Peter Breinholt-Sundance!

PETER BREINHOLT!
September 7, 2012
Brooke, Kristin, Me
It had been forever since I had seen one of his concerts. My sisters introduced me back in the day when Kristin was a avid concert goer and Brooke worked with Pete. It brought back so many memories (sigh)... I have always enjoyed his music and one of my favorite concerts is SUNDANCE! So this was a fun treat! It started out as a great excuse for a girls night, then it became a whomever can make it, then a sweet date night (kinda)- Steve wanted to come and I was all for having my hubby come, any chance to enjoy great company, awesome setting and great music. Yes PLEASE! So me, Steve, Brooke, Kristin, Briant and Camille jumped in my sweet Ramsey's of a van and headed to Sundance. Traffic was horrible but we eventually made it. We found a grassy spot then somehow found our way to a front row seat. Don't know how that happened considering it was a packed house and a sold out show. We had a blast! I think Steve enjoyed watching me and Kristin pretend we were young again and scream and dance like juveniles. HILARIOUS! Thanks Kris for the fun idea, to Steve for taking me on a hot date, and thanks Brooke, Bud and Camille for coming and making it awesome! Can't forget Papa and Sunny for watching my kids WAY past their bedtime.
(yes, papa & sunny's bedtime) You're the best!
(Of course I didn't get any other pics :( so I took this one from Kris-Thanks)

My cute Kiddos!

Here are a few pictures I found on my camera...
My little Paigeee and shoes...she loves them!
We apparently hadn't collected the fruits of our labors for quite some time...
 Noah and zucchini # 1...
 Reed and zucchini # 2...
 Jamison and zucchini #3...
They actually collected 6 of these babies. After shredding, chopping, slicing and freezing 4 of these bad boys, I ended up feeding the chickens a zucchini sufle'- I figured I had plenty of zucchini bread fixing's to last me a while.
Jamison's "outfit of choice" for his last day of Pre school. Gotta love this kid!
Jamison and his teacher Miss Kendra (Yoho)
Noah and Reed helping with dinner!
Reed was all "chocked" up about cutting those onions!
Noah has quite the "green" thumb!
He was ready to be done cutting those peppers though.

Van Clan Reunion.. .

August 25, 2012
1st row bottom: Christian, Cam, Noah, Reed
2nd: Brooke, Chapin, Ali, Jamison
3rd: Kristin, Camille, Briant, Sunny, Brittany, Papa, Paige, Steve
(missing: Scott, Gaby, Marlen, Sebi, Heather, Jon, Kate, Dan, Madison)
Surprise surprise, we got to go to another reunion. This time it was on my side. The Browns and VanWagenen's are not huge reunion people. I think we would like to be, but we know it isn't realistic and a ton of work. So 1 a year or every other year, or every decade is just going to have to do.
My mother's side of the family (VanWagenen) got together for a day's worth of activities. We met up at Draper park and enjoyed a beautiful day, great decorations, yummy food and of course fun activities. We were color coordinated to the best of our abilities and wardrobes. My siblings wore yellow, Sunny's favorite!  We had pictures, played a genealogy matching game, corn hole toss, ice cream you scream Kristin shoved the ice cream...right in my face game. My hands behind my back, she was blindfolded and of course she took full advantage of "creaming" me. Great laughs for sure! They had a candy canon, and of course food food food. A staple of a successful get together! It was fun to see the relatives and enjoy a great day at the park. A highlight at this reunion...I'd have to say the "creaming" and the twirly tube thing I went in. I wanted to vomit after riding. Think of it as getting into a tire and rolling down a hill, but this is stationary and wasn't very pretty! We enjoyed the VAN CLAN!!!

