Me and Dave in happier times.
My poor Dave. His life is driving him nuts and I'm not helping him any. *SIGH* I've gotta get moved out and fast. Really.
I mean, I love my Dave. I do. Really, really, truly do. He's a marvelous guy. I'm lucky to have him in my life at all, really. And nothing makes me sadder than to see him going through this shit he's having to deal with. The divorce is not easy on him at all. He's stressed out like I've never seen him before. I'm worried, at least a little. I know worrying isn't gonna do anything but I do it all the same.
He says he's gonna be okay, and I believe him. He has a great deal of strength and dignity. But it doesn't mean he's a happy camper. If Dave's not happy, then I'm not as happy as I can be.
And of course he's not happy. Who would be if their parents were splitting up after 20-something years? And to have a parent up and come live with them-a parent who is constantly moody and depressed, no less? Dave's life is more uncertain now than it has been in a long time and no matter how old you are or how well-adjusted you seem that's a daunting proposition.
I just don't know how to tell him that it's going to be okay, and that I'm here for him, and I love him.
It's gonna be okay, David. I love you, and no matter what, I will always be here for you. You have me, and Doug, and Rodge, and Mr. Kitty. We'll always love you.
