Baby Chicks!

It isn't spring without going to see the baby chicks at IFA!  Here's our annual spring IFA trip-

It's a Party!

McKay loves to have parties with his "friends" (all his toys...)  He will get ALL the toys out (translation = a big mess) and  set them up together for a party.  He will tell them stories, have the different animals sing songs, play games, and even have snacks.  He loves it!!  And Logan loves to mess it all up...

McKay is almost 4 and is getting so smart!  He remembers everything- don't ever suggest something you really don't want to do because he will remind you later.  He loves playing good guys and bad guys.  He is really into bonking things on the head (I think that came from Mario Bros. and Little Bunny Foo-Foo...).  He has got his letters down and is working on recognizing numbers (that has been harder than letters for him).  He loves to play outside, and to his Dad's delight, he is actually showing interest in playing ball- actually playing the game, not just running around chasing it.  Our sandbox is the favorite place to be these days. 

The second I take the camera out Logan starts smiling and saying "Cheese!"  Logan is just over 1 1/2 and I might be a little biased, but he is sure a cute kid!  He is so opposite McKay it amazes me.  He is INDEPENDENT!!  He doesn't really show interest in playing with anyone.  He will drive cars, growl, grunt, and vroom-vroom/chugga-chugga all day.  He loves to climb and will be on top of the piano playing with his feet in no time if the piano room door is left open (McKay kindly lets him in every few days when he forgets how much trouble he gets in...).  Logan should have been born in Germany or Russia...that kid can growl and grunt with the best of them but he is actually starting to say a few words- mama, dada, car, basketball, rock, bird, cat, look, bubbles (bubbas), chugga-chugga, vroom-vroom, Jake, coco (cocoanuts), tic-toc croc.  He loves animal sounds and can imatate just about any animal you want.  And he loves to dance!  The kid has some kind of internal beat that he just can't help bouncing if there is music on- it is pretty fun!

Super Mario Times

For Valentines I gave the boys Super Mario Wii.  Now I am not the biggest video games fan but I thought it would be something fun to help pass the time during the winter.  I don't think I could ever imagine what a hit this became!  McKay and Matt fell in love at first sight...and then they played it for a week straight- Uncle Steve has been a good sport when he comes and visits to play too.  Now the entertaining thing is McKay doesn't actually hold a controller and play- instead he holds a toy or a play remote and instructs, screams, acts out, and has bodily shakes as he tells Matt or Steve what to do.  (I am not allowed to play- I die to fast and then they all have to start over...they get too frustrated with me.)  Well the game did it's job- it entertained the boys (a little too well) for two months straight.  Luckily they are starting to get sick of it and ready to move on to playing outside...but wow- it was a hit!

Running Water!

All I want for Valentines is...RUNNING WATER!!  Well you see we had record low temperatures this winter...and our water pipes froze.  They froze the middle of January and my amazing uncles rigged up a hose from a hydrant in the orchard to pump water into our house- it wasn't ideal but at least we had running water until the pipes defrosted.  Well, February 13 was the lucky defrost day and we no longer had any water (hoses included).  The pipe defrosted and broke in the process.  So Valentines Day my wonderful uncles (can I say how great they are?) took the day to dig up our water lines, fix the break, cut out the frozen pipe, and put it all back together.  Matt was able to get part of the day off to help- and by 9 pm on Valentines, my water was back on and I could finally take a shower!  You never know how much you use water until you don't have it!  It was definately an Emergency Prepardness experience for us.  We are so grateful for indoor plumbing and our family who drop everything to help out in any way.

And it wouldn't be Valentines without a rose from my dad.  I love you Dad.  Thanks for all you do- even sending me a rose from Peru!

Balloon!

Daniel turned 5 in February (crazy!) and for his birthday party they had these balloons. I don't think Logan had ever really played balloons before and it was so fun to watch him!  He was in heaven!!  He laughed and laughed.  He knew the yellow balloon was his and if anyone else got near it he would growl at them.  It was so fun to watch him.  Of course when you have a room full of little kids and balloons there is no sitting still for a picture so they all are mostly a big blur...

January

Well January is a little blah so we tried to add some excitement to it...here are the hightlights:

New Years Pool Tournament

Every New Years Eve we have our annual Wright Pool Tournament.  This year we actually had our tournament January 4 so everyone could be there and it was a blast.  The kids played and watched movies while the adults visited and played pool.  Now don't get the wrong impression that we are pool champs- this is usually the one time a year that we all play so it is totally up to the luckiest person of the night- no skill necessary!   And that is pretty obvious because guess who is the winner for 2013?  That's right- ME!  I won a whole year of bragging rights and even get my name on the winner's wall of fame.  It is a fun tradition!

Here the older kids are trying to watch a movie but McKay and Logan are disrupting them so finally Anna, Kate, and Daniel went and sat right in front of the TV so the little ones couldn't bother them!

Christmas

We got a sick bug over the Christmas break...McKay and Matt got over the bug right before Christmas, but Logan got it hard Christmas Eve...he was pretty sick and miserable throughout all the holiday festivities.  So we had a lazy stay-at-home and relaxed Christmas- it was kind of nice to calm down after the busy wedding festivities.

 

Gma Margaret and Gpa Bill gave our family a train the week before Christmas.  It was a nice distraction from the sick bug and gave the boys something to get excited about.  McKay gathered all his toys together to have a party with his new toys.

More presents!  we celebrated Christmas again the 26th with my sisters and their families.  McKay was excited to open presents again.

McKay with his Christmas fun!  He was so excited about his Batcave.  He started to open the present and saw what it was- "Me a Batcave?  A Batcave for Me?"  He was so excited he just kept saying this over and over like he couldn't believe he got a Batcave.  It was Christmas magic!

A Visit from Peru!

She's here!  My little sister Katelyn got married in December so my mom was able to come back from Peru for the wedding and to visit for a few weeks.  It was so fun to have her back for a while!  We had a fun, crazy, busy, hectic December.

My aunts threw Katelyn a fun shower and my mom made Katelyn this beautiful quilt.  It was fun to see everyone and spend time with all our family with all the wedding and Christmas festivities.

Winter begins...

 

I may be a little biased but we have the most beautiful view from our deck.  Here is the sunset on Timp- I don't do any of those fancy photoshop stuff and sunsets never turn out as pretty in a picture so imagine this picture...only better!

The first real snowstorm of the year...and we have had such a cold long winter.  This was November 11 and the snow from this storm just finshed melting this week.  It has been a COLD and LONG and SNOWY winter!  We are ready for spring!

Chocolate Houses the day after Thanksgiving is always a favorite treat.  The boys weren't too happy that they had to stop eating treats so we could take a picture...

Santa came to our ward Christmas dinner.  McKay was excited to tell him he wanted a Super Hero or a Car.

He loves Santa.  Margaret has this decoration Santa that McKay hugs everytime he walks by.

I found these hats for $1 at Target and I couldn't resist...They were well worth $1- the boys ran around and gobbled all November long!
