Welcome to CrimeBusters!
This is the hangout/ooc community for the RP founded by
gila_flats, missjuspeczyk, and king_iskander. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions or anything random in particular you’d like to say to the group, this is the place to do it!
A bit about our RP:
This RP is meant to take place in a happy combination of graphic novel and film events, and it deals with simultaneous timelines. This means, many thanks to Jon’s wonderful abilities, that players can RP through any time period before, during or after canon. A more in depth explanation of this concept can be found here .
As for pairings, we’re all very open-minded, and just as friendly to slash as we are to het. It’s also fine if you don’t want to ship at all. Everyone’s welcome to do as they please as long as they respect the source material and the wonderful characters it holds.
The Rules
{{for a more in-depth explanation of some of these rules, please see
this post, & FAQs can be found here!}}
1) Auditions will be held for all characters. Specific entries will be made for each character for people to audition, with a prompt specific to that character that has been chosen by the mods. Comments for these posts will be screened, so that no copying or anything can happen. From the first audition posted, there will be a period of roughly 48 hours for others to audition. This period of time is pending real life interference with the mods and the quality of auditions posted, but consider it a guideline for auditioning. The mods will do their very best to be unbiased and fair to all. We also ask that all who audition have a good grasp of the graphic novel; fans of the movie alone need not apply.
The main post for auditions can be found here. Links to individual prompts for each character can be found there as they are created.
2) When it doubt, check with the mods. We want a certain level of sincerity and quality here, and we really stress that you remain true to the characters and their personalities. No crack pairings or anything like that. This doesn’t mean that fun and lulz aren’t allowed – we just want the serious stuff to stay serious, and the joking things (like Bubastis’ journal, or Adrian's interns) to stay as jokes. If you have any questions or concerns about an idea, please ask the comm. or contact one of the mods.
3) Pairings should be done with permission. If you want to do a pairing with someone, please talk to them about it first. This is a given, but I suppose it’s necessary to mention. Make sure you’re both on the same page about how you want things to play out, as we want as little drama or confusion as possible here.
4) No one comes back from the dead. Nonlinear timelines allow for canonically deceased characters to be played just as easily as living ones; there is no reason for anyone to be brought back, particularly not by Jon’s doing. No, we don’t care if Dan is lonely without Rorschach or Sally wishes Eddie were alive. Please be reasonable.
5) Tags and titles. While it’s up to each individual player how to organize their own journal, when posting on the general community please keep things tagged. It makes it easier for everyone to keep track of things. Also, on your own journal, please put the intended date in the title. For example, if you’re posting about Adrian dropping psychic cephalopods on the major cities of the world, please put “November 1st, 1985” in the title of your post. When in doubt about when something happened, ask someone or check here.
Rules will be added as new issues come up! Please keep in mind we’re all rather new at this, and we’re doing our best to work the kinks out of everything.
