Game was made by one man. I think the 3d model and the art were made at different times, and when developer was putting it all together into a full game, it was either too late to change it or he didn't want to.
I agree, I noticed this when I first started xD

Think of it like, Art = After Summer Vacation/Sun Tan and In-game 3D Model = Her Regular Skin Tone.

It is still confusing since when her art pops up (in the image in the OP) she's tan but her model is white. If the tan skin tone only showed in her memories, I think it would make more sense (kinda like the memory is a summer one or so)

the problem is that when you use the phone in the game the silhouette is still the tan vercion, so wtf is going there XD

I have no clue :cmh_whoareyou: only the Devs know why it is the way it is. I wonder if, she's really tan but made to look white in-game so we don't feel like we're playing as a tanned character?

You can think of so many things... only the Dev knows.
I'm 100 percent sure the developer was rushed to release it, which is why they clearly weren't able to keep up. Like, look at the game. It's clearly unfinished.
"clearly unfinished" ?? what the hell are you talking about ?
game is amazing from start to finish, what were you expected from ONE PERSON ??? this ain't a AAA game !

Did I ever say anything bad about the game or the developer? My comment was likely misinterpreted because I’m using an auto-translator, but let me clarify my position (using a translator again). I’m not trying to diminish the developer's hard work; I’m just saying that (in my opinion) they were clearly rushed by the publisher, which is why many game mechanics weren't finished in time. Besides, I'm looking forward to new updates myself and hope the developer doesn't give up on their project!
I'd like to suggest updated conversation sprites to fit with the current look of the characters (like when she's wearing her collar, horns, "corrupted" characters from the past et.c.) to make it easier to keep track of when the dialogue takes place since it jumps back and forth in time every now and then. Having the sprites that match their current appearance during dialogue would really help keeping track of things and make it more immersive overall.
I think a patch could take care of these inconsistencies.
They're insignificant for some, but for others: immersion breaking.
I want to buy this game but I've seen talks about this problem in other forums and came here to check.

Hopefully devs take care of this soon so the game is as polished as it can be and doesn't make people hesitate to buy it, doubting its overall quality.
That's a bit of an overreaction isn't it? We're talking about game sprites, I really don't think most people think that's what makes it a good game.
Honestly that never at all occurred to or bothered me while playing. Notably, it is a thing in other games too, like the older Final Fantasy characters look entirely different in the rendered and in-engine cutscenes - or in Disco Elysium there's significantly discrepancy between the character portraits and their 3D models... So well I guess just a remnant of the design process? Not that it matters much but I always imagined Polly as pale since the place is very eastern european and gloomy and such...

is not about being good or bad is about consistency, what this tell me, about these devs? they just not care about their owm MC, when they cant even address something like that, and is not something minor either, Tanned Polly is not only in the 2D art, she is also in the in game menu when you open the phone and in the desktop icon of the damn game.

so wth? I just cant not notice it now, and just took me out of the whole thing.
