"No losses are ever losses when we love; what we love is always with us, becoming part of who we are." ~Ann Voskamp

 My words to death

For my whole life I have feared you
Looked for you at every turn
But my thoughts are fiercely changing
As I gaze upon my daughter's urn

You are just fulfilling your purpose
In my heart this I know
But this time you came too early
A stolen opportunity to blossom, to grow

Shamelessly you strode into
My happy, hopeful life
And sliced right through delicate threads
With the blade of your indifferent knife

I cursed your very existence
Damning you to hell
Then dropped to my knees and prayed
That you'd take me as well

But today I stand here defiantly
Holding firm to my place
Your worst you have already done
Everything else I can face

Because now I see your limits
As surely as I know God above
that even though you steal the breath of life
You are puny and powerless against Love

What Makes A Mother?

I thought of you and closed my eyes; and prayed to God today.
I asked, "What makes a Mother?", and I know I heard him say....
A Mother has a baby, this we know is true.
But God can you be a Mother, when your baby's not with you?

"Yes you can!", He replied with confidence in his voice.
"I give many women babies, when they leave is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime; and others for a day-
And some I send to feel your womb, but there's no need to stay."

"I just don't understand this God, I want my baby here.
"He took a breath and cleared his throat; and then I saw a tear.
I wish I could show you, what your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile with other kids and say,
"We go to earth to learn our lessons of Love and Life and Fear,
My Mommy Loved me oh so much, I got to come straight here..

I feel so lucky to have a Mom, who had so much love for me.
I learned my lesson very quickly, My mommy set me free.
'I miss my Mommy, oh so much but I visit her each day...
when she goes to sleep, on her pillow's where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek; and whisper in her ear,
"Mommy, don't be sad today, I'm your baby and I'm here.
"So you see my dear sweet one, your child is okay.
Your baby is here in my home; And this is where she'll stay.
She will wait for you with me, until your lesson is through.
And on the day that you come home; she'll be at the gates for you.

So, now you see what makes a Mother,
it's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love you had so much of;
right from the very start.

Hug Him Once For Me

“If children have the ability to ignore all odds and

percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When

you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope?

We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or

 Fight Like Hell.”

-Lance Armstrong

a friend who visited me in the hospital asked me after i lost wyatt, "how could i have so much hope that he was going to be ok?" i had to ask her, "how could i not?" that was my baby, hope was my only option, that and to Fight Like Hell. which we did for those 13 miraculous days we spent with him. he was a fighter, my little guy, and from watching him it would always restore my hope.

missing him still. wondering if there is anybody in my life that will ever really "get it".

sad to know that it has been two years but happy to know that it brings me two years closer to him.

i miss you my little monkey. i can't wait until you are in my arms again.

two years ago today, i held for the last time, this side of heaven, the biggest miracle in the tiniest package. he had the heart of a lion and took a piece of my heart when he left. life will never be the same. he was mine and i was his and i can't wait until i get to hold him again. he is loved and missed everyday.

i love you my little monkey!!! 2 years closer to you.

Monday, August 20, 2012

It is a normal parental instinct to miss our children when they are away from us.  So it is, that for however long it takes, 10 or 25 or 100 years until I see Wyatt again, I will miss him.

Monday, August 13, 2012

"Before you were born I carried you under my heart. From the moment you arrived in this world until the moment I leave it, I will always carry you in my heart."

miss you sweet boy.

Friday, August 10, 2012

i miss him
i miss him
I miss him
I Miss Him
I MISS HIM

he should be here. this is all wrong. some really long drawn out bad dream. it needs to end. i need him here with me.

i need to call his name and have him answer. i need him to come and snuggle while we read is favorite book.

i need to know what he would look like, act like, who at 2 yrs. old he would be.

i physically hurt for him and am afraid i may never move from this spot without him here.

the tears fall, the head throbs, and m arms still ache for him.

Wyatt, Wyatt, Wyatt, Wyatt, Wyatt,

i am hurting and have no one. no one who understands and no one who really wants to try.
my heart feels empty

how do we do it?

how do any of us do it?

my wyatt should be turning 2 tomorrow, while his big sister turns 16.

we should be celebrating both but we will only be celebrating one, while holding the other close in our hearts.

my soon to be ex talked of visiting wyatt's spot recently and pulling weeds because they haven't been weed eating. with the pull of those heart strings the day before his birthday, i started to cry...........moments later very quietly he said he was "so sorry"...........aren't we all.

good lord i miss him. my heart hurts and my eyes won't stop tearing up.

what a mess i am.

Monday, August 6, 2012

two days until wyatt's birthday. two days until his sister's birthday. how do you celebrate a dead baby's birthday and a live child's birthday on the same day. that's a big black cloud hanging over a happy birthday. sweet 16. bitter sweet.

don't know what to do.......

i will take suggestions.

"Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm."
— Abraham Lincoln

i am afraid i may not succeed. i think i have lost all of my enthusiasm. life is just to good at getting me down. i think it may be winning.

i need a pep talk.
what if my overwhelming fear of failing everybody all over again, stops me from doing what i need to do.
what if i am just to messed up to do the right thing.

"Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them."

hoping to start a new chapter soon. probably why my eye won't stop twitching. need prayers, good thoughts, ect. (b/c i also need money, so i need to get a job and get to work)

hurt

does it ever just hurt your heart to see people doing so much better than you? it does me.
i wish it didn't. i wish i could be happy for those other people. i wish i didn't want what they have.....
but i do.
i just do.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

my heart hurts for him tonight. i miss him so very, very much. i want to hold him one last time. i want to make different decisions and maybe get different results. i want for him to have had the chance to live. why couldn't he have just lived. why did i live and he didn't? how am i suppose to go on without him.

shadow baby

that's how i feel sometimes. that i live in this new normal with the shadows of my babies hanging on, just out of reach but close enough i think that i can catch glimpses of them now and again.

crazy..... huh? hell it makes my heart hurt just to think about it.

these glimpses that i get of these shadow children come at some of the most unsuspecting times and then sometimes i go in search of them just to get a glimpse.

will it ever be right? will i ever feel normal ever again? or is this my new normal.

coming p on 2 years. wow i miss him. i was shopping at target today and realized i haven't had a little one in so long that i don't even know what to buy for a 2 year old. how sad is that.

Thursday, June 28, 2012

got a new book to read on my mini vacay......it's a good book but a horrible book. a book that only a girl like me, with luck like mine could pick.

here's a quote from the book.......

"you lose keys, your wallet, your glasses. you lose a job. you lose weight.
you lose money. you lose your mind.
you lose hope; you lose your faith.you lose your sense of direction.
you lose track of friends.
you lose your head. you lose a tennis match. you lose a bet.
you lose a baby, or so they say.
except i know exactly where he is." ~ jodi picoult ~ sing you home

yep, i can pick 'em. :/

i hate him! i hate him! i hate him!
no......
wait......
i love him!
life sucks!!!
this sucks!!!
things are just so broken.
and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can't put the pieces back together again.
sometimes, it seems, things are just meant to stay broken.

believe

“It might be a good idea if, like the White Queen, we practiced believing six impossible things every morning before breakfast, for we are called on to believe what to many people is impossible. Instead of rejoicing in this glorious "impossible" which gives meaning and dignity to our lives, we try to domesticate God, to make his mighty actions comprehensible to our finite minds.”

“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability... To be alive is to be vulnerable.”

feeling very vulnerable right now. missing my boy so much.

there is a blog out there  of a little boy who was across from wyatt in the hospital. i go and check on is progress from time to time. i check on the progress of this happy little family. it is in those moments that it truly hits me all that i have lost.

searching for hope........

"When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny."
— Paulo Coelho (The Devil and Miss Prym)
...in a time lacking in truth and certainty and filled with anguish and despair, no woman should be shamefaced in attempting to give back to the world, through her work, a portion of its lost heart. ~ Louise Bogan

i am starting a daily devotional thing, this is in the opening. somehow, something about it, spoke to my heart.

i have wanted to give back for some time. i am hopping this will give me the push.

btw i am writing this after taking my @mbien and am still awake so excuse me if this goes off course.

today was my sons 12th birthday.i can not believe he went from this

today was my sons 12th birthday.i can not believe he went from this

to this.........
you can hardly tell it is the same kid.
time goes by way to fast & i am just sitting back enjoying the moments.

don't get me wrong it is not all rainbows and butterflies over here, but we are making do and getting by with the help of some awesome family & friends.
and though as it is our life will never be quite normal, maybe in our own way we can make it something even better........
i really hope so.

so happy birthday to my boy. who fought his tuffest battle before he ever left the hospital. you were so strong then i don't care if you want to sit back and coast for a while.
but i did like your idea about scuba diving and i don't think i am going to let that dream go anytime soon.

happy birthday cam & to wyatt, ethan, mary, & our little stars i love you all to the moon and back ~ mommy

it makes no sense, but i want it .
and i know nobody wants me to want it or think about wanting it.
but it is all i think about, it is all i have ever felt meant to do. i have no other real goals.
what am i suppose to do? where do i go from here.

