I have been a real slacker when it comes to blogging. I have taken pictures, thinking I will put this on the blog, but never get around to it. We had our family pictures taken, which really needed to be done. Our last one was 2 years ago and we needed to include Tyson. It is a cold day, but the sun was out. The kids were cold and complained a bit, but they turned out great. If you live in Utah County, I would recommend Cheapshots Photography. She does a wonderful job and is great working with kids. A New School Year

The girls started school on Wednesday the 19th. They were so excited for days. They would look at the calander every day and do a countdown. Shayla started 3rd grade and her teacher is Mr. Baird. Olivia is in 2nd grade and her teacher is Ms. Rhodes. They both seem like good teachers from what I have heard. I haven't met them yet. The school didn't have a Back to School night. I took them the first day and walked them to their classes. Olivia let me take her picture outside of her door, but Shayla just walked right in. It is nice to have school back in session. It seems more organized having to follow a schedule. Dawson starts Preschool next week. We went today to the Open House and met his teachers and saw his classroom. He is really excited. Logan wants to go to school too. He even sat down last night, when the kids were doing their homework, and looked at some books. He told us he was doing his homework.

Olivia Gets Stitches

We went to Vernal last weekend. David volunteered to go and help run a route for Frito Lay. The company paid for our gas to go and for the hotel. We thought it would be a fun way to go see his brother and his family. We stayed in the hotel Thursday night and Friday night. Saturday we checked out of the hotel and stayed with Mike and Janice. Sunday, the kids were out playing on the trampoline. The trampoline has been slowly falling apart and the mat was being held on by maybe 20 springs. The kids were just sitting on it and not really jumping. We could hear every once in awhile another spring pop off. Olivia and Kayci were on the trampoline and saw that another spring was pulling off. Kayci told Olivia to go and see if she could pull the spring off before it broke itself. Olivia went to pull the spring and it popped off and cut her on the head. She came inside the house screaming and her whole face was covered in blood. We had no idea where she had been cut until we cleaned it up. We were grateful to see the cut in her eyebrow and not her eye. We looked it over and decided that she needed stitiches. We drove to the ER in Vernal. Olivia was very scared about getting the stitches, she was hoping that they could just glue it. Her she is in the exam room waiting for the nurse to come in. She had almost filled the whole band aid up with blood. When they nurse came in, she took off the band aid and cleaned it up to look at it, then put another bandage on it until the doctor came in.
We took this picture of the cut before the nurse put the new bandage on. I should have gotten closer up, but was in a hurry to take it. When the doctor came in and looked at the cut, he said that she needed stitches. She tried to jump off of the table and run away. David had to sit on the table to keep her there. She was not thrilled about getting the needle to numb her head. After her head was numb, they cleaned the cut with water to flush it out, then had her get back on the table so they could stitch her up.
The doctor used the soap to clean the area before stitching. They put the paper pads on her head so just the cut was exposed. He kept telling her that they were just still cleaning the cut and she had no idea that they were stitching her up.

She ended up getting 3 stitches. She made it through it all and was very brave and scared at the same time. Her first day of school, she had alot of people asking her what happened to her eye. We have an appointment to have the stitches taken out and we will see how she deals with that.

The Couch

Some of you may have heard about this, or already seen the pictures, but some haven't so I thought I would tell the story on my blog. I was babysitting last week, and the boys were playing downstairs. I usually don't go check on them unless there is screaming or crying going on. They came upstairs after being down there for awhile and said, "Come look at what Logan and Ezra did to the couch." I was thinking the cushions were all off, which is something they do all the time. David had talked to all the kids a few days before and said that they weren't allowed to take the cushions and blankets off the couches anymore. That is what I was expecting to see, the blankets and cushions off. As I walked down the stairs, I noticed stuffing on the stairs. I looked into the family room the this is what I saw. There was stuffing everywhere. I couldn't believe the mess. I stayed calm though and put the boys in time out. I explained to them that what they did was very bad. We had to leave and go pick up David from work, so we didn't clean it up. I told David that the boys were in trouble and he asked what they had done. I said I couldn't explain it, he had to see if for himself. He was upset when he saw it too. It took us 9 garbage bags to fill with the stuffing. They had used scissors and cut open all the back cushions and pulled all of the stuffing out. They didn't open up the bottom cushions. They also stabbed some of the side pillows and stabbed the back of our other couches. David says that Dawson and Logan are grounded until January, but how can you really ground a 2 and 4 year old?
They pretty much destroyed the whole room. That is the book case and all the books were under the pile of stuffing. They had the cushions off of the blue couches and ripped them up some too.
I love my boys eventhough they sure do know how to make a mess.

