Day 2

Today we went to Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea and experienced so many neat things. It really is hard to tell about our day. I will try and pick out some highlights.

To start the day, I need to write about getting to the expo. We left our little motel and headed towards the expo; the plan was to park at a park 'n ride and take a bus to the expo. The parking seemed too far from the expo so Andrew kept driving, then it was too late so we thought we would just park in a lot at the site. That didn't pan out either and we ended up on a street and just parked our car there (it is a very Korean thing to just park your car whereever, there were lots of cars parked on the side of the street also). By the end of the day when hoards of people were coming out of the expo, we second guessed our parking but it ended up getting us back to the hotel rather quickly.

Elanor's favorite part was a picture taking machine that took your picture then placed it on a huge digital screen above you that depicted the ocean.

My favorite section was where we saw past water transportation and then the future of water transportation and living. They had a life size sunken ship that we could climb around. There were also barrels of spices and plates/cups to show us how things were transported.

The future was pretty cool. One ship that we didn't get a good picture of was a submarine/houseboat that could change and be used in so many ways it was neat. This picture is of an underwater city with each villa in its own bubble.

The expo had a huge international pavilion where different countries of the world could put on their own display. The picture below is from Peru's pavilion.

There was so much other stuff we did but this was a taste of our very long day. 

Day 1: Travel day

Hooray! It is travel day, time to go go go. The goal was to be able to see through the back window, we wanted Andrew to be able to see all the crazy drivers of Korea.

The girls were fantastic on our trip. Sophie and Elanor kept themselves occupied with books, coloring/drawing, more books, paper dolls, snacks, books and more snacks. Charlotte was entertained by Aunt Beckie. She was prepared with books, stuffed animals and lots of snacks for Charlotte. Andrew was our wonderful chauffeur and I was the navigator. The drive down was smooth sailing, just a little traffic jam for a few minutes was all we encountered. Andrew had poured over maps and new where we were going. On our way out of town I asked if we were going another way and we pulled off to show him the route I thought we should take from my phone. Andrew had looked at 3 year old maps and sure enough there was a new road that would save us some time. This new road was pretty cool, it took us fairly straight south through many mountains. We never counted but we must have gone through 30 tunnels. They kind of started to get old after a while. And some were farily long. But we made it safely to our motel and settled in for the night.

Hi...it's me. Did you miss me?

Well, shame on me for waiting 3 months to make my next post. The worst thing about having so much time lag between posts is that life goes on and there is so much to post about that gets forgotten. We've had a busy 3 months and hopefully now that monsoon season has kicked into gear I will find time to catch up (because we will be inside most of the day).

We had our first visitor to Korea back in May, Corrie stayed for 2 weeks and we had a fun time with her. And right now we are enjoying the last few days of my sister Beckie's 4 week visit. We've done lots of fun things and even took her to see the ocean from all 3 sides of the peninsula.
Here is just a start of the pictures we took. Stay tuned, I promise it will be an excited ride and it won't be another 3 months between posts again.