"There's a reason we refer to "leaps of faith" - because the decision to consent to any notion of divinity is a mighty jump from the rational over to the unknowable, and I don't care how diligently scholars of every religion will try to sit you down with their stacks of books and prove to you through scripture that their faith is indeed rational; it isn't. If faith were rational, it wouldn't be - by definition - faith. Faith is belief in what you cannot see or prove or touch. Faith is walking face-first and full-speed into the dark. If we truly knew all the answers in advance as to the meaning of life and the nature of God and the destiny of our souls, our belief would not be a leap of faith and it would not be a courageous act of humanity; it would just be... a prudent insurance policy."

Don’t be ashamed to weep; ‘tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.

wyatt would have been 21 months today. wishing he was here to take silly pictures with, love and cuddle on, and find any reason to celebrate his day. i can not believe it has been almost two years.

happy day little one. i miss you so.

"It is a normal parental instinct to miss our children when they are away from us. So it is, that for however long it takes, 10 or 25 or 100 years until I see Wyatt again, I will miss him. It may not be as socially acceptable to talk about my child who has died but I miss him all the same."

The road to happiness does not end with a ring on your finger. Glass slippers are tucked within the hearts of strong and amazing women who have romanced themselves with adventures of hope and assurance. I believe that where there is hope, there is love. for the love of quotes.........

i love them. maybe it is because i am not very prolific myself. but i find they speak to my heart. here are a few i found today.

‎"We're all broken at one time or another in our lives. It's what we decide to do with the scattered puzzle pieces that decide the next step, the next story of our lives."

"I'm still young, fairly healthy and I know love will come my way once more.
Then, I'll remember how to dance again.
I'll see all the colors once more. I'll routinely move mountains again.
If hope ends, all else fails."

"Avoid getting trapped in someone else's story. Be the author of your own life."

i am trying to live out my "new normal". it is hard. it keeps changing. (even though i hate change) but it is mine to live. it is time to start living my story.

people just don't understand

"It is useless for me to describe to you how terrible they (Violet, Klaus, and even Sunny) felt in the time that followed. If you have ever lost someone very important to you, then you already know how it feels, and if you haven't, you cannot possibly imagine it."
— Lemony Snicket (The Bad Beginning)

it was 20mths. on sat. since i got to hold my baby in my arms for the first and last time. probably explains why i slept all weekend. i miss him. i always will.

it's ironic. this time two years ago i was married and pregnant. today i have no baby to cuddle & no husband to cry to. how have things gone so wrong?

"Sometimes things have to go wrong in order to go right."
— Sherrilyn Kenyon

i am ready for things to go right. they have been wrong for way to long.
"At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough. and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey."

Prayers Please!!!!

This is my niece.......

this is some of her story......

This is Mary Keith. She is an 11 year old girl from the White House, Tennessee. She was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing's Sarcoma and has begun aggressive chemo treatments at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

this is something our community is doing for her......

To help support Mary and her family, Think Ink in White House has designed and produced a shirt (pictured in this post) with 100% of the proceeds going to the Keith family. The shirts are $10. Amazingly, the first round of shirts have sold out and more will be available this week. You can place an order by calling Think Ink at 615-672-5847. Thank you for your support and God Bless.

i am not always great at putting things into words. but please keep her and my family in your prayers. obviously this came as a huge shock.

this is her motto.........

20 mths.

wyatt should have been 20mths. yesterday. very few people noticed. his father certainly did

not. i did. i noticed it in easter baskets, egg hunts, cute clothes, sunshine, and bubbles. i bet

he would have loved it all. especially the bubbles. today i paid my little monkey a visit and

he is ready to monkey around.

i found this piece here http://drjoanne.blogspot.com/2011/07/little-wounding.html a long time ago. i've been meaning to post it but my world got all swirly. but it really spoke to me about pain and loss and the nurturing we need from others. it is a lovely piece.

"I desperately needed aid as my brain felt increasingly scrambled and I lost the sense of space and time. I kept insisting I didn't need aid despite my helpless predicament.
Some insistent, nurturing intervention from caring others put me horizontal
A cool cloth to my head and all the time I needed to reground myself helped me
Then, and only then, the shattering pain lambasted me.

The pain radiated from every nerve cell The pain was literally paralyzing. I could not move. I could not think about anything but the pain. I don't remember much other than the pain.
Slowly, the pain began to ease. I noticed, though, that it would ease, then increase again. Ease, then increase again. This happened quite a lot, and I was mesmerized by this pattern. Very, very gradually, the moment of "unpain" grew longer. The moments of pain, shorter.
The things that were once so effortless and manageable now present significant challenge.
I'm protective of my injury, aware of its constant presence.
And of course, there will be a lifelong scar to remind me...
while physical wounds are quick to heal, the emotional ones are enduring, visible to us, often invisible to others"

go read the whole story here http://drjoanne.blogspot.com/2011/07/little-wounding.html.

just thought i'd share.

