Fall Leaves

Last year, Kimball begged me to rake a pile of leaves for him to jump in, so I did it while he was at school to surprise him. When he got home, his face fell because my pile wasn't big enough! He refused to jump in the leaves for the rest of the season.

This year, he declared it was time to rake, even though 70% of the leaves were still on the trees. After raking the whole front yard we finally had a pile big enough to enjoy and the boys played for ages!

Pumpkin Patch

Recently, Groupon had a great deal for a local pumpkin patch, so while my mom was here, we drove out with K & C. It was 85 some odd degrees and very sunny, plus the boys were totally off of their sleep schedule (aka cranky, sleepy, grumpy, etc, etc). BUT we still had a fun time!


 I was very impressed by this pumpkin patch. They had a huge slide structure with hay bales and C, being the smallest kid, kept climbing his way up there and pushing through all the kids there on field trips.

 

There was a hay ride with small portions of hay sprinkled over the bed of a trailer.

And of course a corn maze.

C keeps taking the pumpkins off our front porch and chucking them down the driveway, effectively driving me nuts, but hopefully we'll get them carved soon and he'll leave them alone :).

My mom has since gone and C still asks "err gama?" I'm so grateful that my kids have grandparents close by!

Over the River and Through the Woods

So, my mom came up to Provo for the weekend and we loved having her here! She surprised us earlier this week with a phone call asking if it would be ok if she visited. Mom arrived here Friday afternoon and left Sunday night.
Kimball absolutely loved the attention she gave him, and I think he might have actually tried to say "Grandma" a few times. The first thing Grandma and Kimball did was play in the leaves outside and Kimball just kept using the sign for "more" as Grandma would bring him huge handfuls of leaves for him to throw.
My mom was amazing and did a bunch of dishes for me which was a huge lifesaver since our sink is now backed up and would have made all of those dishes nasty. Now we just have a gradually growing pile of dishes until our sink can get fixed :( She also changed tons of dirty diapers!
