Texas Program

A few tid bits from Cristine's 2nd grade program...  It was awefully cute to see all the kids in their little bandanas singing about how much they love Texas. Cristine is on the front row on the right side inbvetween two kids wearing blue.

Here she is in the front (right by the teachers' left shoulder) playing the xylephone. Her teacher is the one singing.. pretty good!

I don't even kow if there is a Utah state song...Cristine will be happy to sing it for you along with reciting the pledge to the Texas flag they do every morning in school. 

Meet George and Sarah

I was picking up The girls from school yesterday when Brooklyn's teacher came outside with a cup of dirt.   She said they had been learning about living vs. non living things, and they were comparing real worms vs. gummy worms.  Well, Brooklyn can't eat the gummy worms the rest of the kids got so her sweet teacher sent her home two "pets" instead.. Brooklyn named them George and Sarah.

 Tanner got to hold the cup in the bike trailer while we biked home and I kept hearing him squeal behind me... I had no idea what he was doing to the poor worms, but he was very excited to be holding them. 

 Brooklyn told us all how the worms eat the dirt and then poop it out so it will be good for gardens.  So we went out in the yard and planted my tomoatoes and peppers, then brooklyn made two nice little holes and inserted her pets into their new home. 

 Good Luck George and Sarah! We hope you multiply and replenish our earth so we can grow something this year!!!! And I'm glad Tanner didn't eat you or squoosh you on the way home from school :)

A "How to" story...

Have I mentioned lately how creative my kids are? Cristine had a homework assignment this week to write a "How to" story.  She needed to include the words: First, Next, Then, and finally. 

She sat at the table giggling with her arm wrapped around her centerpiece... my grandpa would say she looked like a skunk eating onions.  Soon she was ready to reveal her secret project... here is what she wrote: (with her cute spelling too)

How to make your Mom yell at you

It is hard to make your Mom yell at you. First, you throw chairs in the air.  Then, you throw rocks at the walls, Next, you jump up and screm. Finily, you pull on the doors.

When she was in kindergarten she made an alphabet book. The Letter M said Mom and she had drawn a cute picture of me. Then I turned the page to the letter N. It said My Mom says NO! And it showed a picture of me with a mouth full of sharp teeth. 

Isn't she soo sweet !:) 

It's us!

Not much going on here... because we have been stuck in our house for about two weeks now.  Brooklyn had the influenz flu...Then Cristine had the Flu...Then Tanner got the Flu... Then Mommy got the Flu...Then Mommy got pneumonia...now Daddy has a sore throat and fever. 

I would like to vote for a new law that states that the mom of the household can not be sick at the same time as any of her family members.  If by chance she does get sick, then her spouse will be excused from work until she is better, if he gets sick too... then help shall be provided by way of a grandparent ... and getting them here should be free.  Who's with me?

All in All.. we are doing pretty good :) The kids are back at school, and my nasty tasting strong antibiotic is working and I can breath without pain anymore!! So I guess that means I should finally clean my house today!! I think some strange creatures may have come and taken over the kids bathroom during my cleaning absence...or my kids really can be that dirty.
Here are some cute Brooklyn tid bits:
 Last night we were talking about  the burning bush that Lehi saw.  Tyson asked the kids..."Why do you think the Lord doesn't talk to people that way now....and uses the still small voice instead?."  Brooklyn said "because it isn't sunday!"
Then we talked about Jesus' 12 apostles and Ty was naming them and Brooklyn yelled out "AND Abraham Lincoln!"
This Morning Brooklyn got up soo excited to go to school because there was going to be a surprise... I asked her about it and she told me how a little mouse has been getting into the kids'snacks at school. Mr Jose (the janitor) put out some really sticky cheese crackers on some really sticky paper that the mouse can't get away from and then he will let the mouse "go" outside. and she is so so so excited to see it!
I think to myself "Yuck!" but I tell Brooklyn "Wow how interesting!"  then think to myself... Can a mouse carry the Flu?.. if so Mr. Jose better not be so kind to the little vermin.

The "Artic Threat"

Warning:

There is a threat hanging over Houston of such magnitude that the masses are preparing for the worst.  The grocery stores are packed with customers filling their carts with much needed suppplies to complete a years' supply of Food Storage.  Employees were sent home to enjoy what time they have left with their families. Schools for hundreds of miles of closed in anticipation of the dreaded event, and yes even the mayor of Houston has declared a State of Emergency and has shut down the city.  What is happening... what is this threat of such magnitude to shut down the entire south Texas territory? ... The weather man has predicted 1-3 inches of SNOW!  ... I wonder how long it will take them to figure out that snow melts...especially on roads. :) I may be a wimp not liking our cold weather anymore than the averageTexan..  But, really?

There hasn't been a single snowflake or drop of rain yet- I think there will be some very dissapointed kids, mommies and daddies if we wake up tomorrow without the fluffy white stuff coating the trampoline.  So the weather man better be correct this time, or this Mother bear may have to unleash her claws. 

These little guys gathered in Hill Country Texas to Protest all the Global Warming.. it obviously has snowed there already :) 

100th day of school

Today is the 100th day of school.  Kindergarten students got to celebrate this fun milestone by dressing up s if they were 100 years old.  Brooklyn decided she needed a dress, a bun in her hair, and a "shawl".  I even used some eye liner to give her wrinkles- but they just made her eyes itchy so her teacher helped her wipe it off.  She doesn't look 100 - no matter how hard I try I can't make her sweet chubby cheeks look weathered with time, but she is awfully darn cute! Some parents got really creactive with hats, canes and beards. I will steal their ideas for Tanner next year.

After they donned their outfits they got to parade, or shuffle, around the school in a parade!  I doubt that 100 year old people would be so happy to shuffle around the school twice but these kindergartners loved it!

Eunice Sandborn passed away this last week at the age of 115. that's right 115! When she 111, in 2007 she was asked what her secret to a long life she said:

"My secret is my Savior" . "A lot of people don't know Him, but I do. I love Him. He's going to keep on being my secret."

"I don't know how long I'll be here, but I've enjoyed it. I'm thankful," Sanborn said. "Life is a wonderful thing if you make it that way. If you don't make it right, it isn't wonderful. If you do things right and love the Lord, you'll be all right."

 This is Tanner Waiting for the parade to start.  He was putting bubbles  in each cheek for me to "blow out" aka "smash his face".  He couldn't quite get the hang of putting bubbles in both cheeks though- he will probably figure it our just in time for  during Stake Conference this weekend, during the most quiet moments. He is So fun.  Tyson thinks I am not reverant during church... I just loved seeing my kids smiles and giggles- and I get a whole hour to just sit and cuddle with them! I do listen to the talks...most of them.. most of the time.. but look at this face! doesn't it make you giggle too?
