I was tagged to do the picture tag by a few of you (and I've forgotten who all had tagged me :(..sorry) and today I'm finally getting down to it when Mimi also tagged me on this one :)

So I had to pick and post the 4th pic from my 4th folder in the pictures directory. When I went to the said folder I saw it had ONLY 4 pictures :D

This is Anirudh's baby foot. I had clicked this on June 26, 2004. And if I look at the date, it has an interesting twist to it. He was 3 days less than 3 months on this date. Interesting..isn't it? :D

That I've become quite lazy. Haven't been doing any exercises and need to wake up early.

My kind of day

Life Begins tagged me on "My Kind of Day" where I could imagine and share with others what kind of day I would love to have. I know I am pretty late in doing this tag and decided to do it before she loses any hopes of me ever doing the tag :D

So coming back to the tag does it mean what kind of day I would make if I was to be in Weather God's shoes? Wow! Wouldn't it be so nice? Swaying my wand , sprinkling some magic dust and lo and behold I create a brand new day for the people on earth!

Hmm..now let me think about it. I like rain and I like nice cloudy sky with cool winds blowing. And I like the evening sun. So how about creating a day with all these 3 elements put together. WOW! WOW! Just imagining it makes me go WOW!

So let there be little rain in the morning for 2-3 hours. So when we look out of the house the whole world seems crisp and fresh and the plants in their greenest greens and dew drops at the edge of the leaves and on the flower petals.

After the rains lets have a nice cloudy sky with cool breeze blowing. So that when you walk you can feel the cool wind in your hair and you can see the plants and trees swaying with happiness.

And by evening lets have the sun start shining playing hide and seek between the clouds. The kids would be playing in the parks or cycling around.

But but but. The most important thing is I would like to have this kind of a day on a holiday and NOT on a working day at all. Coz if this kind of day happens on a working day I wouldn't be able to enjoy it even one bit! :)

So how do you guys like my kind of day?

Change

Whenever I read the word change, I am reminded of a funny toon strip. It was from the Archie's comics. I will try to put the wordings from the toon here from whatever I can remember. But the meaning will be the same as the original strip.

:D I know its not THAT funny but somehow it has lingered on in my memory since I read it.

Anyways, coming to the "change" I started to write about was because of the tag that was passed on by Alapana wherein I had to list the changes that happened in me or the way I do certain things or look at other things ever since the significant other, hubby, came into my life.

Interesting. Very interesting. Because I never thought of it at all. I've cribbed many a times on the thigns I hate about hubby or that make me mad but I never thought about the good things that have happened because of him. So this tag has given me a reason to look back and appreciate dear hubby :)

I've become a little confident of my cooking skills because of the appreciations he showers on me :)

I've become totally laid back when it comes to buying veggies and fruits. He does it all the time so I'm totally free from that duty.

I've learnt to be not so hyper about things.

I've become a happier person generally.

So these are a few of the good things that have happened to me since hubby came into my life.

What are you reading? - A book tag!

Emaan's Mom tagged me on this book tag where I need to pick up a book that I'm reading, go to page 123, find the 5th sentence and write the next 3 sentences here.

I'v recently started reading "The Twentieth Wide" by Indu Sundaresan. Although I haven't reached this far in the book as such. Here is the excerpt:

"As the eldest of his seventeen sons and his heir apparent, Amar Singh, came through the doorway to pay his last respects to his father, his turban caught on one of the slats of the roof and was wrenched off his head. DotThoughts tagged me on this where I have to continue the story that has been building up in not more than 55 words. I was amused and quite excited because I have not done something so creative so far! So let me see how I fare!

What happened so far.

"She wondered if she could ever count each of the twinkling stars in the night sky. The clock in the tower struck 9. She had to get back to reading her text book, ignoring the weird grumbling noises her stomach was making. The flickering orange street light looked like it would go put any minute." [galadriel]

she considered her options. she cud complete reading before the light died on her. or she cud eat. or of course, she could attempt to count the stars. it was in the midst of this contemplation that her phone buzzed. books aside, hunger aside... she now focussed on the screen. should she answer... she wondered. She decided to let it ring.. must be her mother calling to find out if she was alright. She was really tired of her mom checking on her four times every day! And then she heard it, a blood curdling scream filled the air. There were sounds of running feet ,followed by another shrill scream! [preethi]

She stood up to see where the sound had come from. It was a bratty toddler throwing a tantrum. The phone was still ringing shrilly. She picked it up. It was not her mother. “Hello”, said a voice from the other end. “Did you get my e-mail?” “Yes” she laughed. “I just finished reading it.” [DotThoughts]

"So?" her sister asked. "So what?" She replied giggling to herself. Her sister replied back annoyingly "You know what I'm talking about! Tag: 10 Things I miss and wanna do!

