Hi,
Here's my little survey.
Name Dawnielle
Age 24
Age when first sick/diagnosed I was diagnosed this year, but I've had problems with this since I was 14.
Diagnosis Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Are you in remission? No.
Treatments that have worked for you? Um... I can't think of any really that have helped with my CFS problems, aside from talking to supportive friends.
The hardest part for you about having an invisible disease? Lots of things. There's not one specific thing. Not having a social life, having to let go of a lot of my dreams, feeling like I'm 75 at 24. Etc.
Thanks for letting me in to the community.

Name: Stephanie

Age: 20

Age when first sick/diagnosed: I've been sick since I was 14, I was diagnosed just last week (after ruling out everything else under the sun).

Diagnosis: Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. Apparently it's hard to make an exact diagnoses since they tend to overlap.

Are you in remission?: No.

Treatments that have worked for you: I'm trying a drug called Amitriptylline right now to help with the sleep disorder, and other than that I'm on Paxil for Panic Disorder, and B12.

The hardest part for you about having an invisible disease: Trying to answer the question "What do you do?". It sounds so simple, but I don't want to run on about my health to a stranger, and I can't do much of anything due to my illness.
Plus, it's been so long, and people are finally starting to believe that I am sick and not just "lazy".

Name: Kelsey
Age: 17
Age when first sick/diagnosed: i became sick when i was 15, diagnosed right after my 16th birthday...
Diagnosis: it all began with permanent nerve damage that happened 2 and a half years ago... and then later in my sophmore year.. right after i was diagnosed with the nerve damage [which was 6 months after that began] i started having major joint pains.. and being really sick.. suffered for another 6 months and was diagnosed with FM&CFS
Are you in remission?:no.... although it hasnt been all that bad sice last year..considering the weather.. or so i believe.. its only been bad beginning in feb through septemberish
Treatments that have worked for you: exercise.. and getting in shape....verrry slowly.. no real medicine has helped me all that much.. so they just keep saying take ibuprofen.. and i think im immune to it now.. as i get nothing
The hardest part for you about having an invisible disease: when i am suffering.. no one can tell.. because you look healthy... and the fact that dr.'s&&my mom even to a point believe that its all in my head.. when in reality...as you all know... its not..
