Party pics from last Friday are finally up! :D Sorry, I know I'm a little slow these days. Been busy with Chinese New Year visiting, and angpow collecting... :) Updates and more pics later! :D

I know this is beginning to look like a photo album instead, but hey, this is my blog, and I can post whatever I want! Hahahah! Nah, it's just that I'm back for a short period of time, so I wanna make all my precious memories last forever.

This year is supposedly not a very good one for me. According to all the predictions and all. But none-the-less, I'm trying to make this year a good one. It's gonna be my final year of studies, as a full-time student *keeping my fingers crossed*, so I'm determined to make this year a memorable one (hopefully, in more ways than one!)

It was good seeing everyone that night! It brings back memories... of the times when I used to hang out so much with you guys. I miss you guys. I miss the good old times.

And to *you*, I am really hoping that I'll have the opportunity to meet up with you one more time before I head back to Melbourne. For I do not know what the future holds, I do not know whether I'm gonna be back in KL again after this.

I'm at a crossroad in my life, and I do not know where I'm heading...

I hate this feeling. I hate the uncertainty.

AND OH, BEFORE I FORGET, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE! (OFFICIALLY).

I know I'm very delayed, for it's already the 3rd day of CNY, but I haven't had time to blog :D So, please, do forgive me! Hehehehe... Better late than never, rite?

I love being on holiday! Woohoo!!!

Can sleep anytime you want, and wake up when the sun sets! How kewll is that? It's a privilege not everyone gets to enjoy! Hahahahaha...

The Spirit of "Gong Xi Fa Cai"

I got dragged to the city to follow my Mom do some Chinese New Year shopping. But no, that was not the dreaded part. The most dreadful part was having to sit for an hour in the hair dresser's cause she wanted a hair wash-cut-blowdry before the new year comes. :(

THEN, we went to do some shopping. Headed to Chinatown and I hate going to Chinatown cause it's hot and dodgy, and salespersons there have absolutely loudspeaker voice, and totally no manners, saying the most inappropriate things, and making funny "whistling" noises. But wow! This trip, it was slightly different.

.

First and foremost, the place looks wayyy better now. With covered walkways, and cleaner roads. (Maybe I was there early, before the rubbish starts to accumulate). And to my utter surprise, the salespersons were actually quite nice and courteous. I think it's because they thought I was a tourist. (Yes, they mistaken me for a Korean. Which part of me looks Korean, my gosh!). But nevermind, since I get special treatment, I guess I could be Korean for a day :) Hehehehe.

Oh look. Pomeloes!! I haven't seeen those in ages! For those of you who haven't tried it before. It's like a hugeee orange, with heaps of pulp inside, and it tastes absolutely yummy! The only trouble is, you can't peel it like peeling oranges. The skin's rather thick. So you've got to like, slit it open with a knife, and then peel along the grooves. (Okay, I don't think my description's very good. Don't blame me if you can't get through to the fruit. Hehehe)

Mom bought lotsa fruits! :) Yes, we're all fruit junkies!!! Hehehe. I got to eat my "jambu air" (Sorry, can't remember what it's called in English) :( YumMmM.... and oh, we bought this new fruit as well! Translated from chinese characters to English as "the Imperial fruit". It kinda looks like tiny pears. And it's damnnn sweet! Yummm, I likeeeee.. ( wanted to post pics, but I just realised that I've gobbled down all of them).

And hey, Chinese New Year ain't complete with some flower decorations at home. :) Scouted around for my favourite pussywillows! And to my amazement, they come in lots of colours now!! (The original's white, for those who don't know). Pink, red, yellow, blue, lilac!!! Wowwww.... howwww pweeeeettyyyyy...

Headed to the Curve and Tesco at night, to get some CNY cookies. I don't know why, but dad seems to have a fascination for the cookies there. He bought some from The Curve last year, and according to him, they were absolutely yummy *shrugs*

Went into Tesco and got a shock of my life!! There was a crowd around 12 midnite, and we blardee had to wait to get our shopping trolleys!! Can you believe that??? Don't they all need to sleep and get up to work the next day?!? What are they doing?? shopping in the middle of the night! Wow!!! I haven't seen that in a longggg timeee!

