on the way home Wyatt wanted to hold my hand as he fell asleep in his car seat. I would try and get my figure out of his grip but every time I moved my hand he woke up and wanted me to hold his hand. Overall he did great, he took Tylenol with codeine 3 times, we watched a lot of sesame street, had a treat of ice cream and I slept with him on the couch from 330 to 600 the night of his surgery. But by Friday he had completely bounced back and you could not even tell he had surgery. And let me tell you I noticed a difference the first night -- I could not hear him breathing on his monitor so I had to go up and check to see if he was still breathing because I could always hear him breath before. I also think he sleeps more soundly as I do not hear him flop around as much either. So far it was a great decision.

The kids really enjoyed Easter this year. We had a full day on Easter Sunday (unfortunately Max had to work): went to church, went to Brunch at the Davison Country Club and then went to the firestation to see Max. 

Kaylynn loved the Easter Bunny she snuggled right up to him. Wyatt on the other hand cried every time we mentioned the Easter Bunny and sitting on his lap. 

It was awesome to have my Grandparents up to celebrate Easter with us. Wyatt got to hang out with his Great Grandpa Bob.
