Twice baked

We ate dinner tonight and then I put the extra biscuits in baggies to save for leftovers. I had them on the counter. I should have known better. Later I went into Addison's room ---- I guess I didn't cook them long enough the first time:)

Our Elf on the Shelf

I don't know if you've seen this before but this is the first year I've seen this idea. We try new traditions each year and thought this might be fun with the kids..... So elf (which you are supposed to name and personalized but we haven't come to a conclusion yet) comes to your house and watches each day what you do and reports back to Santa each night. When he comes back, he is in a new spot and you have to find him. The only rule is that you can't touch him. You can talk to it and tell all your wishes to it but you can't touch. Anyway...I just have to report that on the first morning I saw Addie look at it and shake her bootie and say "na na boo boo" (which btw I have no idea where she learned that from:( ) to it----I don't think she got the idea of it too well eh? Either that or she doesn't care about getting coal in her stocking!!!

Give thanks

We have many things to be thankful for --as always-- and this year we got another great visit with our family in Iowa.

We made turkey oreo cookies---yum yum:)
That night we got to go on a horse trailer ride. They were supposed to go once---but got to go 3 times!!!
The kids even got to talk to Santa---and Addie totally stole from the bucket before it was her turn--sneaked right up there grabbed the candy cane and ran---that is all she wanted:). I think that counts as naughty though (ha) so I don't know how much talking did her any good!!!!!

Scouting for food

Dave worked in Cinncinati this week and so when he came home and went out for scouting for food he took Meg with him. He said she was so cute picking up the bags. On the video he has of her the food looks heavy as she struggles to bring the food down the driveway:) She also really enjoyed all the goodies she got after they dropped off the food. Dave said they had to count the cans they picked up: 1, 229!!

2nd grade concert--The Mitten

Haley had a music concert tonight based off the book The Miitten by Jan . She had a speaking part and did really well. We are so proud of her!

Baby surprise

A couple weeks ago I headed out to go visiting teaching. I was late:( but when I arrived these amazing women ran out from the kitchen to "surprise" me (which they definitely did) with a baby brunch for our soon-to-be-arrival. I was so touched. Not everyone that was there is in the picture and I didn't even know what to say and still don't know quite how to adequately express my thanks for the sweet kindness shown to me today. I am 34 weeks----the countdown has definitely begun. :)

They had made this adorable diaper cake and put money and my yummy favorite Kisses (caramel apple flavored:)) along with some other baby goodies.

Minute to Win it

A couple weeks ago Dave was in charge of the youth activity at church and they played "Minute to win it". We had not seen the show before but you get one minute to complete a certain challenge and the people win certain amounts of money for how far they get. Anyway, last night we played Spriggs Olympics and did our own version. It was so funny. The kids were in charge of coming up with a challenge for everyone. Just remember it was late Sat. night before baths so we aren't looking our "best" (and potty training was going better until diarrhea (need I say more? let's just say library:( Oh--the real life of moms) So here we are:

Christmas projects

Every year the kids draw names for each other and they get to give something to their sibling. In the past we've given them a budget and taken them out and divided and conquered. This year we changed it a bit and said they had to "make" something for each other. We are still working on a few (but I am trying to finish up really quick since the baby time is coming closer:)). It has been fun because it has provided us (the parents) individual time with each kid as we work with them to make their gifts. Of course I can't post them as little eyes might see the cool stuff but I think this one is safe since the baby is not going to know (ha). Megan helped pick out the material and lay out the pattern, put pins away for me:). I've always wanted to try a rag quilt so it was fun. I've also been working on other stuff like taggies, burp clothes, a chime bag (we're making chimes--so fun) and other Christmas goodies. It has been a little weird because the weather was like 78 this week--notice I am not complaining: but it is a little different wrapping Christmas in that but it has been so fun. Christmas is going so special. I love this time of year:)

Parent Teacher Conferences

A couple weeks ago we met with the kids teachers for school. They are both doing so well. When I was waiting for my turn I found Haley's project and saw this and wanted to record it. To me it is so sweet and shows the love and admiration she has for her brother.

Trunk or Treat

I have to just say that I have wanted to be this candy vending machine for 10 years now since I first saw the idea----it was SO much fun and a big hit. I didn't have time to cover the wording and make it perfect but to me it was. Thanks Dave for being the awesome husband to make it for me and thanks Megan for the incredible idea!!

They're back----fall fun!

Yes our leaves are falling down:) but so far we haven't done any work--just play!!!

Preschool Halloween

Megan got to go "trick or treating" today at preschool around the high school classes. I couldn't believe how loaded her bag came home. As you can see, she had a great time. She is loving preschool and the teachers love her...but that is no surprise--how can you not love her?:)

The Pumpkin Farm

This weekend we got to visit family to celebrate the Oct. birthdays. When we arrived we found out that they had just gotten a new car and so of course everyone wanted to have a little "test ride": ) While we were there we headed out to Peach Tree farms. We used to go every year so it was a special treat for us to go and be with family. I still remember going there 10 years ago! They have expanded and have grown with lots of activities. It was fun to remember and I have included a picture of that first year:) It was SO much fun and the weather was incredible. Here are a few things we got to do:

Holding the "hoppies" Addie really liked this. Jordan plays a game with her she calls the "hoppy game" so this was a real treat to get to hold one.





And last but not least, we sang and celebrated the birthday guy---not a kid anymore!Happy Birthday Rob and Rachel!!!
