Progression's plan

Perhaps I am afraid of writing because every time I think about it, I realize there is just so much to say and so much I would love to record, I fear I will never write enough or it will just consume too much time. This really should not deter me from doing something so cathartic and meaningful.

A few days ago, I had a great scripture study with my good friend, Chris Haueter. Being rather unable, as of late, to make the personal progress for which I have hoped, I had been thinking a lot about humility as a prerequisite to self-improvement, and thus choose it as our study topic. We read a few scriptures, discussed their meaning and applications, and even opened up "Preach My Gospel", an incredible book. I now run short on time to describe what I learned, which was the intent of this entry, but in short, I guess I had forgotten how we require humility before we can accept and make the needed changes in our lives to improve. Determination and faith is not enough if we don't have the humility to try something else and trust in the Lord. I do hope I have learned this lesson now.

That was a good scripture study.

Today I studied 2 Nephi 25, in which Nephi teaches and prophesies of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. His words are so plain and so powerful; indeed, they are "sufficient to teach any man the right way; for the right way is to believe in Christ".

How blessed we are that Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of all mankind! What a glorious and deeply meaningful blessing! He is indeed our Savior, Lord, and the Redeemer of mankind.

My worst confidant

Crossed eyed, starring straight at me,
That muse of loss daring to see:
My fight, my pain, some way to be.

Never wanting my ill intent,
Yet satisfying me with discontent.
I still strive, my will so bent.

Thus I cry, "My foe is unfair!
For we make such pair,
I am tempted unaware."

This friend sneaks still to my side.
Unwilling, I permit to abide
Hoping for a pleasant familiar chide.

Proceeding forth, without defense;
Blameless no more my innocence,
This thief damming my recompense.

A laugh I hear, but not of glee
My trouble without malice subdues me
Although I know the way to be.

We walk with willies

walking, heaving panting, breathing
never to see a soft traveled trail
laughing, crying, living, dying
men of old typify this tale

sleeping, giggling, eating, crawling,
full of dreams and hands so small
stepping, speaking, hiding, peeking
games and jest fade when tall

thinking, dating, traveling, waiting
innocent discontent, a merry day
flirting, learning, daring, yearning
callow excuses lost and away

...
