Halloween Day!

Okay so holidays get celebrated way too much around here. We had FHE with pumpkins and haunted houses then the ward trunk or treat and then Grandma Deedee's party and finally Halloween Day with Derric's family. All the cousins had a lot of fun together, and the adults all enjoyed some soup and conversation.

The kids tried to choose what costumes they wanted to wear. So we ended up switching. Good thing for dress ups! They had so much fun at Grandmas party this year! I think Daxton and Mckynlie are the mummies.

Trunk or Treat

The kids had fun at their first ever ward trunk or treat. It sure was a lot easier collecting all that candy in one little parking lot! They loved seeing all their primary buddies.

Halloween Fun!

For Family Night we all decorated the annual 'Haunted House'! They kids had a lot of fun. Of course Draedon ate more candy then he put on the house. We just went to the pumpkin patch tonight. Claire I think had more fun then anyone. She wouldn't stop giggling or kicking. She loved to see the animals and the other kids. Draedon road on the animal train all by himself and Daxton roped a bull-he is becoming a true Lehite!

Draedons hurt leg

The Sunday I got back from being out of town and Draedon had an accident in Nursery! They brought him to me and told me that he had tripped and they heard a pop. I didn't think anything of it because he was hardly crying and he always falls. Well, we ended up having to get x-rays on the poor kids leg that day. They said that they couldn't find anything and thought that it could be deep tissue bruising or a fracture that wasn't showing up yet. They said he should be walking in 2-3 days. Well seven days went by and the poor kid had to crawl around everywhere or be carried. Here he is on the floor. He was in so much pain for so many days, I thought that it would never get better. They don't even give you a brace or anyting for kids this small. He was so angry and frustrated that he just couldn't get up and play. Monday he finally started limping around! Yeah for me!! He still is limping but after walking on it for awhile is in a lot of pain.

Derric goes to Indie!

Derric went to Indiana for a national recreation convention. Turns out the big boys did just that, a lot of recreation! He met up with some men from Boston and became instant buddies! They all got to go to the RCA dome for some games and acivities and to meet players etc. Then Derric and the Boston boys got invited up to a private party where they were catered to with shrimp and lobster! Of course you can't go to Indie and not visit the race track so that is where the "guys" were off to next. Just like every other Bostonian, they were all crazy, mad Red Sox fans so it was off the the Bar and Grill every night for Red Sox play off games. Geez could there be enough sports??? I think Derric was in heaven!

We had most of the fun on our trip but had family over for some quick microwave birthday cakes. Thanks for coming everyone!

Trip to Cali!

This trip to California was our first annual Rykert family vacation. Well Derric calls it a vacation, I call it a family trip. I invision a vacation full of massages and movies and dinners and no kids! Well they did make this trip fun though. We got to spend time with Clay, Cheryl and Gavin at their super cute place in Huntington Beach. They are only two blocks away from the ocean! We were super jealous! Daxton and Draedon couldn't get enough of Gavin. They played super heroes, played at the beach and the park and had a late night watching movies. Daxton followed Gavins lead as they put on superhero costumes and then proceeded to put on regular clothes over them. I was a bit confused until they came rushing out two hours later ripping off their regular clothes and ready to save the day! So funny,Gavin thought that one up! Derric and Clay had a fun time at the BYU vs UCLA game-Well until BYU didn't show up. We joined Clay and Cheryl for early morning seminary...oh I mean church...who goes to church at 8am??? Daxton went to primary with Clay & Cheryl. They sang him the welcome song and then sang him 'Happy Birthday' too. He thought that was pretty cool. After a little while in primary he decided it was time to go find us so before he left his class he turned and said to them,"Oh, I need to get all your names so that I can invite you to my birthday party."

Next we headed to Carlsbad to go to Legoland. That was actually Daxtons birthday, so he woke up to a new scooter, nerf gun and some chewing gum. They had a blast at Legoland and we felt that there was so much to do there that we could have stayed another day.

The next day we headed to San Diego to Sea World. By this time all the kids had had enough of the family trip. You see less smiles and they didn't want to sit through any of the shows. It was a little too much for kids that hadn't gotten a nap in four days and had been going no stop till 10pm every night. Derric and I pretty much were done by then too. The day was really hot so the boys and I decided to go down to the 'soak zone' to get a little refreshment during the Shamu show. Well they were both so excited for the whole 20min. and I have to say I was looking forward to a little splash myself... until Daxton decided he had to go to the bathroom 'right now'!!! Ugghh, "Hurry lets go!" I was really thinking, 'Just do it here, you be wet in a second anyway and nobody will know." Then I started thinking of all the other parents that might have done the same thing right where I was sitting. So we ran out, went and ran back. We plunked down in our seats and looked around out the laughing, drenched people sitting around us. I mean, come on Shamu, come back!

The way home we were finally able to stop off and visit with Drew and Krista in their cute new townhouse! It was late and we still had 3 1/2 hrs to go but Daxton and Draedon would not have it any other way. They had to see Uncle Drewsie and Aunt Krista! That pretty much ended the1st Annual Rykert Family Trip...can you say '1st annual' if you think there won't be another one???? If you got this far, thanks for reading...you must really love us.

Claire Eats!!!

Claire takes her first bites...well licks. She actually enjoyed licking the spoon and couldn't quite get the concept to open wide. Evertime she did there was her tongue blocking the way. She proceeded to make gagging gestures, but finally mangaed to swallow only to push whatever food was in there out to her chin!

Here are the latest pix. The boys have fun doing arts & crafts. They made some silly cowboy hats this week. Claire has been rolling around for a month & a half and is able to push herself around on the floor. She is always so happy! We love her to death. Daxton had his first day of preschool today. He loved his teacher Mrs Weber and all the new friends he made. There are five boys and one girl. This could be bad!!! I didn't have a hard time at all sending him off! Of course the moms got to stay the whole time for the first day!