Tyson's 1 month photos

I went and had Tyson's pictures taken. I spent way too much money on them, but they turned out really cute. He is now 7 weeks old, I am just late getting these posted. He is a cute baby, but spoiled. He loves to be held and loves to eat. He is starting to smile now. All of his siblings love to hold him. He is a joy to have in our home.

Delivery Date Set

I had my 36 week appointment yesterday, well I am 37 weeks today, so it is close. The baby is growing great and has a good strong heartbeat. I have no problems with my blood pressure. I don't have to get checked for dialation since I am having a c-section. I am not sure why that is, but I will not argue. He said that I have 3 weeks to go, but with the c-section it is only 2. He gave the OK to have the nurses call and get the c-section scheduled. I am having him on June 10th. My c-section is scheduled for 7am, so we have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. That means, I have to wake up at 4:30am to be ready to leave the house by 5:00am. It is going to be an early morning. I told David that we could stop by a fast food place and grab him something to eat on our way to the hospital. Now, I need to get last minute things done. I think the next couple of weeks will go by fast. My girls are out of school on Friday, and that is also my last day of babysitting for the summer.

WICKED FUN

On Friday May 1st, I went and saw the Broadway Musical WICKED. It was a wonderful musical. I had not heard of it before. My Sisiter in Law and husband gave me a ticket for Christmas. It was a girls night out with my sister in laws and mother and father in law and some friends of Dianes. We went out to dinner first at Bucca de Bucca ( I am not sure on the spelling) It is a family style Italian restaurant. You order big orders of entrees and share them. It was really yummy food. We then walked a couple of blocks to the Capital Theatre. I had borrowed the music from a friend and have been listening to it for a few months. I loved the music and was anxious to see how the story played out. For those of you who don't know about it. It is the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. It tells how she became Wicked, or thought of as being wicked. I recommend anyone who has never seen it to try and get tickets sometime. You will love it!!

The countdown has begun

I have reached 33 weeks now and realized that I haven't really taken any pictures this pregnancy. I only have 6 weeks to go and I am starting to get uncomfortable. It is harder to get up and to bend over and clean up the floor. It will be nice when it is over and I can hold him on the outside and have my body back to somewhat normal. I haven't actually discussed the date with my doctor yet, but I am planning on having my c-section on June 10th. That is when I will be 39 weeks. He has been fine with scheduling it then with my last few babies. David brought the bassinet in from the garage on Saturday and I took it all apart and cleaned it up. I need to go get the carseat and do the same to it. With it being the last month of school, I am sure the time will pass by quickly and suddenly it will be time to welcome him to the world.

Shayla took this picture for me. I am getting big. She asked the other day what I was going to do when all my shirts got too small. I told her I would be fine and that I don't have too much more growing to do.

My New Project

I was watching a morning show the other day and they showed this project for a clock kit you can buy at Roberts. I thought is was so cute, and with the 40% off coupon is was a good price. They had several styles to chose from, but I really liked this one. I had my friend come over and help me hang it. I asked her to come and help with leveling, then she ended up doing almost everything because she thought it wasn't a good idea for me to stand on the piano. I loved how it turned out. I just go and sit on the couch and look at it. It says, We will always have these moments to remember.

Food Storage

We have been asked by the church to get our food storage. As member of the church, we understand the great importance of this request. I try to buy a little extra of things we use reguraly and replace it as soon as I use it. To me, this is a wonderful thing. There have been times when we have had to use what we have to make it a few weeks, that is why we have it. I was just at the store today at a case lot sale stocking up on needed items. I have never doubted this and will continue to build up my food storage. I watched the Oprah show yesterday and she talked about things we can live without. One of the families she featured had a years supply of food that could feed her family of four. I was impressed by this because it is something I am striving toward. She said she would stock up on items when they were on sale. She was able to go into her food storage and donate food and hygeine supplies to a family that needed them. It didn't make a big dent in her supply and she felt good about helping a needy family. If you go onto oprahs website, you can read the comments that people have made about the show. They are very negative toward her having that much food. It is wasteful to them and feel as if she has a hording problem and a shopping addiction. I have a cousin who recently was talking to co workers about food storage, and many of them were negative about it and saying how they wouldn't want to store food for that long and have to eat it. In these economic times, it is wonderful to have your food storage. Many people are being laid off, if only they could reduce their stress by having a year supply of food. I am grateful for the request by our church leaders to have our food storage. It is a wonderful blessing and will really help in times of need. I just wish that other will embrace this and not see it as foolishness.

