poor birthday boy!

papa was in london last week. he was scheduled to arrive home on thursday night at about 7:30. he got to heathrow airport in time and realized his passport was missing! luckily, he was able to locate it at the hotel where he had stayed. unluckily, the hotel was a $100 taxi ride and an hour away from the airport. he schlepped back to the hotel, got his passport, schlepped back to the airport and missed his flight. and it was his birthday. poor birthday boy! luckily he caught a flight four hours later and did not have to pay a hefty fee. he finally got home at 2 am. all is well in zion.

papa's birthday party

when papa got home from work on friday (the day after his real birthday) we surprised him with dinner- served by the chilluns. first he sat down to open a present. it was a lobster cutter-opener thingie. hmm... i wonder what is next?


this was the highlight of the kids' year so far. they LOVED playing with the lobsters- just like papa did when he was little. we got two. the big one, a boy (cuz "boys are always bigger than girls") was named jeremy and the smaller one (a girl) was named mirage.

i made papa a carrot cake. i tried a new recipe- i have to say, this was the best i have ever had. i'm dreaming of it right now.

twas a good day after all!

p.s. on the walk home from the bus stop, jojo said, "mama, is 39 (papa's age) close to 100?" funny boy!

"i miss grandma and grandpa..."

lilo loved cuddling with grandpa... jojo was there to torture lilo


lilo ran to get his tools when he saw we were working on the vacuum. then he "helped" grandpa fix it.

grandma and grandpa pearson were here for 5 days. they came for h's baptism. we had such a nice time. it was so nice to have them on our turf. it had been way too long. they were last here when lilo was born- over two years ago.

grandpa was so nice to speak at the baptism and did a beautiful job. he also organized my garage and won jojo's heart by spending a good while with him and his "mr." books. he let lilo help him fix my vacuum. thanks for all of your help, dad. we miss you already!

grandma did the ultimate favor of unloading my dishwasher for me (i HATE unloading) and she loaded it too! she read to the kids, especially h. she put all of the food together for the baptism and helped clean up. she rotated and folded a ginormous load of laundry and she cuddled with h and did night duty when she was sick (h had strep!)

thank you for all your help mom and dad, grandpa and grandma. we love you and want to see you soon.

some of the things the kids have said these past few days...

h said, "why did they have to go home?"

h also said, "i wish grandma and grandpa could come here for 100 years!"

jojo said, "i wish they could come here for infinity years!"

jojo said, "grandma and grandpa both start with gra."

jojo said, "are they coming back soon?"

h said, "how long until we go see grandma and grandpa?"

h speaking to grandma said, "you could just go back and get the dogs and bring them here."

h's baptism

it was such a special day. grandpa and grandma pearson were here from utah, cousins cameron and katie came from manhattan, two special friends from gray street and lots of ward members joined us in celebrating h's baptism.

happy new year!

just thought i'd send ya'll that little wish. we're pretty boring. we never do anything big on new years eve. even when we lived 4 blocks away from times square we always opted to stay in. this year we watched evan almighty with the kids and after we put them to bed i fell asleep next to papa while he watched something on tv. he woke me up at around 11:58 and forced me to stay awake to watch the ball drop and toast with sparkling cider. it was perfect.

for the adorable monkey slippers you gave to jojo. he loves them and they keep his little tootsies nice and warmie.