Dancing in the Minefields w/lyrics (on screen)

i am sad today.
and a little weepy.

there is no longer a we.....
there is just a me.

i am dancing in the minefields alone.

 "We're dancing in the minefields
We're sailing in the storm
This is harder than we dreamed
But I believe that's what the promise is for
So when I lose my way, find me
When I lose love's chains, bind me
At the end of all my faith, till the end of all my days
When I forget my name, remind me
'Cause we bear the light of the Son of Man
So there's nothing left to fear
So I'll walk with you in the shadowlands
Till the shadows disappear
'Cause he promised not to leave us
And his promises are true
So in the face of all this chaos, baby,
I can dance with you"
~Dancing in the Minefields by Andrew Peterson

"I must say a word about fear. It is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unnerving ease. It begins in your mind, always ... so you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don't, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you."
— Yann Martel (Life of Pi)

"You know how every now and then, you have a moment where your whole life stretches out ahead of you like a forked road, and even as you choose one gritty path you've got your eyes on the other the whole time, certain that you're making a mistake."
— Jodi Picoult

been having these moments for a couple of months now....
sometime life is hard & pointy, just like those forks in the road.
personally i prefer spoons all rounded with soft edges.
waiting for my spoon in the road.

"There are moments when i wish i could roll back the clock and take all the sadness away, but i have a feeling that if i did, the joy would be gone as well. So i take the memories as they come, accepting them all, letting them guide me whenever i can."

"It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you've known forever don't see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on."

the heart knows

i woke up today sad.
and i couldn't quite put my finger on it.
why was i so sad???
my heart knew.
it just took a minute for my brain to catch up.
17mths. 17 WHOLE MTHS. 17 mths since we said goodbye.

how have i survived? why is the world still turning without him in it?

these are questions i can not answer.

but i am almost certain the heart knows.

paula

my sweet, sweet boy, i can't believe you left 17mths ago. i miss you more than words could ever express. but i think, i think, you know all of this. i can't wait till we meet again.
with all my love, mommy

gonna give it a try!

i was reading through some blogs today and found this awesome post over at Team Ewan, and it really struck a chord. my favorite excerpt from the post is this.......

"....the hope I have in a future resurrection doesn't do away with or mitigate grief to any great degree in my present. "I hold both," .... "I can affirm with deep conviction my belief that God will raise my son to life again. And I can also say that living with the daily reality of his loss is hell, pure and simple. I know our pain is not without purpose, and I know we will see him again. But that doesn't change the fact that the present reality is hell."

"Though I grieve as one who does have hope -- and I thank God every day that I do -- it still hurts like hell. One absolutely does not do away with the other."~ Kirsten Petermann

she just hit the nail right on the head. this is exactly it. this is how i feel.

ohhh...to be as eloquent as others. sadly, i am not. but that's why i read other blogs. i read them b/c they can strike a chord in me or put down in words how i am feeling and i can go, "oh, yes! that is it exactly !!"

ever since wyatt died, i have felt a distance, an animosity between me god. i mean really, i am just mad as hell!! b/c just as Kirsten puts it....."it still hurts like hell" and it probably always will. but, ever since wyatt died, if nothing else, i have believed in god more. if for no other reason than the fact that there HAS to be something more.......i have to know deep in my heart that wyatt and i and all of my babies (mary, ethan, & my brown star babies, kendall & chandler) will be together again. and to know that, to feel that to the very core of my being, than i have to BELIEVE in GOD. i have to have HIM at the very core of my being and i do!

so to get to my title for this post "gonna give it a try!"
i also found this post while reading over at Sufficient Grace Ministries
this is what i am going to try......

Sufficient Grace Ministries is doing a segment called Walking With You Bereavement Support (for families grieving the loss of a baby or child). here is what SFG has to say about it ......."this segment features the telling of our stories, in weekly increments….encouraging one another by reading each story linked and leaving words of love and encouragement, as well as praying for one another."

on their blog post they ask "Will you walk with us?" and i am "gonna give it a try!" and say yes!

what this entails is........

Beginning next week, they will post a new Walking With You each Monday (excerpts from the original WWY).

The topics will be as follows:
Monday, January 9th – The First Steps (We will share the first part of the journey…finding out something was wrong with our baby)
Monday, January 16th – Waiting (We will share about the time we spent waiting to meet our little one.)
Monday, January 23rd – Meeting Our Babies (This post will tell of the precious time we spent with our sweet babies.)

i hope i can do this......
i am certainly "gonna give it a try!"
pray for me! (please!! i am going to need it)
pray that the words flow freely through me and that i honor wyatt and all my babies in the telling/sharing of their story.

i am really nervous about this.
wish me luck!!
