Back from Hawaii !!

We are back from our wonderful trip to Hawaii!! It was so awesome. I will have to post some pics and tell you all about it soon. But first I need to tell you all about Christmas Packages for Missionaries. Now that I'm done vacationing I need to start working on this project.

Christmas Packages for Brazil Missionaries

Brian's Mission President has asked if there are any parents that would be willing to send an extra package for Natal (Christmas) for missionaries that don't get packages from home. We are going to try to send 2 Christmas packages. So if anyone would like to donate items for the missionaries in Brazil let me know. We will try to have the first package ready to go out by October 30. This package will include things like personal hygiene items, stickers, pens, cool stuff. Then we will send another one in November, once the Christmas Candy is on the shelf.

Any little donation will be appreciated.

FAREWELL TO THE WILSONS

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson spoke in church Sunday. They did such a good job. They didn't even have anything written on paper. They were both funny, witty, and brought the spirit into the meeting. After wards we had a luncheon for them at the park at the pavilion. It turned out so nice. Then around 1:30 the Stake President set them apart. About 2 :30 everyone came to our house to play games and eat leftovers and we ended the night with an adult game of OH WELL around 8:00. We all had a great time.

They left for the MTC at 6:00 Monday morning. So we got up early to see them off. They will stay at the MTC until Friday, spent the night with Murr and Tee, and fly out Saturday morning to Hawaii.

We all ready got our first phone call from Grandpa Gubler (the first one of many to come...lol) on Monday telling us about an earthquake in Hawaii.....well, he actually got his facts wrong. But he is trying to stay informed, along with keep all of us informed. And we also got our first phone call from Missionary Grandma Wilson. She called us on Tuesday, telling us all about their MTC experience thus far. She said it was like being in school again. They have a lot of class room time. They also taught their first discussion.

Well, I will have to post pictures of the farewell later....after I read the long stupid updated terms of service for this blog site. It won't let me post pics until I check mark the accept box. And the agreement is way to long to read right now.

IT'S ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE!!

Well Today, September 16th, is Brian's year mark. He is doing Great! I can't say whether it has gone by fast or slow......I guess both, depending on the day. Anyway I just want to say thanks to all of you who write him. I know that he looks forward to getting your letters.

THEY'RE GOING TO HAWAII!!!

Brent's parents got their mission call on Friday and they waited to open it up on Saturday while we were all at the Gubler Reunion. And yes....they are going to the Hawaii and will be serving at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We are all so excited for them. That's actually the mission that they put in for but later found out that it had already been filled.....so it was a wonderful surprise!

Lagoon trip

We went to Lagoon last Friday with some of the Wilson Family.....we were missing Lynnette's fam, Dawna's fam, and Loye's fam. We had so much fun! My two favorite rides are Wicked and Rattle Snake Rapids. And I love to get family pictures and eat ice cream cones from the pioneer village. When we got this pic taken the photographer asked us what props we wanted. She asked my mother-in-law last. Linda thought for a second then said "Oh, give me the wisky!" The grandkids that were watching had shocked and surprised looks on their faces. Some of them even gasped. It was so funny.

Today is Brian's 20th Birthday. We celebrated last night so we could send his Birthday Party Pic to him for his P-day today.

Chanae and Bryce's Wedding.......it's been 2 months already?

I'm such a slacker. I have been meaning to do a decent post about my only daughter's wedding besides just posting a few pics. But every time I tried to do it I just could not put my feelings into words.

The whole day was wonderful....thanks to so many family and friends that helped us pull it off. First thing that morning Chanae's new sister-in-law Lori styled Chanae's hair and did an awesome job. Then we headed for the Temple where they were married by President Metcalf. Who by the way had lots, and lots, and lots, ....and lots of good advice. It's always nice to hear it again. Afterwards family and friends gathered around outside waiting for the Bride and Groom to exit the temple. Then we all headed over for the usual pics to be taken on the steps followed by some family shots, and then we left the bride and groom in the capable hands of the photographer so we could rush home to eat and get the reception/party area ready.

The Wedding Celebration took place at the new home of Troy and Lydia Nelson in their back yard. It was such a beautiful place to have our family and friends gather around us to help us celebrate a once in a life time event. The food was great, the music was great, the company was great! Unfortunately I really didn't get a chance to see everyone that came. I should have stayed close to the cake so I could greet our guest. But I was on occassion busy making a fool of myself dancing. And I'm not talking about the time I danced with my husband or son. :)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU....to everyone who helped to make our daughter's wedding day such a success. And thanks to everyone who came to support us and celebrate with us.

One more thing....We have a GREAT son-in-law!

