You're looking at the smallest piece of the puzzle.

Steam is just one storefront. Sea of Thieves is a cross-platform game that lives on Xbox, Microsoft Store, and PlayStation.

Right now, Steam has about 4-5k concurrent players. That's less than 5% of the total player base. Most people play through Game Pass or on console. Daily active players across all platforms are estimated at 300,000+.

So no, the game isn't dead. You're just looking at the wrong number. The sea is still full of pirates - they're just not all sailing through Steam.

I have to disagree, man.

I run into plenty of ships every single time I play. And you're definitely wrong about the mics. People absolutely use them. I know this because I hear them screaming the most creative insults at me in perfect clarity when I sink their ship and steal their loot.

The game isn't dead. It's just that happy, friendly pirates usually don't scream into their mics. The toxic ones definitely do. Maybe you just need to go sink a few ships and you'll hear plenty of voices!

You are both saying the same thing.

True. Two different approaches, same conclusion. The game is far from dead. Maybe we should start an alliance to sink all the "game is dead" posts. 🏴‍☠️
Yeah, you can blame toxic players for that, on both sides. People cussing and being toxic towards players they attack, and the ones being attacked being toxic to the ones who attack them, so a lot of players have withdrawn from using both mic and text to avoid that. It's the consequences that come with making Sea of Thieves PvPvE only, instead of having 2 separate modes that would cater to both sides, which Rare is also to blame for, for still not addressing it, but it is what it is, I guess.

Personally, I'm happy to have my mic and text turned off in settings. Just got too tired of running into toxic players who kept harrassing me via text and mic (like, I'm talking really bad stuff, like cussing, sexist remarks, mocking, etc.).

people putting themselves outthere and surprised when the response isn't happy rainbow unicorn.
Pain is how that bubble eventually dissolves.
As for "just toxic players" - haven't run into any meanies in the last 5 months. So maybe you just attract it.
Game is stupid dead. Unplayable for whatever reason.

Idk I had 4 brigs and a galleon at once yesterday lol
Since they disabled diving, servers have never been more alive ^^
game don't protect against grief so player are just leaving in mass
If you want to see more players, make your way to whatever the active World Event is (look in the sky for green or red clouds, red swirls) or raise the Reaper flag, get it to level 5 Emissary and you can see all other ships if they have any emissary flag of any level raised on your ship map. There are 4-5 other ships on the server with you.

there's 100% reward for avoiding other players and even more reward in avoiding any voice interaction with players. this community is basically rust-tier degenerates, lol.

I meant that 4.500 is still a good playercount like thats still pretty good still better than Halo Infinte's like 1000-2000 playercount I wasn't sayinmg that number like it was a low number that is a good number a dead game would have like 0 players or like 9 players like z1 battle royale

Je reviendrais que le jeu sera mort pour vérifier s'il est mort.
