Pennsylvania

While the family was visiting we made a trek up to PA to check out familiar places and eats. Along our journey northward we stopped off in Gettysburg, my niece Bri is learning about the Civil War in school so we made some stops for her. There is a CD that can be purchased at the gift store that goes along the battle line. There are stops to take and learn more about the Civil War and see all the monuments around the battle fields.

We stayed with some family friends, thanks Randi, Larry and Kids, and visited some important Pennsylvania landmarks. Hershey. Fun was had by all and Bri couldn't believe all the chocolate goodness found in Chocolate World's gift shop. We also had to eat lunch and dinner at our favorite PA restaurants, Isaacs and BangKok Wok(thai food). So good.
On Sunday we had fun going to our old Ward (church congregation) and seeing lots of familiar faces.

Sites around DC

We took my family to the National Zoo one day. I think we wore ourselves out but had a lot of fun. We ate lunch while watching the sea lions swim and played in a pizza garden.

Leapfrog decoration for Halloween

One day I took Bri into Washington DC and we walked around all the monuments. We walked starting at the Washington Monument all the way to Lincoln Memorial, seeing WWII, Vietnam and Korean Memorials along the way. We met up with Andrew and continued or walk along the Tidal Basin to the FDR Memorial and Jefferson, ending up back at the Smithsonian Metro Stop where we started. It was a fun day.

Chincoteague and Assateague Islands

Our first stop was Chincoteague and Assateague Islands (VA side). This is my family's favorite beach. Hotels, food and shops are found on Chincoteague and Assateague is a National Seashore (no boardwalks). Assateague is also famous for its wild ponies.

We lucked out in getting nice weather in mid-October, mid 70s and sunny. Our first day at the beach was so much fun. Sophie and Elanor had a blast playing in the water and the sand. Someone constantly had to keep a hand on Elanor or she would be off into the water. Sophie had a lot of fun playing in the sand, water and flying her kite.

My parents came to visit us for 10 days and we packed those days full of fun adventures. We started off going to the beach for 4 days, then back to our house to pick up my oldest niece from the airport. Locally we visited the National Zoo and toured the Mall. We all took a drive up to PA for 3 days to visit Gettysburg, Civil War Museum of Harrisburg, Hershey and friends. I will slowly post about our adventures. We put about 900 miles on a rental van.

Let the visits begin

Three weeks ago we started a whirlwind of family visits. First to stop by and check out our digs was Aunt Becky (not to be confused with Aunt Beckie). Andrew's sister came out this way for a quick stop to see the growing munchkins and to attempt a much needed rest from the photography business (Bagdanoffphoto). She took some updated family pictures while she was here but we will have to wait and see her gorgeous work, for now you have to look at my photography and a picture of a gallery wrap that is one of Becky's prints.
