HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It was a fun filled "wild" weekend. On Friday the 25th My siblings, and our spouses left the kiddos at home (thanks Amber & Tyrel) and surprised my dad with a little outing to dinner. We went to La Puente for a little Mexican food. Good, I'd say considering I cleaned my plate. Afterwards we went to my sister Kristin's for dessert with the kids. Cobbler, pie, brownies and root beer floats were a few of his favorite things.

Saturday February 26th- Monumental Celebrations!!!

Papa (my dad) turned 65 yrs young & Kate (my niece) turned 8 yrs old!

My dad reserved the gym at his church for Heather and Jon (Kate's parents) . They invited "Scales & Tails"(I think?) to come and do a whole show for us. Good thing we had enough room because Kate invited her whole 2nd grade class. What a cutie! At one point I know there were at least 26 kids plus plenty of adults. They played games, petted reptiles and pounded down the cupcakes. Austin the "showtainer" did a great job making the kids laugh and educating them on good pets.

The "Kicker"

Steve & "Hefty Protection"

We decided to venture to Pelican Point (South of Saratoga Springs ) to do a little target shooting. A beautiful Saturday deserves good company and reason to be out in the sun. Our friends, the Mansfield's have quite the option when it comes to fire arms, and Steve likes to pull out his hefty "reason for protection." We picked up some pizza, loaded the boys and little Paige and followed the Mansfield's to the hills. We were not the only ones who thought that a little "kick" in the shoulder was a grand idea. The hill was filled with numerous amounts of people and a plethora of weaponry. Not sure how safe it was out there but we all managed to come unscathed. A group of guys were getting ready to head out when they asked if we would enjoy shootin' up their TV that they forgot to pulverise. We thought it sounded fun and agreed to take a shot at it. WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER! Just as we thought we were going to be on our way home, the nice fish and game/wilderness ranger people showed up. The "pack of wolves" surrounded the area as if this were the best day of their lives. Salivating at the thought of unprotected sheep roaming the hills. Of course the innocent looking ones (us) were their first target, an appetizer you might say. The male wolf approached and began to interrogate poor Tyrel (friend) and asking him if the TV was his, and why would he think to shoot at such a thing??? Hello!!! We were shooting at anything, and a TV looked to be a more exciting target. Can you blame us? We were honest in telling them that we did NOT bring the television, but yes we did shoot at it. Well folks, for all of you out there that don't know, If you bring anything to shoot at, make sure you are ready to pack it home with ya, AND if you shoot at something that you may NOT have brought, be prepared to be accountable for it and get a possible fine for it. After 30 minutes of torture and a small amount of blood was drawn, we were released. They handed us a pretty little pamphlet and we learned a valuable lesson...Never do another mans dirty job. Just kidding. Steve and I did read the whole pamphlet on our way home. Quick read! We laughed about our experience (two innocent families and the only two mini vans up there and the only ones who were issued a warning. Of course!)This was one for the memory books!

Paige Erin Helm was given a name and blessing today!

(I am a bit shocked I didn't take any other individuals of this princess)

You know when you have something important going on and time is a factor, things are always a bit hectic. Well, this Sunday was pretty smooth considering the events. We got to church on time and surprisingly there were some benches still open. Perfect for my family.

It is always nice to have family close and so willing to show their love and support.

My sweet dad (bishop) was rushing from his singles ward to make it on time and just barely missed it. As he came in and sat down, he looked over at me with a sad & sorry expression and it was everything I could do not to cry. I know he tried and I totally understood, but it was a little sad not to have my dad a part of the blessing.

Paige wore her crocheted dress made by her Great Grandma Hattie Jones. (I have been storing this baby since Noah was born) She had a sweet white bow and some little white crocheted booties. What a sweet little thing!

With each blessing I have had great intentions of writing the blessing down, but for one reason or another it doesn't happen. This one was no different. Jamison was needy at the moment and it took a bit to stay focused while trying to please him by drawing a snake. What do ya do?
Steve did such a nice job and the blessing was beautiful. I especially loved the part where he spoke of how much her mother loves her and the relationship they would have.

I am so thankful and blessed that my husband sees the importance of his calling as a father and husband and appreciates the priesthood with which he holds. He is so loving and is truly committed to his family, his church and his Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ.

FRIDAY February 4, 2011 Once again IT HAS HAPPENED. . .

My first born has celebrated another year of joyful life.

tear, teAR , SOB, SOB, BAWLLLL, SNiffle, sniffle, wipe.

HOW OLD YOU ASK?

A WHOPPING 6 years old!

Now, the crying part isn't that I am sad to celebrate this joyous occasion, but a bit of a slip of the emotions knowing that this little man is getting older.

On Friday February 4th, our handsome, sweet Noah turned 6 years old.

I got up and decorated the kitchen "birthday style." Luckily when Noah woke, he gave me the thumbs up, a crooked smile and a "nice mom." I had succeeded in the decor.

Noah chose Hootin'nanny pancakes for breakfast (German pancakes)

Then I spent most of my day a bit "heated" trying to clean and (keep clean) the house. Steve's mom and dad were coming into town. The plan was to go to dinner after Steve was done with work and then hit the Kangaroo Zoo (bounce toys). Once Steve's mom, dad and Grandma Helm made it, we headed to Thanksgiving point for some yum. By the time we were done eating we would have had only one hour to play at Kangaroo Zoo.

Steve and I contemplated which would be worst:

Not going? or cough$$$ and only letting them play a small amount of time???

Sooo we apparently opted for the massive crying episodes, the slamming of doors and the creative yelling. Hmmm, not sure if I would do that again, but things settled down once Noah was able to go pick out ice cream and a movie and get some batteries for his new game.

I felt horrible thinking that ALL he wanted to do for his big day was go to Kangaroo Zoo

and I CRUSHED it! sigh

SATURDAY February 5, 2011

We made it to the Kangaroo Zoo!!!

It truly was a zoo with all the kids that were there, but the kids enjoyed it and we got our money's worth, and of course who knows what else we got...germs? check!

We went to Costco to get a cake and while we were at it, we cashed in our pennies to get a hot dog lunch. The rest of the evening was spent with the boys at home with the men; and Pamela, Paige and I went on a hunt for a slip to go under Paige's blessing dress and a little white bow. Success!

Helm Family & The New Year in Eden! 2011

It was our year with the Helm family for Christmas. Though we didn't get together FOR Christmas, Steve's entire family got together in Eden Utah and enjoyed ringing in the New Year. Steve's 3 brothers: Darren, Dustin, Nathan & 2 sisters: Amie & Camille (minus 1 -missed you April) His parents and his Grandma Hattie and of course a PLETHORA of grand kids. We spent Wednesday Dec. 29, 2010-Sun Jan 2, 2011 playing with the fam. I did have a new baby and,
well crowded areas make me cringe, but what do ya do? Well I spent most of my time feeding, changing, sitting and chit chatting, playing games and eating tasty amounts of deliciousness. The boys spent their days playing in the massive loads of snow, playing the Wii, watching movies, games, making up talents & running wildly with cousins. As a tradition we held the Talent show and lip sink which was quite entertaining, and I barely made it to the new year. Sadly I just wanted to go to bed, but I made it. I think the big highlight was skiing. Steve took Noah & Reed skiing for the first time. It was bitterly cold and questionable as too how long they would make it. They prevailed and loved every minute!!! I was a little bummed I missed their first skiing experience but I know it won't be their last!

Thank you Helm Family for an awesome end to the year 2010 and a fabulous start to 2011!!!
