Are they smoking crack!
The republican Senate voted to extrend the debt to a record breaking $9,000,000,000,000 that will take 30 to 40 years to pay off so we can enjoy our Bush tax breaks now and fund the war in Iraq! ALso the department of Treasury for the first time hinstory is defaulting to creditors to pay for our spending and putting our future on credit. Good lord our government is going to go broke. Why are they doing this? At this rate we maybe paying a %60 tax with no governmental services at all (see if the american people will buy it?) to pay this off as we become a terrority of China and the Saudi's who are buying our government bonds. have your high schooler (or yourself) "opted-out"
This is copied from a recent email I received from Music For America: What is Opt-Out About? You've seen the flyer at our shows, and right now we're about to do a big push (see below) on the issue of the military Opt-Out for high school students. It's the way you keep recruiters from getting your personal contact info from your school. See, Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Act says high schools have to turn their students' contact info over to The Pentagon, except for the kids who fill out a form asking to be left out. A lot of people don't even know the form exists, so that's why we made our own. If you're not in high school, you can help fight this invasion of privacy by signing this petition to end it. If you are in high school, there's a lot more you can do. Seeee below... Take it to Your SchoolHigh schoolers: MFA needs you for a quick and dirty military Opt-Out campaign. Your school will be selling you out to the military recruiters sometime in October. But it's easy to protect yourself and your classmates by distributing the Opt-Out form. Get a stack, plus our new antiwar t-shirt, and other good stuff, mailed to you at school by contacting jessica@musicforamerica.org. You can also download the form (English or Spanish) here. Hey, if you're not in high school anymore, will you tell someone who is? --------- Thanks guys! Amy Current Mood: outraged | | Tuesday, August 9th, 2005 | 4:39 pm [sinistertim101]

Katherine Harris is running for senate Katherine Harris is running for senate in Florida, in an effort to unseat our last remaining democratic senator! I think most of you remember how she cheated Gore out of office and tipped the election for Bush in 2000. Election officials have personally seen her throwing tens of thousands of ballots away from democratic counties. Time for us liberals to get off our fat asses and support Nelson. Good god this woman should be in jail! This would be quite a humiliation if she won and was my representative for my beliefs in Washington | | Monday, March 7th, 2005 | 12:35 pm [sinistertim101]

full day's wage for a full day's work
I do not know about the rest of you, but I pay for part of my education and despite the ever increasing costs for a higher education, minimium wage has not increased since 1997, the longest since 1949. Senator Kennedy is proposing a bill that would increase the minimium wage to 7.25/hr so we all can afford a basic education college education and help those with highschool diploma's put food on the table. http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/03/05/minimum.wage.ap/index.htmlThe minimium wage law has not been updated since 1997 and minimum wage is still $5.15/hr which is unlivable in today's market. If you do the math 5.15/hr is less than $10,000 a year before taxes and is $5,000 below the poverty line. Housing costs during the same time have rison over %50 in some area's of the country as well as grocery and gas prices. Please contact your local senator and local congressmen and tell them what you think about this bill. The lobbiests from the restuarant and other industries are lobbying hard to keep the wages rock bottom so the CEO's can have larger bonuses. Its time we make our voices heard. Remember even if you get paid more than minimium wage, the extra money will trickle back and reduce crime. More money to people equals a better economy and more opportunity. | | Friday, January 7th, 2005 | 11:49 am [sirinek]

Good god.
DNC chairman may keep his job. Nothing like selecting a proven winner when the country rejected the whole democrated platform because they had no idea what it even stood for. I hate republicans with a passion and I am losing faith in my own party but really what choice do I have? This man has to go and if 2008 is another republican victory I just wont know what to do. Its astounding how Bush even won. | 12:32 pm [phluffhed]

Facts about the 2004 election
20 Amazing Facts About Voting in the USA 1. 80% of all votes in America are counted by only two companies: Diebold and ES&S. http://www.onlinejournal.com/evoting/042804Landes/042804landes.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diebold2. HA! HA! HA! Not that it's going to make a difference, but...I emailed tons of people for this. I'm talking senators, governors, congressmen, election officials, constituents. And I know my sucky little emails didn't do anything, but still I say HA! Thank you to the other ton's of people who did the same thing. I know the shrub is in office and I know it's going to stay that way, but now at least there will be a recount. And again....HA! www.michaelmoore.com X-posted Current Mood: ecstatic | | Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 | 9:33 pm [rioduran]

