which I used Codex and Claude Code to fix, but I understand 100% of the code and would be happy to explain it in my own words. I've tested the fix as well as I can, made sure to not hard-code any assumptions and tried to fix it the right way W.R.T. the macOS API.

Why do you want to make this change?

The issue was bugging the hell out of me. I like to do "cmd+f, type, cmd+g, cmd+g, cmd+g"

I look at very long log files all day and scroll back search is the only thing keeping me from only using Ghostty.