The Chinese New Year spirit is sooo alive here!! I absolutely love it! I'm so glad I get to spend this auspicious day back home, with my family (Yes, I was stuck in Melbourne last year, cause class started early). It's times like these that you really wanna be home! Besides the fact that the city never sleeps!

Sleepless over Geisha?!?

Just came home after watching "Memoirs of a Geisha"...

.

It's 3.33 am now (I'm serious!) and I lie awake, thinking of the movie. I mean, it's not like the movie had such a greaaattt impact on me, but really, itwas better than expected. Maybe cause I wasn't expecting much, due to the "only-average" reviews. But I thought it was quite good. Well, partially because I'm a hopeless romantic. I am a person who thinks with my heart, and not with my head. I can't deny that I was touched by her determination and sacrifice, to go all out on her journey towards her one and only love.

It just got me to thinking... (spoilers ahead, but I'm sure ALL of you would have watched it already)

.

What if he never came back for her? Would she have waited forever? Just not knowing what's to happen next. Not knowing if he'll ever come looking for her one day? Not knowing whether he'll ever find out how she trulyfeels about him all these years? Would he ever have found out that she's the person she is today, because of him?And neither will she ever know how he feels.

.

But really, I couldn't help but wonder. Would she have waited? Years, after years, till she got all old and wrinkley? Or would she have put it all in the past, dragged her sorry ass and moved on with life, making an honest living??

.

Well, we hear her story today. But what about all the others whose dreams did not come true? Those who never had the chance to pursue their love, their ambitions? Those who never fought, or maybe... those who did, and lost. Whatever happened to them? To their lives?

.

Women today, have we changed from those times? Are we fighting for what we want? Or really, are we still succumbing to fate? Do we truly have a choice at the end of the day?!?

HhMmm, maybe I'm just pondering too much over nothing. Or maybe I'm not. Perhaps it's a totally valid question to be asking myself.

I've been having this craving for a good bowl of assam laksa for a longggg timeee.... One whole friggin' year to be exact!

Thought I'd have the chance to savour it when I get back to Malaysia, but I was only back for a couple of days before I had to travel down to Singapore for my one month long hospital attachment.
.
And being me, I was too busy partying and meeting up with my friends, that I was waking up wayyy too late for lunch. And assam laksa for dinner just seems, a little... erm, funny?
.
Oh, I digress... But yeah, what I'm trying to say is, I finally got to eat my favourite assam laksa after getting back from Singapore! YAY!!! Like Final-eff-ingly!!!

Hehehe... Ade & I just CAN'T wait to gobble down our food~!

Decided to walk around for abit after lunch, to help digest our food! I went to snap passport photos, while the rest of them just staredddd! :( Hahahaha... and then Karen had to leave early to meet someone. So, the rest of us just lamed around.... and woalaa! Snapped photos!

We used Sau as an excuse, since he's not local. So, he can act all touristy, and *clicking away* Hehehe... But I mean, the CNY deco's were nice wutttt! Nothing wrong with us being a little "jakun", snapping photos at shopping complexes.

The rest then left for some place else, and being the filial daughter I am, I promised mom that I'd buy vegetables for tonight. Mom was gonna cook dinner, but was too lazy to get up early to go to the market to get fresh food!

So I had to drag my sorry ass to Giant to get stuff for me. Mom wanted to make mushrooms with beancurd. *yum* But anyways, yes, getting to the point. I was browsing around, choosing the "best" beancurd... (Note: I don't do this very often. I don't quite know which is the correct beancurd to use) and to my utter disbelief, I saw this packet of mouldy beancurd on sale!!

