Ada update and lots of pictures

Ada learned to roll from her back to her tummy within an hour of moving into our new apartment on June 1. She pretty much immediately started sleeping on her stomach, and her new mobility made the bassinet seem too small.

Ada found her feet and learned to take off her socks.

 It took her about 5 minutes but she was successful!

She also learned to take off her diaper, a few days ago I found her nearly diaperless; we thought I did a bad job putting it on. Then Ty left her on her play mat for a while and came back to this. Later he saw her actually reach down and undo the velcro...tricky girl!

June 8 - We decided to check out the beach in the morning. Even at 9:30 the parking lot was full and we had to find street parking, but it worked out fine. It was kind of cool out too, but it was nice to get out.

Arrival in San Diego!

May 27th - We left St. George for San Diego. Grandma and Grandpa came with us which was nice for lots of reasons. Ada and Ty got to ride with them and enjoy the A/C. The trip in theory is 6.5 hours but traffic was remarkably bad! Apparently Las Vegas is a popular destination for California residents so there was traffic kind of in the middle of nowhere. We made it eventually though to a Days Inn near SDSU. They were great and we got 2 suites next to each other, which was an upgrade and really convenient so we could cook in the kitchen, store frozen breastmilk, put Ada to sleep in our room and hang out with the monitor next door...

Ty and Grandpa had the hard job of driving all over San Diego looking at apartments. They did great though and found a place in a few days! 

Here we are at the new place on June 1, Ada seems quite pleased.

We're really happy with it too, pretty standard 2 bedroom apartment but it has a bonus loft and tons of storage for our tons of stuff. There's a park within walking distance that Ty and Ada try to visit as often as they can.

We lived there for a week with just what we had brought in the car plus an air mattress. We got our stuff on June 9th. Lots and lots of stuff. Fortunately we hired a few guys to unload our moving boxes from the parking lot, up a flight of stairs to our place. 

The next day I went back to work so Ada helped unpack.

Goodman Family Reunion - Memorial Day Weekend

Even though we got there later than we wanted to, we still had time to hang out with the Goodman crew before heading down to San Diego. It was great to just sit back and relax to the sounds of a horde of little kids and infants. It was awesome that everyone was able to make it, including Scott, even though he was totally spent from his new job.
We were lucky enough to be there for Dad/Grandpa's retirement. I can't believe he was there for 33 years (I think)! We didn't get too many good shots of him because he was always surrounded by people, but we did catch one of Mom/Grandma watching the highlight reel of his most recent adventure(holding Jaron), while Ada and Rachel flash us their winning smiles.

Later at Steve and Kim's place (still feels strange not calling it Grandma and Grandpa's), we coaxed the kids into going on the slip and slide despite the icy water and gusty wind. Logan and Lincoln gave it a valiant effort, but it was a bit rough to keep their momentum. Eventually, they decided it was fun enough to just run across it to enjoy the ice water.

Road Trip

We were hoping to leave Seattle on Sunday May 19th but things took longer than expected. It worked out though that we were still around on Tuesday when UHaul picked up the UBoxes, so we saw those safely off and left right after that, headed for St. George.

Johns family party

Morfar and his siblings were all in Seattle on May 18th after returning from their Alaska cruise (which they all thought was great and we should add to our bucket list). May 18th was also my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. So to celebrate we asked them to come up and help us paint/pack, nice of us huh? Dad was really helpful painting a lot and Ada was relaxed enough to let Mormor hold her for a while. Mormor also helped pack up the kitchen. Thanks a ton both of you! Later that evening we went downtown to meet with everyone for a buffet celebration of babies (Ada and Kira) and weddings. Ada slept with Ty for a while but then was extremely fussy. I think we were moving her around too much, and she was overwhelmed by so many people. Anyway Aunt Marietta took some pictures (we unfortunately didn't...) so here's a good one of Ada that night. None with the family since she wouldn't let anyone else hold her

4 months

We're finally getting sort of settled in San Diego so it's time to get caught up on the blog!

Ada turned 4 months on May 18th. On the 17th we went to the pediatrician for measurements (she's still skinny!) and vaccines (4 shots plus and oral, ugh, definitely didn't like those).

Weight: 11 lbs 2.5 oz (8%)
Head: 41 cm (50%)

The pediatrician gave us the ok to try rice cereal, though we decided to wait until we're settled in San Diego.
