The Quest Board is an untapped goldmine. Here's how to make it permanent and engaging (Lessons from the Community Weekend).
Ahoy, fellow pirates and Rare devs!

With the recent Community Weekend event (burying kegs and high-value treasures for the hats and the pumpkin emote), I’ve seen more activity on the Quest Boards than ever before. It was a brilliant event, and it proved one thing: players WILL use the burying mechanic if the rewards are worth it.

However, let’s be honest: once the event is over, the Quest Boards on outposts go back to being a graveyard of AI-generated maps leading to 300-gold rusty cups. For a game that emphasizes player interaction, the Quest Board is currently an untapped goldmine.

I believe we can turn the Quest Board from a "noob tutorial feature" into a thriving, permanent player-driven economy.

Here is a concept I'd like to call "The Benefactor's Path". Feel free to add your thoughts!

🏆 1. Real Incentives: Rewards for the Donor
Burying a treasure should be a profitable choice.

The "Blessing" Buff: If someone digs up and sells the treasure you buried, you receive a buff for your next session. For example: +5% to Gold and Reputation earned.

Value matters: The more expensive the buried item (like a Chest of Legends or a Chest of Fortune), the higher the buff.

Weekly Challenges: To keep players engaged, add weekly tasks. Bury 10 Skulls -> +3% Reputation to Order of Souls next session. Bury 10 Merchant Crates -> +3% to Merchant Alliance. These reset weekly.

🗺️ 2. Map Rarity & The "Bounty" System
Right now, all maps look the same. Let’s add a color-coded rarity system so players know what they are getting into:

Grey: Regular loot.

Blue: Rare loot (Skulls, Chests).

Purple: Epic loot.

Gold: Chest of Legends / Chest of Fortune.

The Bounty System: Let the player who buried the loot attach their own gold to the map as a tip! If I bury a Chest of Fortune and add 20,000 gold from my pocket, every crew on the server will race to dig it up. It creates instant, high-stakes PvE chaos.

👑 3. Leaderboards & Cosmetics
Give the true philanthropists a reason to brag!

Monthly Leaderboard: A "Top 100 Benefactors" board. The players who bury the most valuable loot each month receive Ancient Coins, exclusive titles, and rare cosmetics.

Exclusive Cosmetic Set (e.g., "The Miser's Fortune" or "The Benefactor"): A full set of ship cosmetics, clothing, and weapons (gold and black theme with maps/chest motifs) that unlock only by reaching specific milestones (e.g., "Have your buried loot dug up 50 times").

Titles: Add fun titles like "The Altruist", "Grave Robber's Best Friend", or "The Generous Pirate".

⚓ 4. Guild Integration
If I bury loot representing my Guild, it should give Guild Reputation. This encourages Guilds to work together, bury huge stashes of loot, and compete against other Guilds on the server.

TL;DR: The recent Community Weekend proved that burying loot is fun and players want to do it. Please don't let this feature die. Give us buffs for the next session, let us create our own bounties, add rarity to maps, and give us an exclusive cosmetic set. Make the Quest Board alive!

What do you guys think? Would you use the Quest Board if it gave you next-session buffs? Let's make some noise so Rare sees this!

Fair winds and sturdy kegs. 🏴‍☠️
