Truly orthorexic? [07 Mar 2009|12:47am]

helloblueskies
[ mood | sick ]

I am a vegan, I don't eat soy, sugar, or any grains, would this be considered orthorexic? I am not underweight it's just that if I eat any of those foods I feel really sick. I think I'm allergic to something but I still can't figure out what it is...Hm. I'm thinking possibly potatoes, does anyone have any info on this, such as possible symptoms? Wishing to go raw vegan again...

Milk is it good or bad? do you drink it? [08 Feb 2009|09:35am]

berryfaerie
I usually feel like it's bad for you, mucous forming.. and fattening
but I often drink it anyways, in my tea, or w/ muesli or oatmeal    {I carefully measure out a few tbsps}
but then on days like today, I am very picky and went searching for that carton of rice milk hidden away in the cupboard.
I just didn't want milk today, feeling like its bad for me
do you drink it? and do you feel like its your one exception?
I'll be like ok, today I ate healthy all day except that cup of tea w/ milk in the morning

Banana Nut Bread with Cream Cheese

Photobucket

Photobucket

Banana-Nut Bread
2 cups vegetable juice pulp (preferably at least half of it carrot pulp)
8 tbsp ground flax or chia
¾ cup chopped walnuts
¾ cup raisins
5 bananas

Mix together the veggie juice pulp and bananas in a food processor. Add in the ground flax or chia and let the food processor run until the seeds are completely mixed in.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl with the walnuts and raisins and mix them in thoroughly by hand. Shape into a loaf. For major yumminess, top with ‘Cream Cheese’ (see below).
Cream Cheese
Flesh of three avocados
9 dates
juice of 1 or 2 lemons
big handful of dulse

Blend the ingredients in a blender. Serve on top of banana-nut bread, or just eat on its own ;)

That’s it – super-easy, a good way to recycle juicing pulp and VERY yummy – well, we like it anyway…we were actually laughing a great deal to imagine how we’d have reacted in our pre-raw days if given this kind of meal…well, try it, you might like it... ;)

Wild Rose Cleanse [21 Dec 2008|01:55pm]

toomuchtodie
I tried to gain "a healthy additude towards food and eating," deleted myself from every ED related community, and stopped caring about food for a few months. And of course, I just ate crappy food and gained weight. I have found a happy medium in my head, where I just want to eat as healthy as possible. I don't want to consume aspertame or "fat free" or any of that pro-ana, fake, filler bullshit anymore, just healthy, wholesome foods. I also recognize that I may never have a "healthy" perspective of food and eating. But, I mean, who can? Look at our society. We hate/love thin people, and either sexualy worship them or call them "anorexic" or "unhealthy". And overweight people, we either scorn for being disgusting and unattractive, or applaud them for "not giving in-to-thin" and being a "healthy" weight. We think a fucking cheeseburger is the cure to emaciation, the healthful alternative. We as a society have a all-encompassing eating disorder, its not just "us"(the ED community). People think not caring about what they put in their mouth is a healthy additude towards food, consuming artificil foods is alright as long as you are so apathetic towards food that you don't know your eating it. And, because of those reasons, I can NEVER hava a healthy attidude towards food. the only thing I CAN to, is eat healthfully, maintain a weight that i feel comfortable at(despite my internal conflict over "who gioves a flying fuck how I look?") and feel clean and healthy. Therfore, I am going to go on a month long cleaning program to kickstart healthy eating. I don't expect perfection from myself, but I know I'm crawling on the right track.

I'm starting the Wild Rose Cleanse on Saturday. I'm making a complete list of daily meals, shopping, etc.(I'm a huge list person). My big plan for a month of cleansing entails as such:

Saturday Jan 24-Wednesday February 4th: Wild Rose detox diet

Wednesday February 4th-Wednesday February 11th: A liquid fast of nothing but VEGA berry smoothies, spirulina with 2 young coconuts a day.

Wednesday February 11th-Wednesday February 18th: Master Cleanse.

I'm then planning on renewing my gym pass when I complete the Master Cleanse, so that I can get back into shape and strengthen my heart. I've been feeling like crap all winter, and I 1010% attribute it to my laziness/seasonal depression.

A few questions:

-Does anyone see any health dangers/complications with that plan? In my mind, it seems like the easiest transition into the Master Cleanse, and the most beneficial rout to cleansing, detoxing and losing weight.

-Has anyone had any success on these cleanses? Or, on any cleanse for that matter?

dumb question:

wine, assuming its not processed with sulfides and shit. is it technically raw? (i guess this goes for all alcohols, actually. if its not homebrewed, what is it??)

same question for vinegar...

i asked ya'll about pickles a while ago, and i'm still not convinced (but i still love pickles). is there any significant difference between the "raw" diet and the "living" diet?  obviously living has to be raw, but can you give me some more examples of what is raw but not really living?

Detox Before Transition to Vegetarian Diet [29 Nov 2008|11:07pm]

thatll_do_pig
I've decided to finally fully adopt a vegetarian diet after years of going through various stages of one. I'd like to do a seven-ten day detox before fully making the transition, so I wanted to get advice for various kinds of detoxes that have worked best for you. Please let me know. Links, recipes, etc is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