Bear Lake-Mecham Reunion! September 2012

August 31-September 2, 2012
All I know is that September has arrived....August went somewhere, and eventually I will look on my camera to see what I haven't put on my blog. Goodness, where has the summer gone? Yes, it is gone, though the weather is still bright and HOT! As for September...
We started the month off with, yet, another reunion. These Helms are fabulous reunion folk. Labor Day weekend is ALWAYS marked on the calendar for the Mecham reunion. For over 30 years this weekend get-away has taken place at Bear Lake (minus the couple years due to renovations) at the Scout camp. It is a weekend filled with FOOD, games, estimation jars 4 the kiddos, Talent night, candy canon, more FOOD, crafts, playing at the beach, and we had a engineer challenge this year where we were given a bag of mini marshmallows, toothpicks, gumdrops, straws, a cup and we had to build something great. Noah, Steve and I came up with an awesome bi plane. The kids loved creating. Oh and how could I forget...The infamous game of pinnacle. It is a game I...I do not look forward to. The "older" generation always wins, and Steve is too competitive to give up and I am too impatient and lazy to play the game. So, I might not get it:) Blah blah blah. You'd think after 10 years I would be okay with the game. NOT MY FAVORITE, but it's tradition!
A memory at this reunion...Sunday night about 9:00pm, I went down to our room to go put Paige to sleep. Come to find out, our room was locked. The day before the room next to us had the same problem. When you have lots of little unsupervised hands, you're bound to have some mishaps. So I marched up stairs to inform my handy man. Apparently the scout camp doesn't believe in leaving keys on the premises. Many plastic cards were put to the test, a rope an extension cord and planks of wood were somehow involved. All in all it came down to Steve eventually driving 30 minutes one way to meet a guy for the key. 11:40pm finally rolled around and we finally rolled into our beds. If anything, I hope the kids remember the fun they had running up and down the LONG hallway WAY past their bedtime and trying to figure out their own plans to get the door down. Those would include: Drive a 4-wheeler through the door, an axe, build a doggy door, bust off the handle, find a lock picker, call the firemen. They are so brilliant!
The reunion was a success!

Paige & Erythema Multiforme Minor...

August 10, 2012
Another reunion attempt...I say attempt because we almost made it. This was our Jones reunion with Steve's mom's side of the family. We have it at a great camp ground near Preston, Idaho.
Earlier in the week Paige had a minor fever, by Wednesday she had a small rash on her tummy but no fever. I was a bit worried that maybe it was hand foot mouth, but it wasn't progressing to anything further. So by Friday we headed out for the reunion. By the time we made it to Logan, Utah I looked back at Paige and noticed a very prominent rash all over her arm and cheek. OH MY GOODNESS! It was freakish.
It was pouring rain outside, we couldn't get a hold of any of his family, Steve & the kids were in no mood to turn around and go home and it was almost 9:00pm. There was no way I was taking this ":Rash" to a reunion. So as we headed up the dark canyon to find a vacant campsite Noah asked why all the cars were headed the opposite direction? My reply, "Well, they've packed up their tents and are headed home." Rain and camping aren't friends. So there we were, my cute husband in a garbage sack, putting up the tent, in the rain, by the light of our headlights. Paige was exhausted and went to bed while the boys and Steve attempted a campfire. Apparently wet air and fire aren't friends. (we know) I think Steve inhaled more smoke that night trying to get it started than he ever has in his fire building career. The boys hung out trying to roast marshmallows and we eventually made it to bed. I awoke to a a sleeping Paige and a vacant tent. Steve must have taken the boys fishing. Paige woke up and was extremely itchy and upset. The only moment of happiness was when she ate 2 bites of her donut, which is unusual for Paige, a donut could keep her happy for some time. So I sat holding her and praying that Steve would feel a need to return soon. After what seemed FOREVER, they returned and we packed up as fast as we could. As we headed home we researched what we thought may be the culprit of the rash. After talking to his mom, she thought maybe it was the 3 day measles, FREAKED OUT! yes, I was worried. Or was it Hand Foot Mouth? Neither of which you can really do anything about, but they are contagious. Once we got home, Steve took her to the Pediatrician. THE VERDICT WAS IN...dun dun dun-It turned out to be a non contagious skin virus called Erythema Multiforme Minor. The boys first reaction was, "So, can we go back?" Poor kids, they so wanted to go to the reunion. Though we are still unsure of the cause, we are thankful Paige recovered by Monday.