I smiled to myself when I saw that I'm quite near to celebrating the silver jubilee for the tags, after I was tagged by --xh-- on the 10 things I miss and 10 things I wanna do.

Although I just about managed to list 9 things for each and even after thinking hard and long I couldn't come up with the 10th item for both the categories. So I'm leaving them as is:

5 things that I do

I was passed on a tag by Shakti where she wants me to write down the first 5 thing that I do after I reach home. Be it from office, shopping, outing...just anything. I guess I do different things depending on from where I'm coming back from. For e.g the first thing I do after I come home after attending parties or weddings is to take off my heels! :D So I guess let me talk about my daily routine of 5 days in a week which I do after I come back from work.

• Dump all the bags, my office bag, betu's school bag, his daycare bag and the bag of milk which we buy on our way home every evening on to the table in the living room. I prefer to take out everything in one go so that I don't have to make another round to the car irrespective of the fact that I park my car right in front of our house and we are on ground floor :D
  
  
• I take out my lunch box from my office bag and put it in the kitchen sink to be washed.
  
  
• Then I come and sit with Betu and cuddle him while we are sitting on the couch.
  
  
• Then we both go and look for something to nibble on in the kitchen.
  
  
• Then we both take off our shoes and just chillax!

When I got this tag I thought..wow..a piece of cake it will be to do this one! But only while doing the tag I realised that all these things have become such a regular routine that I do it all unconsciously. I had to really think hard of the things that I do when I come back home.

3. When I sulk on being scolded..with the head lowered down, and I walk away from whoever scolded me in verrrrrrryyyyy slow gait.
   
4. The moment Mumma is done combing my hair, I rough them up using my hands!
5. The non stop chatter on the dinner table.
6. The way I preach people elder to me with such an intense expression on my face!
   
7. When I screech at the top of my voice...for no rhyme or reason.
8. When I wake up I ONLY want my Mumma!!

The quirky me?? - Part II

I've been tagged again to do the quirky me tag by Ditty. I thought 7 that I mentioned earlier were enough to embarrass myself in front of the whole world but it seems I'm not going to be let off till I' bare out myself completely!! The only consoling part I can look in this tag part II is that I've to mention only 6 and not 7 like the earlier one.

Okie then..here you go

First, the rules:

Now the quirks:

1. I always carry a toothpick, anywhere and everywhere, with me to clean my nails. I don't keep them long and paint them rarely and I hate it when they get dirty.
2. I check my blackberry every 10 mins to see if there's anything - a new mail, a message or a chat alert and I sleep with it under my pillow.
   
3. I own about 15 pair of shoes and if I don't stop myself I will go ahead and buy at least that many more :)
4. I always have to sleep on the left side of the bed when we are at our house. It doesn't matter if we are traveling.
5. I can eat a chocolate at any time of the day.
6. I don't know why but I tend to always put the left shoe on for Betu whenever I am dressing him up.

So there goes my quirks. And now to tag others, here I go

I send across these wishes to all the lovely children and people that I have made friends with on (or will it be in?) this blog world. But since I usually like to follow rules when I am doing tags, I will have to choose people to pass on this tag to. So Here I go.. Few of my precious things!

I was tagged by JLT to write about few of my precious things(material). So here are the 3 precious things that come to my mind instantly:

One is this pendant that belonged to my Ma. This pendant was given to her by her Ma i.e. My Naniji whom we all called as Mummiji when my Ma was about 13 or so. So if I try to calculate its age its just a little less than 50 years old. Its made from silver with black meena work and intricate etchings. It has the Indonesian folk dancer made on it.

Second is the coin that my Maiyyo (Paternal Great Grandmother) gave me when I helped her tie her Saree. I've had this coin for more than 20 years now. I guess you will need to read my post on her to read the whole background of the coin unless you have already read it before.

Last but not the least is this 'chowki' (low table) which belonged to us when we were kids and now is being used by Anirudh. If my guess is correct these were custom made using the design given by Appa (my father whom I fondly refer as Appa) in 70s. So this chowki is in its mid 30s :) The edges have started to wither and the ply has cracked at quite a few places but its still very much usable.

I've so many more things that I can write about but even after writing dozens of posts I will still be left with at least a dozen more to write! :D

As I was writing this post I realised that most of the precious things are on an average date back to 30 years or so. And I felt 'Wow!' about them.

I feel a bit funny linking my posts on chocolates as my love when everyone whose post I've read on this tag have talked about either their hubby or their kids :D But I can't help it if my first love is chocolate.. :P