I know it is interesting to thing who will run in 2008. Let's first concentrate on the fact that the Bush Cabinet is totally falling apart in the past few days. I mean how amazing is that! It is making me really happy to see this. Because, it really shows me how happy I am with it! Yeah no more Bush and Dick | | Saturday, November 13th, 2004 | 4:58 pm [thecomedian]

Evan Bayh
Here is a link for the new Evan Bayh in 2008 yahoo group. It's as grassroots as it gets. The link is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/evanbayhin2008/. Of any candidates that may run in 2008, I believe that Sen. Bayh is the most electable. He chairs the DLC and has won a red state for 5 terms now, and many of those terms, he was elected by a large margin. I also have set up a new EB08 community: evanbayh2008. While we may have 60 members so far on the yahoo group, this is the beginning of something big. I know Deaniacs that are backing Senator Evan Bayh in 2008. I myself am all for Bayh in 2008 now that I have seen the light. Thank you for your time. | | Friday, November 12th, 2004 | 9:16 am [uber_boob]

Just call Cafe Milano "Cafe Standing-O." John Kerry made quite an entrance when he breezed through the G-town hot spot Wednesday eve to meet pals, campaign adviser Richard Holbrooke and Jim Johnson. As he strolled through the main room, many of those seated at tables stood and cheered, we're told. Though the tall senator didn't stay long -- in and out in 30 minutes or so -- he was certainly the golden boy of the night (complete with his "lucky" golden barn jacket) shaking everyone's hand and taking pictures. The Dem superstar barely missed an actual superstar, actress Sandra Bullock, who was enjoying the sleek atmosphere with her motorcycle man, Jesse James. Earlier this week, Veep Cheney was spotted there, too, proving that D.C. may be Democratic, but Milano, as always, is bipartisan. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A44066-2004Nov11.htmlI live 40 minutes from Georgetown. My favorite restaurant is Cafe Milano. I could have been there and said hi. America is NOT ready for a female president, this is why: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6463987/site/newsweek/President Hillary? We’re not even ready for a First Lady who deviates from the script—or, heaven forfend, has a little bit of a mouth on her. What we minded is that she knows her mind—and speaks it in all those languages, the show-off! We deemed her too exotic. And, Calvinists that we are, decided that she clearly has too much money and possibly, too much fun. | | Thursday, November 11th, 2004 | 8:48 am [uber_boob]

Kerry returns to Hill, Dems ponder strategy Seeking key role, senator confers with Reid, Pelosi Top Hill Democrats huddled yesterday to try to devise a strategy to combat President Bush’s agenda despite their weakened ranks in Congress. “Fifty-four-plus million Americans voted for healthcare,” Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said yesterday in his first visit to the Hill since losing the presidential race. “They voted for energy independence. They voted for unity in America. They voted for stem-cell research. They voted for protecting Social Security. We need to be unified and have a very clear agenda, and I’m going to be fighting for that agenda with all the energy I have, and all of the passion I brought to the campaign.” ( entire article hereCollapse ) | | Wednesday, November 10th, 2004 | 4:23 pm [uber_boob]

Here are some games to entertain yourself: Kerry-Man http://www.comedycentral.com/games/gameplayer/index.jhtml?game=/tv_shows/indecision2004/game/Kerry-Man_pre.swf&gametype=GFLASHOut of all the online games I've played concerning the election, the best one is this one: www.bushgame.com It is absolutely hilarious, if not very very dirty. Those who are easily offended should not play this game. It's also very informative. Throughout the game little windows pop-up explaining just how bush has messed up over the past four years. You can play as: Michael Moore, Howard Dean, Rosie O'Donell, John Kerry, John Edwards, Mr. T, and many many more agains a great array of evil minions. It's fabulous, play it now before someone pulls it. | | Tuesday, November 9th, 2004 | 6:31 pm [localskastar]
