Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to all. Max and I ventured across the country to visit his parents in Spokane Washington for Christmas and the flights were as relaxing as you can imagine with a 19 month old and a 6 month old :). All in all they did really well it is just hard to contain a very active child on a long flight in a small space. 

Kaylynn enjoyed opening presents and playing with her new toys however at times I think Wyatt liked her new toys more :) I think in his mind he got twice as many new toys to play with. We are still working on the sharing thing.

Wyatt is at the really fun age and is understanding what opening presents means so he ripped into his presents this year and was actually more interested in the toy rather than the paper and box.

Max was able to skiing with his dad, aunt, uncle and cousins one of the days so that was a blast for them. Here is a picture of them on Look Out. The runs are a bit longer than anything Max has snowboarded in awhile due to the Michigan flatness.

While Max and Neil were hitting the slopes; Gail and I took the kids to the Mobius Kids museum and Wyatt had a blast playing in the water table, climbing on things and playing the drums. It was a place where he could run and burn off some energy which was much needed.

We had a blast in Washington visiting family and just relaxing. Gammy and Pops watched the kids a couple of times so Max and I could go out with his cousins once and out to lunch once. It was really nice of them and great that the kids got to spend some time with Max's parents.  The trip home went pretty well both kids slept for about an hour and a half on the flight and did really well while they were awake. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!!

Note: The first picture in this posting is from our photo session for our Christmas pictures and let me tell you that was an adventure in itself. Wyatt was not being very cooperative and Kaylynn was getting sick but all in all I do not think it turned out too bad given the circumstances. 

December Happenings!!

Last weekend the kids and I went to Ryan's country club in Davison to have brunch and meet Santa. Unfortunately Max had to work so he was unable to go with us.

Kaylynn was Santa's little elf. The cutest elf ever.

Wyatt however was not too excited to see Santa this year.

Wyatt is still on breathing treatments twice a day and he is pretty easy going about them most of the time. We try and do them in the morning (right when he gets up) and at night right before he goes to bed so he is a little calmer than normal.

Wyatt still loves to read books and Kaylynn has started to like reading books as well.

Unfortunately our furnace went out this weekend but luckily Max was home and he as able to get someone out to fix it. It was a bit chilly in the house and the kids woke up in the middle of the night because they were cold but all in all it was not unbareable.

I would have to say one of Wyatt's favorite things now are shoes. He likes to put on Max's shoes but gets frustrated because he can not pick his feet up when he has the shoes on.

Kaylynn is just a happy little baby girl. However the last few days she has gotten a bit of a cold and today I took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with RSV. She is now on breathing treatments just like Wyatt so night time is like a pharacy around here I feel like. She is still sleeping and eating well which is good -- she is 16 lbs 12 oz and 27 inches long. I am hoping that both kids start feeling better especially before we head to Spokane next weekend.

Wyatt loves to dance with Kaylynn and she just laughs at him. This is a video of Wyatt being super sweet to Kaylynn and dancing with her -- What he is saying is row boat -- meaning he wants us to sing 'row row row your boat ....'

5 Months Old

Kaylynn is growing like a weed and has really started to explore her surroundings lately. She is talking more and more and she is on the verge of sitting up on her own. She is just a happy baby and loves to watch her brother.

 We started her eating cereal the other night and she seems to love it. She is doing well opening her mouth however is still having a little trouble moving the food from the front of her mouth to the back but that will just be a matter of time. Wyatt did not really like the fact that Kaylynn was sitting in his highchair. He is not too fond of this sharing thing.

Kaylynn seems to like to impersonate a fish lately.

What a week.

This week of Thanksgiving has left me very Thankful. It all started Monday morning when Wyatt was sent home from daycare with what they thought was pink eye. Max took him to the doctor and they said that he had pink eye, a double ear infection and a slight case of pneumonia. They gave us anti-biotics and eye drops so we started those as soon as possible. On Tuesday Wyatt was up and down but it did not seem like his cough was getting any better. He went to bed pretty well however at 230 in the morning he woke up and he was working pretty hard to breathe so Max and I decided we needed to take him to the ER. When Max got there with him they gave him a breathing treatment, put an IV in his arm and took a chest X-ray. Fortunately the X-ray came back clear however they were still concerned with how hard he was working to breath so they admitted him to the hospital. I got to the hospital at about 7 am to let Max go to work and we were figuring that he would be out of the hospital later that morning. However, that turned out to be wrong. They decided to keep him overnight and give him breathing treatments every 4 hours. It was night a fun night in the hospital sharing the uncomfortable hospital chair with Wyatt was not the most ideal. However, we got some sleep and he seemed to be a bit better in the morning. We saw the doctor in the morning and they discharged us with a breathing machine, steroids, and anti-biotics. Not knowing how long Wyatt would be in the hospital Max left work which was nice to have him home on Thanksgiving but it was not under the best circumstances. All in all Wyatt is on the mend and is having less and less breathing treatments. The worry Max and I have is that we hope Kaylynn did not get this and so far so good.  This Thanksgiving was nice -- we had the whole family over to our house and despite a couple of episodes of puking from Wyatt is was a nice Thanksgiving. 

 Wyatt thought that it was really fun to put Daddy's hat on Kaylynn however Kaylynn really did not like it too much. 

