英語の前置詞を基本だけやる 【 to と from / with と without / for / about / of / in と on と at / under / near と by 】

さあ！
このページはみんなきらいな前置詞を、
慣れるまでやりまくります！
inとかonとかtoとかwithとかのあの短いやつだ。

先に言っておくと、
前置詞は「後ろに名詞を置く単語」です。
前に置くんじゃない。後ろに名詞、です！！！

みたいにね。

【 to / from 】

じゃあ最初は簡単な「to」と「from」からやってみようか！
to（トゥー）は「目的地」を言う感じです。

　I go to school.
　学校へ行きます（go toよりto schoolを意識）
　I am walking to your house.
　君の家へ歩いてるよ
　I will give a present to him.
　彼にプレゼントをあげるんだ
　Happy birthday to you.
　あなたにハッピーバースデー

from（フロム）は「から」！

　I have a letter from my friend.
　友達からの手紙を持ってます
　He came from Canada.
　彼はカナダから来ました
　She is from Canada.
　彼女はカナダ出身です（カナダから来たんだよってこと）

「to」と「from」はよく同時に使われます。

　We traveled from Tokyo to Osaka.
　私たちは東京から大阪に旅行しました
　I walked from my house to the station.
　私は家から駅まで歩きました
　I worked from nine to five.
　9時から5時まで働きました

って感じ！

【 with / without 】

with（ウィズ）は「一緒に」。

　I will study with you.
　あなたと一緒に勉強します
　I played soccer with my friends.
　友達と一緒にサッカーをしました
　I go to school with her.
　私は彼女と一緒に学校に行きます

んで、
みんな「without（ウィズアウト）」は苦手でしょ。
withoutはwithの逆。
「一緒に」の逆。

withoutは「なしで」です。

　I will study without you.
　あなたなしで勉強します
　I played soccer without my friends.
　友達なしでサッカーをしました
　I can’t live without my smartphone.
　スマホなしでは生きられない

ね！

ちなみにwithには「道具のwith」もあります。

　He cut the apple with a knife.
　彼はナイフでリンゴを切りました
　She opened the box with a key.
　彼女はカギ（key）でその箱を開けました

【 for 】

 for（フォー）は「ために」です。

　This is a present for you.
　これはあなたのためのプレゼントです
　This is a book for students.
　これは学生のための本です
　I studied hard for the test.
　そのテストのために一生懸命勉強した

【 about 】

about（アバウト）もよく出てくるよ！
「ーについて」です。

　This is a book about animals.
　これは動物についての本です
　We watched the movie about love.
　私たちは愛についての映画を見ました
　Please tell me about your trip.
　あなたの旅行（trip）について私に教えて（tell me 教えて）

んで、aboutにはちょっと違う用法があります。
数字の前について「だいたい」っていう意味です（これは前置詞じゃない）

　I have about ten books.
　私はだいたい10冊本を持ってます
　There are about 100 people.
　だいたい100人います（100はone hundred ワンハンドレッド）
　I worked from about nine to five.
　だいたい9時から5時まで働きました
（aboutは前置詞じゃないから、前置詞fromの後に来れる）

日本語の会話でも「アバウトだなあ」みたいな言い方するの知ってるかな。

みたいなね。
このアバウトはこのabout！
「おおまかだなあ」「だいたいだなあ」って感じね！

【 of 】

of（オブ）はとにかく「の」だと思ってください。

　She is a member of the team.
　彼女はチームのメンバーです

　I know the name of the book.
　私はその本の名前を知っています

　The color of the car is red.
　その車の色は赤です

　This is the end of the story.
　これがその物語の最後です

theは「その」って訳すことも多いからね
（詳しくはtheのページ）

【 in / on / at 】

in（イン）、on（オン）、at（アット）は場所の前置詞です。
まず「in」は「中に」って感じ！

　I live in Japan.
　私は日本（の中）に住んでいます
　She put the book in the bag.
　彼女はカバンの中に本を置いてる（入れてる）put 置く
　She is in the room.
　彼女は部屋の中にいます（beで「ある・いる」）
　

次の「on」は接触（くっついてる）のイメージです。
テーブルにonなら「上に」だし、壁にonなら「壁に」だ。

　The book is on the table.
　その本はテーブルの上にあります（beで「ある・いる」）
　The picture is on the wall.
　その絵（写真）は壁にあります
　She put her smartphone on the bed.
　彼女はベッドにスマホを置いた（put プット：置く）
　He wrote his name on the paper.
　彼は紙に自分の名前を書いた
　You will find the store on the right.
　あなたは右側にその店を見つけられるよ（right ライト：右）

3つめの「at」は指をさすイメージ。
地図で場所を指したり、時計の針だったり、見て！って指さしたりね。

　Look at that!
　あれを見て！（look at 見る）
　I saw him at the station.
　駅で彼を見た
　The bus will stop at the next station.
　バスは次の駅で止まります
　He is at the corner of the street.
　彼は道の角にいます（ofは「の」だったね）
　The clock is at 12.
　時計は12時を指してます（12時です）

ということで、中のin、接触のon、指をさすatでした！

【 under 】

under（アンダー）は「下」！

　I found my book under the chair.
　イスの下に本を見つけました

　We sat under the tree.
　私たちは木の下に座った

　There are some cats under the desk.
　机の下に数匹の猫ががいます（There isの文とsomeのページ見てね）

【 near / by 】

near（ニアー）もby（バイ）も「近く」です！

　The store is near my house.
　その店は私の家の近くです
　We live near the school.
　私たちは学校の近くに住んでます

　She stood by the door.
　彼女はドアの近くに立った
　We walked by the river.
　私たちは川の近くを歩いた

さらに、byで「移動手段」を表すことができます。

　We will go there by train.
　電車でそこに行くよ
　I came here by bus.
　バスでここに来た

それから、
byには受動態で使った「よって」もあったよね。

　This book was written by her.
　この本は彼女によって書かれました
　The movie was watched by many people.
　その映画はたくさんの人たちに見られました

受動態、大事だからね！

改めて、意外と大事なのは、
前置詞は「後ろの名詞とくっつく」ってことです。

「I will study with you」こうじゃないからね。
