Well, it's about time we posted some pictures of this little guy on the family site! And I want to thank all of you for your faith and prayers, both during Gabriel's birth and for his little clubfoot. I don't think there's ever been a sweeter baby! Heavenly Father knew we needed this little calm spirit in our home, because Gabriel is about as good as can be and I know it's none of our doing! He sleeps 5 hours or so through the night, only cries if he needs his diaper changed or is hungry, and has infinite patience with older siblings and the millions of people who frequent our house (Mom & Dad & Elaine can testify . . . ).
As you probably all know, we're taking Gabriel to Primary Children's Hospital in SLC to be treated for his clubfoot. He has to have a cast change weekly for 6-8 weeks, and somewhere in the middle of that he'll probably need to have his tendon clipped. It's a non-invasive outpatient procedure, and it means no major surgeries like I had to have. He'll have full range of motion and will be able to run, do sports, etc., and all the other things I wasn't able to do. Of course, Seth is thrilled about that part! The only problem is that he'll have one calf muscle slightly smaller than the other and may have one foot a bit smaller too. But compared to what could be wrong, we feel very blessed.
We left the kids with Elaine (Seth's mom) last weekend and traveled to Primary Children's, where Jacob patiently let the nurse bundle him and the doctor apply the cast. He hardly even fussed at all! Seth and I were impressed by what a special place P.C.H. is. We stayed at his grandma's in Salt Lake and had a nice visit with several King cousins. These weekly trips will be a good chance to visit with family we don't see often enough!
One of Seth's cousins (Dave King) and his brother Vance took Seth to the BYU vs. UCLA game (conveniently scheduled on Seth's birthday). They bought tickets on the 30 yard line (Vance, his brother living in Lehi, came too) and they enjoyed an amazing game--a 59 to 0 blowout! Seth couldn't have been more pleased! And I had a great time with Grandma Alma & Grandpa Juan, listening to the game on the radio and doing puzzles with Grandpa. It was such a nice visit!

Just thought I'd throw in a couple of pictures of Lydia's first day at Bloomington Hills Elementary. I can't believe she's in 2nd grade already! She was so excited and nervous this morning.