I found this truck at a Mom to Mom Sale for 15 dollars and Wyatt loves it. Too bad the weather is getting colder and he has been sick the last few weeks but I am sure he will enjoy it next spring. It was really cute, Kaylynn fit perfectly in the back of the pick-up bed and Wyatt liked driving her around.

 Kaylynn is starting to sit up on her own now. She is not really steady but she can sit there for a couple of minutes.

Check -ups

I know it is a little early for Christmas pajamas however Kaylynn is growing so fast that I am afraid she will out grow her PJ's before Christmas so I wanted to get some pictures before that. We took both the kids to the doctor today for their 4 month and 18 month check ups. Here are the updates:

Wyatt: The doctor says he is doing great with his development and is advanced in his speaking. Here are some of his new words: diaper, rocking, Oscar (Ryan and Micki's dog), Ryan, puzzle, school, teeth, night night, thank you, cracker, nose, open and eat (which he also signs). I am sure I am missing some but it is pretty awesome to see him learning everyday. He is just about over his ear infection so I hope it does not come back anytime soon but all in all he was a trooper and he takes his medicine really well. He did gain some weight which is great. His new stats are

Weight: 20 lbs 12 oz (below 5th percentile)

Length: 32.5 inches (50-75th percentile)

Kaylynn is growing like a weed and is developing right on track as well. She has really started to interact with Max and I by grabbing onto our hands all the time, she also rolls to her side to ensure she can see what all is going on. She is trying to sit up and really loves to watch Wyatt while he is playing. The doctor said she is doing great as well. We are not going to start her on solid food just yet but in the next month or so we will be starting her on cereal. Here are her new stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 7 oz (75-90th percentile)
Length: 25 inches (75th percentile)

Four Months Old

Four months already gone and today I sat and reflected on when we first brought her home I was overwhelmed with having two kids but now it is old hat. Max and I have really settled into our family of four and it is such a joy and blessing to have them both.  

On my week away to multiple cities Micki met me and brought Kaylynn to Va Beach and her first ever plane ride. And she did awesome she barely fussed and slept most of the way to Va Beach and home again. She was such a trooper!! Kaylynn also got to meet my good friend Carrie as we were down there celebrating her marriage to Kris.

Some of Kaylynn's new things are she is rolling from back to front both to her left and to her right. She is starting to try to get her legs under her when she is doing tummy time. She has really found her voice she is talking alot and has a great little laugh. And as you can see she found her feet (which makes diaper changes more challenging now).

Happy Halloween!!

We had a scary dragon and a precious ladybug for halloween this year. Luckily we picked warm costumes as the weather was a little chilly for trick or treating. Wyatt really did not understand the concept of trick or treating but he loved to put candy into his pumpkin and then dump it out and re-fill.

Unfortunately Max had to work again this Halloween but we went up to visit him for a while so he could see the kids in their costumes and of course we had to take pictures on the fire truck. 

This is the cutest bug around!!

 Wyatt loves to get onto any computer so when he saw the laptop sitting on the floor off he decided he needed to pull it on his lap and start to work.

Recently Wyatt has been getting really jealous and wants everything that Kaylynn has but he is learning to share but only after quite a few tears. Since Kaylynn has been more and more interactive Wyatt has really started to like to pay attention to her. They are going to have a blast when Kaylynn gets a bit older. 

I had to be on travel for work for a week so Max got to spend some quality time with the kids as a single dad and the kids did great but I am sure Max was relieved when I finally got home.  While I was gone Wyatt got to help Daddy rake and pick up leaves he loves being outside. 

 Wyatt has started to say cheese for the camera so here is a picture of him cheesing for the camera.

Rolling Over

 Kaylynn has been trying to roll over from back to front for the last couple of days and tonight she finally got it accomplished. She still gets stuck with her arm pinned under her but she likes to turn over. It is funny that Kaylynn has learned to roll back to front as Wyatt learned to roll from front to back first.

Kaylynn is starting to interact more with Wyatt and she loves to watch him. She is also not as fragile so I am not so worried that he will break her.

We have really been enjoying the nice fall weather. We are able to walk to the elementry school and there are multiple jungle gyms there that Wyatt loves to play on. Kaylynn also likes to be outside and looking around. Below are some pictures of they kids outside on a beautiful fall day. 

Back To Work and Daycare

Here is one picture from Christy and Adam's Wedding. I will post more about that soon but right now I am too tired. This week after a long weekend of celebrating I went back to work after over 3 months off. Let me tell you that it was not a very welcome change. I love my job but I loved being home with Kaylynn and spending time with Max. After two days I can say I am tired and it will take a few more days to adjust. Unfortunately Max was not home on Sunday or Monday to help me with the transition but the kids did well and I am just a little tired :)

Kaylynn is doing great at daycare -- they say that she is a really happy baby which is great to hear. The daycare lady Amanda is very nice and she sends me pictures throughout the day of Kaylynn so we can still see her and know she is doing well. Which has helped with the transition. Max will be staying home with her two days a week and she will be going to daycare three days. 

After just two days at work I am running to meeting after meeting almost like I never left :)

Three Months!!

Well the last few days have been a little crazy getting ready for Christy's wedding so I missed posting yesterday but I was able to get her picture taken. Kaylynn has been doing well and is sleeping, eating and growing well.