New Hair Cuts

I took the girls earlier this month to get their hair cut. Shayla had been asking me for weeks if she could get it done. Olivia kept saying that she has never had a hair cut besides when Daddy trimed it once. I set up and appointment and took them. They were so excited. I paid a little extra to get their hair washed. Shayla sat in the chair and told the stylist how she wanted it cut, but Olivia had no idea. I just told them to take a few inches off the back and it give her a little side bang. When they were done, Shayla was so happy with hers, but Olivia started crying when we got in the car. I asked her what was wrong. She said that they didn't cut her hair. I said that they did, but it wasn't cut like Shayla's, I just had them trim it. She was very disappointed and complained about it all night. That is why she is grumpy in one of the pictures, she didn't like her hair. She is ok with it now, but she did want me to take her back the next day and get it cut again.
Once again, Dawson decided to be his own barber. I found him in the bathroom and he was combing his hair. He said he wanted it to be handsome, which means combed over to the side. I took the comb from him and started to do it, but as I was combing, I noticed hair in the comb. As I looked around, I saw hair in the sink and on the floor. He had tried to cut his hair again and had four patches on his head. Last time he cut his hair, we told him that we would shave his head if he did it again. When David came home, I showed him Dawsons head and told him to shave it. David took him in the bathroom and buzzed his head. He would have gone shorter, but I said it was fine and could live with seeing the patches. Dawson screamed the whole time and when he came to show me, gave me a hug and said he wanted it back how it was, I told him we could grow it back, but not if he cuts his own hair.

Our New Ride

We have decided that our van is slowly giving up on us. The sliding door refuses to unlock, the windshield wipers are always standing up, the glove box is missing a cover, and many more things. Also, our family is growing and we don't all fit in the car when we have the foster kids with us. We have been thinking about getting a suburban for a while now. We sold our Jetta to some friends and started looking for a suburban. We found this one and liked it. We went on David's birthday to test drive it and see how it was. We liked it and bought it. They family we bought it from didn't clean it out. It took me 2 hours to clean all the garbage out and vacuum it. I almost filled a garbage bag full of trash and item they left in there. I bought an air freshner to help with a smell it had. Now, it is looking good and I am enjoying the extra room. The 4 wheel drive has been nice too. Dawson is always asking if we are really going to keep it. We tell him yes, it is our car. I am having the front windshield replaced today so we can get it to pass safety. Hopefully, we can get it registered next week.

Basement Remodel

We are remodeling the basement and adding two more bedrooms. David started the framing while he had a vacation week. He got a lot done and is almost done framing. He has to work on moving some electrical wires, then we can start sheet rocking. We are out of room upstairs and as of right now have no place for the baby to go. We are going to move the girls downstairs and move Dawson and Logan into their old room, then make the boys old room the nursery, which it has always been. I am excited to see the finished work. The room downstairs has been the kids playroom, but they don't like to play in there because the floor is too cold. It has been a waste of space and I am glad it can be used for a good purpose now. The other room is going to be my craft room, so I can finally clean out my closets upstairs.

My Dad

For those of you who know my Dad. He isn't that friendly of a person if he doesn't know you. He is very quiet and likes to be left alone. When he became a grandpa, this side of him is gone and you get to see a whole other person. My Dad loves his grandkids and enjoys spending time with them. He takes them on Geo Cache hunts and teases them. I got some cute pictures of him playing with some of his grandsons at Christmas. You can see the loves in his eyes that he has for them. I love my Dad a lot and he is a great example to me. I know I don't tell his often that I love him, but I hope he knows. I Love You Dad!

We Are Having A Boy!!

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and found out that I am having another boy. It was fun to have the kids with us there. Shayla had a lot of questions for the ultrasound tech. Olivia was interested, but not as much as Shayla. The boys really didn't pay attention. I have to go back in 5 weeks to have another one done. The tech wasn't able to get some views of the baby that they like to get. Now we are brainstorming names. We haven't agreed on any yet and are grateful that we still have four months to decide. Shayla sat down yesterday and wrote 5 names she liked. They are: Landon, Gavin, Taylor, Carson, and Aiden. Olivia decided today to make her list. Here are her choices: Ammon, Jimmy, Kody, Liam and Quinn. After the ultrasound we went out to dinner and the kids were talking about names and Dawsons suggestions were: Indiana Jones and Darth Vador. Logan really liked Lightening. Right now, we have no room to put the baby in, so David started building two more bedrooms downstairs. I will have to put a post of that soon.
