| Star Wars Epics |
[04 Jun 2011|02:01am] |
Star Wars Epics (also known as Epics) is primarily a play by post roleplaying site, with forums dedicated to Star Wars discussion as well as media, culture, entertainment, and current events. Set 13 years after the Battle of Endor, the site is currently setting the bar as an independently owned and operated, unofficial, not-for-profit, roleplaying-centered Star Wars website, with an entirely flame-free fan community. The use of the word Epics is no attempt to exaggerate the quality of the site; rather it is an attempt to show an aspect of the site's roleplaying which is unique to the genre: each member, from the original founders circa 1999, and everyone that has joined since, can trace their original characters from their first "introductory post" through one continuing massive story, up to today.
Why should you join Epics?
Longevity: Star Wars Epics has been in existence as a roleplaying group in various forms since 1999 and has grown steadily, despite jumping formats several times.
Originality: Star Wars Epics has been copied more than once, in both design and content, by more boards than we can count. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, in our opinion -- but we still try to stay one step ahead.
Management: Our admins read every post made on the board every day, respond to every PM, and are accessible on various IM devices, and every question posted by anyone is answered in 24 hours or less -- usually our replies are within minutes. Oh, and we actually roleplay in the stories ourselves too!
Activity: Star Wars Epics doesn't pad our number of daily posts with spam threads, or spamming in hidden forums, bumping old topics, misrepresenting our member count, or hacking our "members online" list to show fake visitors. What you see is what you get, and we feel that honesty is the best policy.
Community: Star Wars Epics is entirely composed of mature, intelligent people of all ages (17-40+), all of whom get along with each other and with the staff. Our board is drama-free, and we have had to hide threads or edit posts for content only a handful of times, in the entirety of our online existence (11 years).
Talent: Admins from other Star Wars roleplaying sites have have approached our site to write when they want quality roleplaying. (Of course they usually back out when they see us, but what can we do?)
But don't take our word for it. Here's a sample of our roleplays (chosen at random from our recent threads):
Treason: A Rogue Squadron Tale - some of the New Republic's finest find themselves framed for treason and murder.
The Tatooine Redemption - the Empire conquered Tatooine and their TIE pilots have to handle it.
Epics Infinities - what might have happened had the Empire won at Endor?
Snapshots at Carida- how some of the Imperial officers became what they are.
And here's a collection of unsolicited praise we've received: Praise for Epics

| Anakin diagnosed |
[15 Jun 2010|10:19am] |
|
French psychiatrists have diagnosed Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars - who later became Darth Vader - with borderline personality disorder.
Eric Bui of the Toulouse University Hospital says he made the diagnosis after watching the prequel movies and comparing Anakin to diagnostic criteria of mental disorders.
He says the young Jedi matched six out of the nine borderline personality disorder criteria, thanks to his separation from parents, his impulsiveness, violent outbursts and anger management issues.
His illusions of invincibility and crises of identity are also said to have made him a classic example of the disorder.
Suggesting they may be in need of a stint one the psychiatrists couch themselves, the experts even claim with psychotherapy the fictional character may not have turned to the dark side.

| Clone Wars season 2 finale |
[04 May 2010|06:20pm] |
|
How's everyone else's point's of view regarding the last three episodes ending Season Two of the Clone Wars with Boba Fett?
I've got mixed feelings myself. Boba Fett's back story, I expected to be darker then what I've watched. Next to that, having Bossk navigating Slave I....? Maybe it's me, but someting doesn't feel right. I share a fandom for the new Clone Wars, but Fett's story, I would expect him to be filled with less remorse then what they are making him out as. I'm sure something later on will help make things fit, right now I'm uncertain.

Disclaimer: Star Wars is owned by Lucas film, and does not belong to me.
Please Note -- a knowledge of Star Wars is NOT necessary in order to participate in this role-play. I am willing to explain anything that you need to know to you in order for you to play a particular character.
At was writing a Star Wars AU fanfiction several years ago on other sites. In this fanfiction, I had various Star Wars characters write to other characters -- explaining to other characters what is going on in the story. The result of this is that a fanfiction is written from the perspectives of the characters, while they interact with each other. The story begins before The Phantom Menace and will go all the way up through Return of the Jedi. Right now, the story is almost at the end of The Phantom Menace. That is where I had to stop because of time contraints from school and other things. However, I decided to start it up again. I need characters. These Notes will be posted in their own community, and also on a proboards forum.
For those who participate, you get to pretend to be a character and have influence on other characters, as well as the overall story. There are boundaries, though.
The reason that this fan fiction will be classified as AU is because, while generally following the story line of the movies, there are certain points that will be different. Also, there are additional characters and events. There are also questions that are answered in this fanfiction that are not covered in the movie. (Like how and why did Dooku become a Sith, what was Palpatine doing behind the scenes that caused everything to happen the way that it did, what would happen if Anakin was really able to free his mother, just how deep was the love between Anakin and Padme and how did it develop, etc.)
This fan fiction will take you through the events of the movies, and you will get to see these events through various different characters' eyes.
I will not post the fanficiton to this group unless the group owner specifically wants me to.
If interested in participating, please either reply to this or send me a private message. (A private message would probably be better. That way I see it for sure).
