7th-Jun-2006 05:28 pm - Come visit pdx_mommies!
Rainy Day
Hey ladies and gents!

Summertime is here and with it comes lots of fun activities to do!

I'll be organizing a PDX_Mommies outing once a week to different places around Portland. After some consideration, here are some things to vote on!

DAY: Tuesday or Thursday?

TIME: Mornings or Afternoons?

Please comment below with your vote, and a few ideas of what you'd like to do. I will choose a place each week, and we'll alternate free and for-cost field trips. For most field trips, we will have a craft time as well, so that kids young and old can take something home with them!

Please cast your vote by Thursday evening of this week, so that I can have the Field Trip up by Friday morning for those of you mommies that like to plan. I will try to plan two weeks out at a time.

More info later!!
7th-Jun-2006 11:16 am - top 5?
My kids get out of school soon and I am vowing to make this a fun summer instead of getting in a rut and all of us getting on each others nerves.
What are your top 5 fun (cheap, free) places to go with kids (ages 7, 6, and 3).
I am trying to plan a "field trip" for every thursday.

Thanks,
Joycelyn

I have a dilemma. Last week my 9 year old daughter was assaulted at school by a little boy without provocation. He got mad and punched her in the face. She had bruises and scratches above and below her eye. This little boy is in her class. He was suspended for a day or two while the school investigated the assult, and has returned to class. My dilemma is that I do not want my daughter around this kid. What if he had done permanent physical damage to her vision? What if he does it again? I dont feel like the school has taken adequate steps to ensure the safety of my daughter, and when my husband called the principal and tole her this, she told him he was being "uncivil" (he wasnt, I was sitting right here listening to the conversation) and has hung up on him TWICE(he called back a few hours later to see if she would discuss it further) today. All she did was threaten to call the truancy officer. We suggested that the boy be moved to a different class, and she said she cant do that, but maybe she can move my daughter. I dont feel that is fair. So what do I do? I cant have my daughter in an environment where she feels physically threatened, so I cant send her back to school until this is resolved. Advice please?