Canada Trip

Well, I finally left the Country with my brand new Pass Port!! And what an adventure it was! I went to Montreal with Brent to pick up a new airplane. He has a way cool job right now. He gets to test fly the new airplanes right from the ardier factory and then fly them to Salt Lake City. We left on a Sunday morning to go to Atlanta and then to Montreal. But when we landed in Atlanta we saw that the flight to Montreal was canceled. So after a couple of hours of phone calls and searching the flight schedule we found a flight that we could get on going to Toronto. So we took that flight and unfortunately landed there without our luggage. We also found out that it was a 6 hour drive to Montreal and Brent had to be there Monday morning for the test flight. Needless to say we made it in 4 hours. :) We visited the Temple grounds on Tuesday, mainly because we needed to go shopping at the distribution center....since we still did not have our luggage. And we did a lot of shopping at the Mall and the store.....for clothes and make-up, and hair products. Yeah....this trip cost us a lot more than we had planned for...but we had a great time. Oh and one of the funniest things was that during our shopping sprees we would have people helping us who only spoke Frecnh. So not everyone could speak French and English. Well, we finally got our bags late Wednesday night. On Thursday I got a tour of the ardier Factory. So I got to see how airplanes are made. I also got in trouble because I took a quick pic with my phone camera of one of the airplanes.....nobody told me I couldn't take a pic. But I deleted it. I was going to get a pic of Brent in front of the new airplane before we left....but I forgot. :( On Friday morning we boarded the New CRJ and headed for SLC, Utah. I had the privilege of sitting in the jump seat for take-off and landing.

Wedding Bells are Ringing!

Only 2 full days left until the Blessed Event. And I really don't have time for this post, but I am doing it while I eat breakfast. I can't believe that the day has come for my daughter to get married. Oh where did the time go? I have been thinking about all of our "lasts". Like on Sunday we had our last Sunday Dinner here at home. (while she is still single). Then my sister-in-law let me read a book called Let Me Hold You Longer by Karen Kingsbury. That's a must read for any Mom. Especially while your kids are still young. Anyway, we are getting ready for the big day, and are way excited to see everyone at the Celebration Friday evening.

FOREIGNER CONCERT!

So here we are all bundled up waiting for the concert to start. It was a TOTALLY AWESOME CONCERT! Or should I say "IT WAS A SICK CONCERT!" (Michael and Dallin despise it when I talk with "their" slang words.) We dragged Michael and Dallin along and we all had a great time. They played the longest version of Juke Box Hero ever. It was great! (the pics are not that great, they are from my phone)

Bottled Potatoes Anyone?

This project is what took up most of our Easter Weekend. We bottled 56 Quarts of potatoes Friday night and all day Saturday, with about a 3 hour break for an Easter BBQ and card playing with the Wilson family. And I must admit that Brent did most of the work. We also worked on organizing our food room while the potatoes where in the pressure cooker. Unfortunately that project is not quite done yet, but should be soon.

Easter Eggs

Saturday night we colored Easters Eggs the old fashioned way. Actually that is the only way I have ever colored Easter Eggs. First you dig up red roots in Santa Clara at the bottom of grave yard hill. Then you mash them up in side a bag with a hammer. Now you put the roots in an old pot, add water and boil so the water is a dark red. Then you collected flowers, grass, and weeds to lay all over your kitchen table. The next part is tricky and takes great skill that has been acquired from YEARS of practice. (Grandpa Gubler is the best egg wrapper that ever lived.) What ya do is you wrap the flower, grass, weeds, etc. around the egg with string. Then you place it in warm water for a bit before putting into the hot red root water. Boil about 10 minutes and whula......you have a pioneer Easter Egg. Unfortunately the pics are not doing them justice.

Brian's 6 months

Brian's 6 month mark has already come and gone on March 16, 2009. I can't believe it. It has been a wonderful experience for our family thus far to have Brian out serving the Lord in Brazil. Brian is working really hard. He now has a Brazilian Companion which he is way excited about. He says that the language is getting better for him.

Our family has been so blessed.

Thoughts of Selling the boat

With a wedding coming up and a missionary in Brazil we decided that selling the boat might be a good thing. Although our partner didn't want to sell it unless we got the right price. Well anyway, the boys cleaned it up and got it ready to show. They spent a little bit of time CRYING over it. We even sent the crying pics to Brian so he could see the SAD news for himself. But at last.....we've decided NOT TO SELL!! :) (can't get the price) So we are all looking forward to going to the lake soon.

Crazy Week!

