We had a great Christmas. It was just fun: the kids were happy and excited, and I didn't feel stressed. Sadie's big gift was a Craigslist find, but she couldn't be more excited about it. The boys were just happy with everything and we just hung out and had fun together. It's humbling to think about how blessed we really are, and this is the right time of year for that. So even more than any "things" that were associated with the day, I am thankful and happy to have wonderful neighbors, great friends and family (and a way to keep in touch with all of them), the faith and knowledge that God and Jesus Christ are real and that there is a purpose to this existence, and the profound ability to experience happiness and beauty here on this earth. I tend to be more of a pessimist than not, but the times of peace and joy I feel are priceless and make up for the hard times! I don't always feel this good at Christmas, but I know I need to acknowledge it when I do. Here are some fun pictures from our day:
