First Meal!!!

Kaysen is 4 1/2 months now, so we've started feeding him baby cereal. He doesn't quite have the swallowing thing down yet! I don't think any of the cereal actually made it into his belly, but the kids and I had fun giving it a try anyway!!!

Kaysen is Teething!!!

At the ripe old age of 4 months, Kaysen is already popping some teeth through those tender gums of his! With my other kids, I don't remember knowing for sure if they were teething. It was always kind of an "I don't know what's wrong...maybe they're teething" guessing game, but with Kaysen, we know for sure he is teething. He has been a fussy little guy, drooling all over the place, and gnawing on everything he can get his hands on...which is just that...his hands!

Grandma Gaddie's 94th Birthday!

Another year has come and we are grateful that we still have Grandma Gaddie here with us. Over Memorial Day weekend, Jason met us in Cedar City and we celebrated Grandma's 94th Birthday! She is proof that you can drink a diet coke every day and still live to be an old woman! Kenny and Lori and their kids (except Jordan) came down for the weekend too, so we got to help move Kristie and Jeff into their house in St. George. We had a fun time visiting everyone!

Kristie's Bridal Shower

The kids and I traveled to Northern Utah to visit family and also to attend my niece Kristie's Bridal Shower. Kristie is getting married on June 29th to Jeff Manning. They met while attending Dixie State College. They are the perfect match!...as you can see!

3 Reasons I LOVE being a Mom!!!

1- Jaylee
2-Bretten
3-Kaysen

What's so intriguing about dice???

We had some friends over for dinner and games the other night and half-way through one of our games, Bretten came in and found the dice. We tried to get it back because we needed it for our game, but he wouldn't give it up for the life of him! He started to throw a typical 2 year old tantrum, so I decided to just find another dice to use. The rest of the night Bretten didn't put that dice down once. Even after everyone left and I was cleaning up the games, I tried again to get it back so I could put it away with the game, but he threw a fit, so I just let it be. So, how did I end up getting it back? Take a guess!

Surprise Visit

Yesterday I took Jaylee and Bretten to Hannah Vest's Birthday party. While I was there, Jason called me and said my Grandma and Grandpa Bogedahl were at the pharmacy and that they wanted to come see us, so I ran home to see them. I guess they were passing through Page on their way back home to Torrey, UT and I'm so glad they stopped by to see us. Unfortunately they didn't get to see Jaylee and Bretten because they had been looking forward to that Birthday Party all week and would have never forgiven me if I'd made them come home. Little Kaysen did get to see them though and we got to snap a few precious pictures before they left. It was so good to see them and have a short little visit with them.

Oh to be a kid!!!

Bretten didn't know I was filming him, but I thought this was cute! He was just in "la la kid land" and enjoying his string cheese. It just made me remember what being a kid is all about. (That noise in the background is my pump...story of my life!!!)

How NOT to cook a pizza!!!

Well, Thursday night rolled around, and as I prepared for our "Thursday Night Ritual" of pizza and our favorite show, Survivor, I had quite the "I'm an Idiot" experience.
We usually rotate between ordering pizza, making home-made pizzas, and cooking freezer pizzas. This week, it was freezer pizza week! So, imagine this scenario if you can....
I was in the kitchen trying to get the pizzas into the oven before Jason got home from work. I had the pizzas on tinfoil all ready to go in the oven. I opened the oven door and hurried and pushed the pizzas in, but one slid half-way off of the tinfoil. Instead of being smart and pulling out the oven rack to fix the problem, I decided I was coordinated (and invincible) enough that I could stick my whole arm into the oven, all the way to the back, and push the pizza back onto the foil without any worries. Well, I wasn't as cool as I thought and I got quite the burn!!! My arm hit the red heating element and before I could even pull my arm out, the smell of my burnt flesh filled the room. Yuck! I felt my arm overcome with pain and as I looked down to see a huge gash burned in my arm, it took everything I had not to faint...into the oven mind you, as it was still wide open. I felt tears rolling down my face and I must have been screaming because at that moment, my kids came running into the kitchen with worried looks on their faces. I hurried and closed the stove door (that still had smoke coming out from the heating element that just about "killed" me) so that my kids wouldn't hurt themselves. I immediately ran over to the sink and turned on the cold water. I was looking at my burn in shock. I didn't know what to do. The skin was just gone and nothing filled the gash that was there. I didn't know what to do and I was in so much pain I couldn't even think. All I was thinking is how could I make this burning sting stop??? I ran over to the cupboard and pulled out my left over pain killers that I'd received after I had my c-section back in January. It felt like an eternity as I was trying to open the pill bottles. They finally came open, spilling out all over the floor, and I desperately downed as many as I dared. Just then, Jason came in the door and I started yelling for him to hurry and come here. He came back to the kitchen and saw me down on the floor with a crazy look of despair on my face, a very smelly kitchen, screaming kids (as I had scared them by this point), and pain killers all over the floor (I can only imagine what his first thoughts were). I immediately told him to take me to the ER.
He told me to calm down, and I quickly did as I realized what impressions he was getting from this whole scene. I explained to him what just happened. He took one look at my burn and calmly told me "Oh, you'll be okay!" I knew he was only worried about not accumulating any more medical bills (as we still have bills constantly coming in from Kaysen's birth). So, anyways, to make a long story short, I did live...I know...Shocking!!!, and I didn't have to go to the ER, but man, what a crazy night. I had ice packs on my arm all night. Oh, and by the way, we had to throw the pizzas away because they smelled so bad....or maybe it was just the lingering smell, but Eww...I hope I never experience anything like that again! Burns are the worse! Here is a picture of it almost 1 1/2 weeks later...it looks A LOT better than it did. Enjoy and learn from my stupidity!