Monday: Wedding Dress Shopping with Chanae (no luck). Critique Band Practice. Load all Instruments into two vehicles. Drive to Enterprise (get there 45 min earlier than needed). Sit around for 2 1/2 hours waiting for Battle of the Bands to start. Listen to 5 bands (including a SCREAM O band that was TERRIBLE) and other entertainment for almost 3 hours and wait FOREVER for the judges outcome. Scrape 2 inches of snow off of two vehicles while being snowed on (by myself). Help Load all Instruments again. Leave for St. George in snow storm with Michael driving behind me (scary). Get stuck on road. Go back to Enterprise. Wait at Stan and Charlene Staheli's home. Brent comes up in Jeep and we follow him toward home (Bryce now driving Chanae's car instead of Michael) leaving at 11:15 pm. Roads are slippery-Slide off road and get really really stuck(in my convertible) shortly after passing Central. Work for 45 min to get car out. Leave car and pile in Jeep and get home at 1:00 am. Get in bed after 2:00 am.

Tuesday: Brent stays home from work to get car unstuck and cleans it for me (what a sweetheart) After work clean house for company thats coming on Wednesday. Last minute decide to go shopping for a new bed. Make hard decision on big ticket items in very little time (new KING sized bed and bedding, something you want to take time to do). Go home and help prepare Dallin's room (pigstye) jk;) for my old bed (Dallin's been sleeping on a camping cot) and prepare Michael's room for our company (this took all night)

Wednesday: After work shop with Chanae for Wedding Dress and find a beautiful one. More cleaning before company comes. Go to dinner with company to Olive Garden :) play games and eat brownies. Blvd Furniture delivers my bed at 8:45 pm hurray! Watch stupid Mash. Go to bed very late.

Thursday: After work do Jane's Hair and talk wedding plans. work on taxes. :(

Friday: Purchase Wedding Dress and Accessories. Go shopping for a few more King size bed necessities. work on stupid taxes. Drop into bed really tired.

Saturday: Do hair appts. from 10-12. Lunch at Paula with Brent. Watch boys Basketball game, work on STUPID taxes from 5-10. Pick up Dallin from dance at 11:15. Shop at Lins! OK I AM D EAD TIRED!!! Brent says it's a good thing that it's Mormon Holiday tomorrow (Stake Conference)

Battle of the Bands

Michael and Dallin have been preparing for Battle of the Bands. Yes, they have a Band. Anyway, they will be competing in Battle of the Bands at Tuacahn High School on Feb 12. If they win that competition they go to the Region competition. They will be playing a song that they wrote called, ‘You Mean the World to Me’ and another really cool song from the 80's called, ‘Just What I Needed’ by the Cars. I’m sure that the round about people have heard them practicing recently, since one of the band members has a really BIG amp. Sorry!

I WON, I WON, I WON!!!

It's not a major award. And it's not fragile! It's a $40 gift card to Walmart! How did I win....you might ask. Well I signed up for the Fitness Challenge with the school district. It goes for 8 weeks and you have to log your workout minutes everyday. If you do that then your name goes into a weekly drawing. And I won for the first week. HURRAY!

And now the Wilson family is starting a Fitness Challenge that will go for 5 1/2 months. We can be a pretty competitive family sometimes. So here's how it's all going down!!

Big “W” Fitness Challenge
Summer is soon approaching and there has been an overwhelming request to have another fitness challenge to get our tushes back into shape. So we have been throwing some ideas around and we will begin the second week of February. That means you all have a few more days to pig out before the fun begins. The challenge will continue until the Wilson reunion so you have a good 5 1/2 months to buckle down, don't procrastinate.

Here are the rules for the challenge:
1. Children under 18 years of age will be required to count the time they spend exercising. Please turn your time in to Jackie and Deron by Sunday at midnight so we can talley as we go.
2. A dults (because of some over achievers Deron, Loye, and Ryan) we will have to set goals for ourselves instead of going by time. The goal should be a stretch for you, not something you could do if you just got up off the couch. Please write these down on paper and send them to Deron and Jackie by February 8th. Goals can include inches lost, weight lost, miles ridden/walked etc.
3. We will also be asking for each person that enters to pay 10 dollars for the entry fee that will go toward the prizes at the end. Make payable to Deron and Jackie. You will have until June 1 to turn in the money so start saving. If you have any problems with this amount please let Jackie know we will work something out, we want everyone who wants to, to participate!

Throughout this process we want everyone to support each other whether it be a text a note or a phone call of encouragement. I am going to do a bootcamp one day a week if anyone is interested. The time has yet to be determined. I will also try to send the work out ideas to those of you who are out of town. If anyone comes across any healthy recipe ideas or meal plans please submit them to the Big W. O and if you need help setting a goal talk to Deron and Jackie and we will try to help. WICKED!!

For our 23 year Anniversary Brent surprised me with WICKED TICKETS!
It was so AWESOME! We had great seats in the orchestra pit. It was such an amazing show. I'm so glad that I didn't miss out on seeing it at the Pantages Theatre. We flew to L.A. Thursday morning and goofed off then went to Wicked that night. We flew home Friday afternoon. It was a great weekend get away.
