数式ミステリー➄『数学者のメモ』Page3

We define a new number ii,  called the imaginary unit,  by i2=−1i^2 = -1.
In this text, we decide to write i=−1i=\sqrt{-1}.

    Then

    −1=i2=−1⋅−1=(−1)⋅(−1)=1=1-1=i^2=\sqrt{-1}\cdot\sqrt{-1}=\sqrt{(-1)\cdot(-1)}=\sqrt{1}=1

    Wait…  what?

    -1=1

    Strange, strange, strange.
    This is wrong.

-1 and 1 cannot be the same.
But look, it is proved in this paper!

Oh God, this is a big discovery!!!
    -1 and 1 are equal!
I have made a great discovery!!!!!
