Reido's quote of the day

No exaggeration-- this is what Reid said this morning when he was getting dressed, verbatim: "Some kids wear socks under their sandals, so could I please be a regular kid, mom? Could I?"
While this sentence sounds much too advanced for a 2-year-old, keep in mind his pronunciation-- regular is "reg-a-luh." He is such a crack-up.

Need A Laugh?

Have any of you seen "The Office" on NBC? It's a sitcom with really dry humor, and Derek and I think it's hilarious. Of the epidsodes I've seen, it's not offensive or inappropriate.... but you never know, with TV these days, so hopefully it won't go downhill.

Two-Year-Old Catch Phrases and Quips

Reid has coined a new term in our household: "drawloring". He doesn't just draw. He doesn't just color. He "drawlors."

The other night when we were at the Great Wolf Lodge, we were in the lobby during the opening reception of "Snowland"-- the hotel's annual Christmas event. Hors d'oeuvres were being served (the bite-sized corn dogs were my favorite, followed by the jumbo shrimp), as well as Pepsi's in glass bottles. Seeing all of the other kids drinking them, Reid started saying, "I want a beer " (although Reid pronounces beer with two syllables, "beee-ya.") We did what any other responsible parents would do, and gave him one. Maybe that explains why he was up 'til midnight.

Weavers Go To The Great Wolf Lodge

We gave the boys their early christmas gift Friday and went to the Traverse City Great Wolf Lodge http://tc.greatwolflodge.com/. This place is seriously amazing. We got there around 3pm Friday and Swam until 5:30, had dinner then went back for more. We were all so beat by 8:30 that we decided to call it a night. Ethan was the last to go to sleep as he watched The Polar Express until midnight. We were up and at 'em early and spent the rest of saturday getting waterlogged and watching the kids play. It was an awesome "trip." The best part is it is only 1/2 mile away. it was just enough to be a great christmas gift, but not kill us. Luke was the star of the lodge. He even got his picture taken for the Manistee, MI newspaper in his santa outfit. He would sit on either of our tummies and do enless laps on the lazy river Since Reid doesn't have any subcutaneous fat he of course wanted to stay in the hot tub the entire time. We are glad to see that Ethan actually wanted to ride on the slides so we just took turns riding the river, sitting in the hot tub, and riding the slides. The view is amazing. While the kids are playing in the water inside the snow was falling outside. We got 12 inches between Friday and Saturday.

Not that I can even compete with Nascar Nick's "flippin' awesome" picture, I figured I'd better post something since I'm the one who started this whole thing. :))

I'm supposed to be a magician and she's my rabbit, but we threw them together pretty quick so I don't know if you can tell... and don't worry about the pink bowtie, it was hers and just to be funny in the pic. Hope you like the pumpkin - it may be gross, but surely I get some creativity points?!

Nick's update

Well fam,
I wish I had pictures for you but right now I do not (big surprise, eh?) ... I can't keep up with the Weavers and all of their technologically advanced toys and digital cameras and what not ... plus, what would I show you anyways? Pictures of me at work and in the library? There is Jenna, I suppose I can get some pictures of her, since some of you might not have met her (i.e., the Weavers...) Anyways, I'll see what I can do about that. Love you all, see you soon...

Ethan's First Day of School

Ethan is in a Pre-K program, which he loves. (Reid thought he was staying for the first day, too. )
His teacher is very nice. Ethan goes half day Monday through Thursday, which I thought would be too much, but now on Friday I almost go crazy trying to keep him busy. :) He seems to really enjoy his newfound "independence."

Happy Halloween

Greetings from the Microweavers! Halloween was a lot of fun-- all five times that we celebrated it. Derek and I still laugh every time we look at the picture of Reid as Curious George-- that costume was a hit. (Thanks to Papa Randy-- in our opinion, it was his best "Last Chance" purchase yet.) As you can see, Luke was our little "Pea in the Pod"-- which was very confusing to Reid, as he kept saying things like "I pee in the potty" and "Luke's a poo in the pod." Ethan alternated between spiderman and a cheetah for his various parties.This year I made sure I was stocked up on 8 bags of candy-- all chocolate-- I always hated the houses that gave out Smarties-- only to have only 1 group of Trick-or-Treaters-- our next door neighbors. I guess since we're in a recently developed block, no one thought to come down our street. Any ideas of what to do with a huge bowl of chocolate? Even Derek, the chocolate maniac, couldn't put a dent in it last night. :)

Hatch Family Reunion 2005

This is my favorite picture from our reunion in August. Thanks everyone for coming-- it was our best family get-together yet, in my opinion. We have a great family.
