Flower Girl Dresses

I am starting a new set of little girl dresses. These are dresses for my nieces Natalie and Oshyn who are going to be the flower girls at my niece Jamie's wedding in September. I was resisting the idea of doing them periwinkle. I thought maybe white with a little splash of periwinkle but now that I have gone fabric shopping, I think they are going to be dark periwinkle (almost navy) with tortoise trim. The question is, if anyone cares to give opinion, what do we think of a full flower girl dress that only goes to the mid calf or shorter???? I think I want to mix of elements from each of these dresses.The bow from this one and maybe a the peek-a-boo layer on the bottom. I would use tulle.

We went to the North Carolina Museum of Art last week with Ellen and the kids. We didn't know exactly what we were going to see. We knew it was live music, that was enough for me :) Well this guys cartoons play on a big screen behind him while he sings and plays. It was awesome! Amelia really loved it. Olivia sat on my lap for almost half of the performance. I was amazed! And now Amelia sleeps with the little Gustafer doll she got from the souvenir shop.

Easter Dresses

Ok, so I made an easter dress for Amelia and then didn't like it so I wasn't going to post anything as a follow up to the dresses entry from a month ago. Then, Jeana came over and gave me a little encouragement. So I will still put the button on the other dress I made for Amelia, even though it is a bit too traditional for a "Nina" design. She will love wearing it. But for Easter I made a new one that matched Olivia's and it turned out pretty cute. When I added the Children's Place shrugs, I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really like how they turned out. (Especially Olivia's diaper cover). And the best part, I got another excuse or 2 to make some matching fabric flowers to embellish with! All I can say is, I think I was meant to have girls, they bring me so much joy!

Trying out a new logo

I am trying to revamp my website, it is slow going but progressing. I wanted to take it to the next level and design myself a logo. I am hoping it will not be too detailed to tell what it is, or too simple that it looks like I did it myself. (It is a fine line.) Anyway, so here it is.

Bubblicious

I couldn't decide between the bubble dress and the multi-print cotton dress designs. I ended up buying cotton fabric the Easter dresses (my next project) but while struggling with the decision I found myself going back to that bubble. So I made the bubble dress just because I had to. It turned out so cute! I couldn't believe how easy it was to sew. I am posting the pictures of the plaid poof of perfection. I will post the Easter dresses when I finish them.

Shirley those curls aren't natural:)

Amelia got foam curlers a month or so ago. We tried them one day, just left them in for a few hours. The curls were soft and girly. Just what Amelia likes, they were a hit. So last night I thought curls would be fun for church. Amelia agreed. We decided she would just sleep in them like I did when a was little. Wow, it turned out CURLY!
It looked a lot cuter once I put it up. Funny thing is, when she got home and took the pony tails out, the hair bounce right back to all it's poofy glory. She can't stop admiring herself in the mirror and jumping around to feel it bounce.

She informed me that Olivia was born with curls and her were just for fun! Here are some pictures of the hairdoo after church, obviously a bit more decheveled, complete with a mac and cheese mustache/beard and a barret in her mouth.

Easter Dress design

New year, and another chance to sew the girls dresses. I kind of played the too busy/lazy card last year when it came time to make dresses for special occasions. This year, I am doing at least one holiday. So Easter it is! I just have to nail down the design. Here are some of my inspirations, we will see how it comes out in the end:)Is it going to be too warm for this fabric?

Snowdays 2009

Looking Winter

Snow in North Carolina is a rarity so when I made the girls winter hats, I had imagined they would only be worn while we were in Idaho. But just before we left the snow fell here and kept falling all day. We had so much fun! So even though it has been almost a month. I wanted to share the pictures of the fun and the fashion.

Playing Catch up!

It has been a while since I blogged. So this will be one of a few entries to catch up.
Olivia's first birthday was great! We had a monster cake and I made cupcake monster toys. She had fun watching Amelia party. One year birthdays are kind of funny, especially when you have an older sibling. She did love her balloon and she opened her gifts with great anticipation. I think that is all you can ask of the little ones.Can't believe she is one already!