I mean, it's not like I'm at some dodgy night market or something. This is a hugeeee supermarket! So, I approached the sales assistant, trying to be nice and told him that the beancurd's mouldy. And that they shouldn't be selling it. And he had the guts to say "Tak apa lah, biarkan sahaja" (translated in English to "Doesn't matter. Just leave it there").

I was like... "WHAT??" Some nerves he's got to say that to me!!!

Well, despite having a greattt time being home and savouring all my favourite local delicacies, the incompetence of those stupid, idiotic staff just managed to kill my day!

Seriously.... *ARGGHH*

Do I have to be reminded of the country's flaw the minute I step home? Damnit! Damn *YOU* (the stupid guy who just ruined my beautiful, happy day) Screw you!

Before I sign off, I *heart* KL! Hahahahaha. I'm not gonna let you morons screw up my summer holidays! But just a piece of advice: go get yourself some brains!

Seafood Galore

When I was on the coach on my way back to KL the other day, I got a rather unexpected phone call. It was unexpected, but a pleasant one :)

Aunt Jeannie : Ling ( Yes, my family & relatives call me that ) are you free for dinner tonight?
.
Mei : Wah! so nice of you to call and invite me, knowing that I'm coming back today.
Is this for me? Or are we celebrating some special occasion?
.
Aunt Jeannie : Erm , your cousin's birthday lah! But that doesn't mean you're less special.
Since you're coming back today, the more you should come rite?
You're special too ! :)

But being the gullible me, I got sucked in. And besides, I wouldn't miss out on free food! Since she's treating us to dinner! Hehehehe....

To my utter surprise, we were gonna have seafood! OH YUMMM. My absolute favourite!
.
Headed eagerly to Subang Village for my first seafood dinner (in Malaysia, for this summer). I was under the impression that we were heading to Subang... which by the way, is sooo much nearer to my place compared to Subang Village. I practically had no idea where we were driving to!

The place didn't look all that appealing. Just like any other local seafood restaurants around. But wow, was it crazily crowded! (and yes, through my personal experience, crowded restaurants are wayyyy better than the quiet ones!)

And yummy *lick lick*, food was good, although the presentation wasn't spectacular!

The place was not air-conditioned. So half way through our meals, we were all sweating like pigs! But hey, that did not deter us from digging into the prawns and crabs and all!

I had so much crabs that I was starting to worry that I was gonna get rashes! Yes, I'm kinda allergic to crabs! How sad huh??? But hey, food was so good that I couldn't resist myself a second helping, and the third, and the fourth! Love them! *Slurp*

Thank God I'm still okay. No rash, no itch, no whatever!

All-in-all, dinner was great! Thanks for inviting me! :D

Said goodbye to the medical and nursing staff at the Neonatology Department @ SGH. And of course, not forgetting to thank them for being so enthusiastic and willing to teach. :)

Met up with my nephews and their "bride to be's" for an absolutely fantastic buffet dinner @ The Swissotel.

And I went totally bezzerk when I saw the chocolate fountain! *UNLIMITED SUPPLY* YUmMmMm... Ate so much I felt like chucking after that!

Went out to meet some friends after that. Since it was my last night, I definitely didn't wanna spend it moping at home! (although I haven't packed my luggage)

Went Clubbing with them :) And had a few drinks too many...

And then pubbing... *Gosh, was I red by thennn*

I got home around 3am, and then went to bed straight. Couldn't be bothered packing my stuff. Too darn tired. Decided to wake up early the next day, and just stuff everything into my bag! Hahahaha.

Caught the 8am bus back to KL! :)

Yippie, I'm home nowwww... I love my home.... never realised I missed home so much till I sank into bed! *heaven*

But I kinda miss Singapore a tad bit.

I miss...

1. their clean toilets,
2. their efficient public transports (yes, I had to rely on MRT's, buyses, and cabs)
3. shopping :)
4. my friends there :(
   

But hey, I'm happy to be homeeeeee... I somehow feel that's where my heart belongs. Maybe it's because I've got unfinished business I want to return to.
